I can't tell you how many different ones of these I have tried. And have been disappointed. I had ones w/batteries b/c originally did not wish to have another device plugged in the kitchen taking up space and having to sit near an outlet vs anywhere of my choice. The ones that take batteries need replacement often so its not a one time investment at that point b/c you always have to buy batteries. That may have even been worth it but they always broke in some way. They all basically have the same design and mechanism as far as how they grind and work. All others I have tried, one of the ones stopped working or had some issue. They ones w/ lights, would have one shaker's light go out w/in a few uses, etc. I really wanted a powered one and felt my search was never ending. Finally found this two in one which I thought was a great idea and the best of both worlds. B/c it is only one unit, the base is small and does not take up much space and we have an outlet near the stove that actually works great for this purpose. Again, b/c its just one and not two shakers, it does not clutter the counter. It stays docked when not in use and is always ready to go. Not sure how long it actually holds a charge but have never had an issue with it running out when cooking. the blue light indicates it charged and ready to go. easy to fill. I will say I ordered once and it just stopped working. It would charge, say it was charged and a make a noise as if it was trying to work but then simply wouldn't. I contacted the seller, got a replacement, send other one back and the new one has been wonderful. I have seen other reviews that said the same so not sure if maybe something happens during transit that disrupts a sensitive working part b/c its interesting that many people have said the same thing. but my 2nd one is wonderful. the two in one feature it SO convenient for cooking b/c I usually use both salt and pepper to season things and I am a huge fan of reducing clutter and "stuff" but still preserving all the devices I need/want. also a GREAT gift/housewarming, etc.

Received Cuisinart salt, pepper, spice grinder. Set up, charged for 3 days, put salt & peppercorns in. Would not grind. Called Cuisinart, determined bad battery. Amazon replaced with no problem. 2nd grinder received promptly. Set it up. Charged 2 days. Put salt and peppercorns in. Would not grind. Called Cuisinart. Really, 2 in a row? Cuisinart is better than this, what is the issue? Cuisinart does not troubleshoot nor repair these grinders, only grinder they carry, return for replacement. This is unbelievable. Called Amazon, returning and not replacing thank you. Received return lable immediately to print here, mail both back in same box. Thank you, Amazon, very helpful and efficient, and I appreciate that. But. Can not let this go, has to be an explanation, because, really Cuisinart products are just simply great products. After a great deal of trial and error, the explanation is simple. In my opinion Cuisinart should have had this information to share. I was using Himalayan salt. I replaced that with course sea salt. In both grinders. Both grinders now process the peppercorns and the sea salt beautifully, in various grind sizes. Bottom line is these grinders do not have the power to grind the Himalayan salt. So if you want to grind Himalayan salt but a different grinder. But these work perfectly with sea salt.

Oh, joyous day! The Cuisinart SG-3 Rechargeable Salt, Pepper, and Spice Mill Mini Prep Plus Food Processor has graced my kitchen with its fleeting presence. What a rollercoaster of emotions this little contraption has put me through! At first glance, it seemed like a dream come true – compact, rechargeable, and ready to tackle the world of seasoning and spice. Ah, the joy of grinding peppercorns and salt with a touch of a button! But alas, this fairytale romance was short-lived. Within two months, the magic fizzled out, leaving me with a powerless, lifeless, and quite frankly, useless piece of machinery. I mean, come on Cuisinart, was it too much to ask for this thing to last longer than a summer fling? The rechargeable feature, well-intentioned as it may be, was more like a drama queen in disguise. It constantly needed pampering, begging for attention with its finicky battery life. "Charge me, charge me," it whined, demanding more care than a high-maintenance celebrity. Not to mention the charging dock taking up real estate on my already limited counter space. Bravo, Cuisinart, for adding clutter to my life. And let's not forget the customer support – a shining beacon of indifference! When I dared to seek help, I was met with the enthusiasm of a sloth on a sleepy Sunday afternoon. It's like they knew their product had an expiration date but chose to remain tight-lipped about it. Oh, Cuisinart, you really nailed the art of building something with built-in obsolescence. Bravo, indeed! So, to sum it up, the Cuisinart SG-3 Rechargeable Salt, Pepper, and Spice Mill Mini Prep Plus Food Processor is like a shooting star – brief and awe-inspiring, but gone before you know it. Unless you enjoy short-lived romances and enjoy playing "find the charging cable" every other day, stay far, far away from this kitchen fling. Now, I'll be off to find a more reliable and committed kitchen companion – one that doesn't vanish into thin air just when things start getting interesting. Farewell, Cuisinart, you had your chance, but your enchantment has faded.
