It's a good piece to have in the kitchen however it felt very flimsy to me. Not like my other one. Good for what is needed.

    • pretty much what i expected
pretty much what i expected! i wanted a mesh colander that i could set over my sink. my previous standard bowl colander did not sit over the drain in my sink very well and ran the risk of slipping and spilling the contents into the sink. the mesh is fairly fine and has done well with most grains and legumes (i've rinsed rice and red lentils in this just fine.) i like these kinds of colanders because they drain quickly and completely. one thing about the design of this colander though, it gets tricky to clean under the lip of the mesh. when dumping out, say, lentils, a lot of them get wedged under the rim of the colander. that metal strip doesn't stay flush with the mesh and food gets caught up under there easily. it's a little annoying, i wish the edge could have been a rolled, rounded design like my sieve so i wouldn't lose any of my food. cleaning it is not too hard (the mesh is flexible enough that you can make a gap for the food to slip back out of) but if you let it sit, it will get stuck in there and be nearly impossible to clean out. ... show more

    • Handy but large - still like it!
I chose Cuisinart for it's known quality and their limited lifetime warranty. The strainer has bright and sturdy stainless steel mesh and shiny edging and handles. The mesh is strong and retains it's shape. It is fine enough for rinsing everything but grains and a bit too harsh and large holed for berries - which is fine with me as I use the Cuisinart hand held strainers for tasks that need a finer mesh. Cuisinart CTG-00-3MS Mesh Strainers, Set of 3 The bars under the mesh have bends to form feet to protect the mesh and hold it off the counter when taken out of the sink. This is nice as it stays upright instead of rolling to one side or the other as it would without feet. The handles have black rubber like tubes over the ends that rest on the sides of the sink that appear to be of good quality and look like they will hold up with use. I saw the measurements on the product page so I shouldn't have been surprised - but when I opened the box I thought 'wow that's huge' and wondered if it would work out as it takes up so much valuable sink space. I find that I use it so much that it stays in the sink and when I have to use the entire sink space it easily sits on the counter. I now think of it as a valuable addition to easy preparation. ... show more

It was a great size and fit well over the sink. However was not easy to clean. I used for draining tomatoes after they were peeled and cored for making salsa. I don't have dishwasher and had to clean by hand. Maybe washing in a dishwasher with higher water pressure would make it easier to clean. All in all, very satisfied with product. ... show more

We used this to drain 4 pounds of browned burger @ a time. So cleaning pieces of burger in the mesh/fine holes of colander was a bit more work than my smaller colander with normal holes. But draining 2 pounds @ a time, a pain when you're browning 50 lbs! Cleaning difficulty once. Worth it! Can't wait to use for fruits & vegetables! ... show more
