This seems to hold the same amount of lettuce as my old spinner but takes up less room. Easy to use and has add'l features my old one did not have. Love the crank handle as opposed to popping up and down. Wish I exchanged the old for the new long ago.

I bought this expecting it to be larger, but it is small and mighty! It can fit quite a bit of lettuce or veggies and still dries them nicely! It has a high spin and is great for a multitude of items, very versatile! It has a nice little drainage hole at the top so you don't have to open it all the time. I had an old spinner that had holes at the bottom (I could only use it in the sink) so I wanted a replacement. Pros: I love that this one can be used wherever as the bowl is solid under the strainer. The crank operation is very easy to operate. This product aligns with the quality I would expect from Cuisinart. Cons: The locking mechanism isn't the easiest to operate. The item is a bit smaller than I thought. The bowl will hold only enough greens for a generous single side salad so if you want more greens, that'll take more rounds of spinning. ... show more

    • Works okay for "spinning" out residual water

The Cuisinart Salad Spinner works okay for spinning out water only. It DOES NOT work well for washing lettuce by adding water to the spinner. Even a small amount of added water will make it very very hard to spin and puts to much of a strain on the spinning mechanism. The best way I found to use the spinner was to wash the lettuce in the basket under running water, shake out the basket to remove as much water as possible, then put the basket into the spinner and spin out any remaining water. Another note, the locking lever on the spinner mechanism is not very sturdy. In summary: The Cuisinart Salad Spinner works okay for spinning residual water out of lettuce, but doesn't work for washing lettuce. I did return the salad spinner because I need something more study for heavy usage. Hope this helps. ... show more
