This is very sturdy. It feels like a LOT of money, but worth it if you are constantly washing greens like me. I love that you can press the lever and walk away. This is REALLY important for someone with arthritis or other motor issues (you could even press with elbow or foot), but also nice for any busy kitchen. If you balance it correctly, it will spin for a good long time on its own and NOT jump off the counter. I was also able to use it as a spin cycle... I was boiling cheese cloth on the stove to sterilize, and used the salad spinner to remove much of the boiling water before transferring to oven for drying. It worked great, and did not melt. Almost bought the plastic one but SO glad I got the stainless steel one. Much sturdier, more attractive, and does not move around as much as the plastic one.

Pros: - I had a plastic version of OXO spinner which cracked by falling from the table. This stainless steel version is definitely a sturdier replacement and the bowl would never break. - It's lighter than the glass version, and the water can be drained out by using one hand while holding the salad basket in another. Cons: - Although I can drain the water out by using one hand, it's poured out together with the plastic disk on the bottom of the bowl (an anchor for spinning). I always forget about this disk and all this is super annoying. - It doesn't dry the leaves as good as a cheaper plastic spinner by OXO :( This is disappointing since I paid more. I will probably keep the spinner, but I'm not happy with the purchase. ... show more

Would like it better without the plastic plate inside bottom, which is needed to spin. When it breaks, the whole salad spinner will not spin. This is not an upgrade from the past version.
