  • Perfect product! really love it Perfect product! really love it
Size: miniIpad5
really love this knee board, it's a really nicely designed one, which is of a smaller size, but lots of function, been flying with it for two weeks, the best place I love is this knee board can really help me to fix my pens, make them easy access and not dropping like before, and another good place is every part of this knee board can be removed or reassemble in a way I like, which make it so much more comfortable for get used to it in just one second! Nice designed, nice quality, ipad holder really nice fit my ipad mini 5, everything is ideal! Love it! ... show more

  • Overall good kneeboard for small cockpits. Fits 6th Generation iPad Mini
Size: miniIpad6
Good kneeboard for the iPad Mini (6th gen.) The folio protects the iPad well. When setting up your iPad touch ID, make sure you sue the side finger setting as well, otherwise you cannot unlock it with your fingerprint because the edge of the folio blocks your finger from fully touching the button. Also, the apple pencil does not charge due to the thickness of the folio side. It does attach magnetically (somewhat) but not good enough to charge through the folio. The aluminum clipboard is nice with some handy quick reference items printed on it. It does have some sharp edges from where it was stamped out. A small file can easily remove the sharp edges. Overall, it is a nice kneeboard for the price. ... show more

  • Great smaller form factor kneeboard
Size: miniIpad6Plus
I currently mount my ipad mini to the yoke in the cockpit but prefer a small kneeboard to grab ATIS, copy clearances, jot notes, etc. I was looking for something a little more robust then just a plain metal kneeboard and strap. I wanted someplace to easily holds pens & pencils, charts, etc. I also wanted the flexibility to be able to easily move my ipad from yoke-mount to the kneeboard. I can't comment yet on how it functions with the ipad because I do not yet use mine with the ipad. I modified mine. The ipad "Folio" that is included attaches to the kneeboard portion via velcro. I purchased some additional velcro and attached it to the back of the metal kneeboard. Like many kneeboards, it appears to be designed to slide the metal kneeboard into a "sleeve" to hold it in place. However, I wanted access to the great quick-access info printed on the kneeboard. So attaching velcro to the back allows me to stick it right to where the ipad Folio would go and then run the clear-plastic strap beneath it, with the velcro then locking that strap in place. Works perfectly for my uses! I've got the folio part of it in my flight bag. In a pinch, I can stuff my ipad into the folio, remove my kneeboard and slide it into the sleeve that was meant for it, and then attach the folio to the velcro. Several kneeboards on the market have similar features, but I like this one because its small. So many of the others are very very long. This kneeboard gives me a spot for pencils and pens, a binder holes if I wish to put charts there, and a very small form factor clipboard and kneeboard. I'm of small stature and this fits perfectly on my thigh without going so far down my knee that its awkward beneath the yoke in the cockpit. The creator of the product also included a whole bunch of nice, hard plastic quick-access placards and notes as well as a nice light gun cheat sheet card on a business sized card that fits perfectly in a kneeboard pocket. This other thing I really like is that the "sleeve" (which I did not use for the clipboard as intended) fits a "compact" size Checkmate Checklist (5x7) perfectly. I purchase 5x7 card stock in bulk through Amazon and those round-cornered blank cards fit the metal clipboard perfectly for jotting notes and don't dance or flip all around from the vents in the cockpit blowing air or get wrinkled and folded when being stuffed in and out of a flight bag. I stuff one of the manufacturer's quick access cards on the clipboard beneath my card stock. This way I can easily access my notes on the cardstock, one of the included placards, the quick-access info on the face of the metal clipboard, or my Checkmate Checklist in the sleeve. For my specific uses, I give it 5 stars. As one small negative, the clear plastic "strap" that is permanently attached on one end and velcro on the other (used for strapping down charts so they don't flip and riffle in the cockpit) should be removable. Its permanently attached at one end and if you don't need it to strap down charts, it gets in the way. You can tuck it behind the clipboard like I did, and its fine, but I'd prefer just to remove it entirely. I don't remove any stars from the rating but, I'd suggest including a set of binder "rings" with the kneeboard. It comes with everything else someone might need...even a luggage tag light-gun cheat card. Might as well include the rings as well so someone doesn't have to order separately. Folks use ringed-charts less often these days but, on the day you decide you want to use the binder portion at the last minute, you won't have to wait for an amazon order then. I'd also suggest including those velcro strips I used on the back of the metal clipboard. It adds the functionality of the product immensely. The manufacturer (who already has YouTube videos on his products) would also need to include a YouTube video demonstrating the use. It just gives the user yet another way to make the product meet their needs. The metal clipboard is the PERFECT size for me, and the default "face" of the clipboard is "VFR". The backside is "IFR". I don't think one could "reverse" that without removing rivets. It looks permanent to me (although maybe its easy to reverse and I just don't know how). However, if its permanent and can't be easily reversed, there is no harm with putting some velcro strips there. IFR or VFR, the info on the VFR face of the clipboard is handy to have. Also, I e-mailed the owner directly and he was very kind to work with. I explained my needs and he was very helpful. This is the second product I've purchased with him and am very happy with both. ... show more

  • Like it dont love it Like it dont love it
Size: miniIpad5
Pros- - holds the iPad snug -knee board, strap, pockets, velcro all seem solid and nice. Cons -The iPad case part seems to be a cheap hard plastic, im worried about its durability from taking the iPad in and out. - iPad folding cover also seems cheaply made. -ipad one goes one way in the in the case unlike old model where u could have the cover open to the right or left this only opens left making it not ideal for left handed pilots. All in all its the best option out there I've seen. For the price tag I'd like to see a better iPad holder/case/cover ... show more

  • Well Designed
Size: miniIpad6Plus
The quality is amazing. Especially for the price compared to other aviation oriented cases/products. I was initially worried about the magnetic attachment of the case, but my worry was unwarranted as I've never had an issue with the ipad detaching from the case. The kneeboard is comfortable and attaches easily with velcro. I also appreciate the magnetic apple pencil holder. Overall I am impressed with the quality and functionality of this product. ... show more

  • A collection of stuff more than an integrated product
Size: miniIpad5
I am a CFI who flies four different aircraft on a regular basis. I was looking for a compact iPad holder and writing kneeboard with small storage pockets. This would replace the two kneeboards I currently fly with; one for my iPad and one for writing/checklists/storage. Pros - Nicely packaged and well made (rugged) and should give many years of service. Good length and width. Good Leg strap design. The bad. It looks like a design inspired by a military kneeboard; there are several velcro patches and nylon straps that have no obvious purpose. The clipboard does not integrate with the iPad kneeboard and would need minor modifications to keep it from sliding out. The "stackup" was thicker than I would like. You can arrange the iPad to "flip-up" away from the writing surface but the tab of material that hold the iPad the seems flimsy. My overall impression is that it is a good concept that was not fully developed and refined before going to market. ... show more

  • Strong, Configurable, Great Service
Size: miniIpad5
I'll start with service as that experience is reflected in the quality of the product itself. I'm a new pilot. Inexperienced, I reached out directly to Crystal Pilot to get guidance on how to configure the Flight Pad. There are many configurations possible, pens, aluminum clipboard, ipad placement -- you get the idea. Hook and loop closures, flexible pouches, enable you to set it up the way you want. I reached out. Within a couple of hours, Crystal Pilot responded and offered to film a video. Next day, the video demonstrating a default way to use the pad arrived. Service was great and that commitment shows in the product: strong nylon, quality connections between strap, hook and loop pads, aluminum that doesn't easily deflect, and compact enough size that doesn't interfere with controls. ... show more
