But my Springer spaniel would have appreciated more visibility as he recovered from his patella repair procedure. Unlike the hard cone the surgery center sent him home with this one did prevent him from licking his incision, but the sensory deprivation was tough on him in an already unpleasant situation. It held up well through the four weeks he had to wear it. My dog recently had leg surgery to remove a tumor. We got the standard plastic cone from our vet and it was terrible. She could not drink water with it on so we had to constantly remove and replace it. With this one, we only remove twice a day at mealtime, and she looks WAY more comfortable. Both my dogs have worse allergies this year than usual, most likely from all the extra rain causing more weeds. They’ve been licking and biting themselves raw, even with regular baths & hot spot cream, so I had to get some cones so their skin could heal. I tried the puffy ‘UFO’ cones at first, but my larger dog has such long legs it was easy for him to push down to get to his paws where he’s been licking the most. In these I got an XL for him and an L for my smaller dog. The XL is just long enough to where my bigger dog can’t get to his paws. The L is a big long on my smaller dog, but the neck area just barely fit as she’s short but stocky - nevertheless it does fit! It slides down a bit when she stands so it’s not so long when she’s walking around. As you can see she is not thrilled, but the material seems like it will be nice and cool for them and it’s kind of like a pillow. ... show more

We use "cones" regularly because of rescue surgeries. Hard plastic cones often become weapons. Dogs are fond to run behind people, right at our heels. With a hard cone, that means dogs hit the back of our knees with that hard cone. Being hit at or just below the knee buckles the knee, prompting a fall. A soft hit is absorbed with no damage or impairment upon our walking. In short, a soft cone keeps us upright. ... show more

We got this cone a size bigger than we probably needed to, but by he time we got it, the dog we getting past the plastic cone from the surgeon to get to his stitches. Since it was big, it was awkward for him, but saying that he was able to eat and drink water

My dog is constantly having hot spots and we have always used the plastic cone. It works but he has worn it so much he uses it as a battering ram and takes out the back of my knees. The og plastic cone is a PAIN to get off and on. This cone us so much better on my knees and is soo easy to adjust but is strong enough to stay on him. ... show more
