  • Noticeably Faster than a SATA SSD
Capacity: 2TB Style: T500 W/Heatsink (PS5)
I built my computer about 4 or 5 years ago, and while my motherboard had 2 NVMe slots, I didn't use them, since those drives were too expensive at the time. Instead I used a SATA SSD, which was plenty fast. I was going to reformat my computer to get a fresh install (and try out Atlas OS for Win10), so I decided while I was at it, I should switch to a NVMe drive, now that they weren't so expensive. NVMe's are really easy to install, as you just have 1 screw to do. The Win10 install saw the disk just fine, I selected it, it formatted it, and worked great first try (no weird disk formatting issues or anything). The computer boots a lot faster, but some of that could be due to Atlas OS. *BUT* When I install a game on Steam/Epic/GOG, that's where the speed is really noticeable. The download is the same (as a SATA SSD was faster than anything my download speeds could imagine), but after you have the files the game always needs to install/patch/verify, and that's where the NVMe speed becomes apparent. I love how quickly it burns through those steps now! This has been my primary drive for about a month now, and I'm completely happy with it. ... show more

  • Superfast M.2 SSD.
Capacity: 2TB Style: T500
I purchased the Crucial T500 2 TB NVME m.2 SSD. It's an outstanding performer! It was easy to install in my i9 laptop and is much faster than other SSDs. In the few weeks that I've been using it, I have found it to be reliable. Cloning my original HD was made easier because Crucial provided access to the software to move my operating system and programs over from the old drive to this drive. Go ahead and buy this drive. You will be very happy you did. ... show more

  • Works as described
Capacity: 1TB Style: T500
Very fast and easy to install. Packaging is light and compact. The price was the best in value for this kind of performance. It comes without a screw so make sure you have one. I managed to get about 7300 mbs as described.

  • Excellent SSD
Capacity: 2TB Style: T500
Obtained this model to use as a secondary drive in a notebook computer. First one of this form factor I've used in any build. Very simple to install and get operational on Windows. Functions very well and greatly expanded the on-board storage capacity for a versatile notebook. I see using more of these in the future. ... show more

  • T500 - Great for most people
Capacity: 2TB Style: T500
Got this at 2tb for $101, and, judging by how the prices have shifted around since then, that might be the cheapest anybody will be able to find a comparable NVME drive for quite a while. For my personal home server and gaming applications this has been a flawless secondary drive. Now on paper this is a top performing drive and in the majority of benchmarks (and my usage) it does perform exactly as promised, but there are slight issues with random and sustained writes that have been reported on by enthusiast sites like storagereview. Do your research on how relevant that may be to your use case before using this as a boot drive for a workstation or putting it in an expensive ZFS array. But as a drive where I keep media files like books and some program/game installations, I haven't had a single problem or noticeably bad spike in latency in a month of use. Pros: -Good price and warranty -Very fast secondary drive for games and virtual machine storage (with DRAM which is rare in 7k+ MB/s read drives) -Power efficient -Issues mentioned may be fixed by driver updates (and are next to irrelevant to what I use it for) Cons: -... Issues may not be fixed by driver updates and there just might be a reason Crucial discounted this first wave of these so quickly that isn't it being the holiday season ... show more

  • Blistering speed over HDD
Capacity: 2TB Style: T500 W/Heatsink (PS5)
My computer is a few yrs old and was only equipped with a 512Mb NVME M.2 to act as my C;\Windows drive. I maintain a massive music drive, and game constantly. Once 90% full NVME's can crash. I have had to install any and all apps on a 4TB HDD, originally equipped. In spite of my precautions, my C: drive got to 90% full. I bought the Crucial T500 2TB Gen4 NVMe M.2. In cloning my boot drive to the new NVME, I wound writing over the HDD app's drive's partition table and resulted in my APP drive becoming unusable. Once correctly cloned, I had to reload all of my Steam apps (Games). I loaded a 56Gb game onto the HDD. It took 50 minutes to load. I noticed my Partition table was still corrupt, and reformatted it with correct partition parameters. I decided to use space on the Crucial drive. Hogwart's Legacy totally loaded in 10 minutes! (56Gb). Other games followed. I loaded 20 other games in less than 45 minutes. I copy my music library to MicroSD chips. It takes 2 and a half hours to copy. The Crucial drive only takes 30 minutes!!! HDD's are a thing of the past!!! ... show more
