My primary Hobby is oil painting, and I needed to create a couple of custom stencils for a project I'm working on . My daughter thought this Cricut would be the best way to create these stencils. It was super easy to connect to my laptop. I did not have any Bluetooth issues. I wouldn't say that I'm technically proficient, being an older person, but I had no trouble setting it up. I was able to use quickly AI to create the SVG files that were needed very easily, and it was easy to import the files from AI into the Cricut software. It was literally just drag and drop, and then the software automatically organized them on the page. It would be the least amount of waste possible. It worked the first time I printed it out! When she was describing the overall process to me, I thought I was going to need some additional cropping tools, so I bought third-party cropping tools. The reality is that the base package here comes with a cropping tool that I found to be more than adequate for everything that I had to do. The cropping was actually the most time-intensive part of the entire process, but I was watching a movie on Netflix as I did it, so it wasn't too much of a pain. I'm pretty impressed with the ease of setup and how fast I was able to do all this. Start to finish, it took less than an hour, and if I had to do it a second time, I'd be able to do it even faster, I got better at the cropping as I progressed It's so easy, in fact, I'm going to give this to my mother, who's 82. She really enjoys giving greeting cards that she makes herself to her friends. I think I can teach her how to use it, even. It's a pretty cool little machine. ... show more

This is my first time buying a cutting machine. I saw good reviews of it and I am a beginner too. For a beginner, this bundle is highly recommended! You get a lot of items with it, and it is very easy to work with. I bought this for peace of mind and to start creating projects. I am so eager to begin a little business. I already sold some stickers to my children’s classmates :) I think I will buy a bigger one later, but first I want to master the smaller ones. This one is just perfect for a beginner. For the cost, the kit comes with an amazing array of items to help you get started on making projects. I’m absolutely obsessed with my new Cricut. Honestly, I don’t know why I didn’t get one before. I now label everything, and EVERYONE gets a sticker lol. This is a very good beginner set. I’ve had to supplement extra markers and supplies, but you can make several projects just with the supplies given. It’s helpful to get used to the different items and figure out what you prefer to use (example: I love the ease of use with smart vinyl instead of a mat and regular vinyl). The app is fabulous. It’s so easy to use. But I will say that the free choices aren’t the best, so it definitely makes you want the access subscription, which is fine for me. I use it enough to make it worth it. Very disappointed with this purchase. I ordered a NEW Cricut Joy 2, but the package contained return authorization paperwork for the exact same Cricut Joy 2 Essential Bundle, strongly indicating that this unit had already been returned by a previous customer. Worse, the machine is defective. During the initial setup, the basic Cricut test cut was severely misaligned and distorted. I repeated the setup and test cut multiple times, restarted the machine, and even used a brand-new piece of Cricut Smart Vinyl. The exact same problem happened every time. I paid for a new machine, not someone else’s previously returned—and apparently defective—unit. This is completely unacceptable and raises serious concerns about how returned products are being handled. I am returning it for a full refund. I will not exchange it for another unit from the same inventory. ... show more
