Worked perfectly right out of the box. I come from a professional background and am used to operating Pro Software and Vinyl Cutters. The software takes a little getting used to, but once you figure out your work-flow, this setup becomes very trouble-free and gives me the results I need for my projects. I've done some research on the consumables and pricing seems to be on the reasonable side. My only worry is the carriage that holds the blade / markers / etc.....If this part breaks, it doesn't look like there's a fixable option and everyone ends up having to purchase a new machine. This is probably my. only gripe. If I'm wrong, I'd love for Cricut, or anyone for that matter, to let me know where parts can be purchased. ... show more

Where to start??….. love Cricut and have just dived into the Cricut world but so far I’m loving it. I started with the Explore 4 and love it too! The only thing I’ve done so far on the 5 is make some T shirts for my daughter’s cheer and dance team but the cuts are amazing and there’s so many things you can do with this Cricut. It cuts and can laser etch into metal!!! Compared to the Explore 4 which is the only other model I’ve used, I love that this version feels more open compared to the 4. Also a bit more compact. It’s definitely faster than the 4 hands down. The pop in pen holder is a cool edition as well! The Explore model is so versatile and easy to use once you decide what you want to create. My advice is to choose one thing and finish it before trying something new as this can get overwhelming with so many many options you can design and create. If you have the explore 4 , I probably wouldn’t upgrade to the 5 unless it’s just dire that you need something cut a few seconds faster. If you don’t have the explore at all then I wish definitely go with the Explore 5! I feel like the Explore 5 is quiet , versatile, compact but still same 12 inch cutting, easy to use once you have your settings where you want them, and I couldn’t be happier with the new model, other than….. Cricut give us some more colors to choose from!! Pink!!! Purple!!!! ... show more

So far, this is the best Cricut I've used and I've used a couple, the last being the Cricut Explore 3. Fyi, I regularly work with vector programs so the program comes alot more naturally to me so keep this in mind as you read my review. The program for the Cricut Explore 3 and a little confusing at first, but I was quickly able to get used to the program once I realized how it functioned. The program is not super user friendly and I can see how it can frustrate the average user. The UI isn't very self explanatory and in order to get results I wanted, I had to adjust the files alot in Adobe Illustrator. I really love the new program that comes with the Cricut Explore 5. It's a lot more user friendly and I noticed I don't have to make as many adjustments in other programs. The program doesn't force you to resort to other programs like before to edit art files and the results come out quite nicely. It's not as large or noisy as the last Cricut and is able to easily fit onto an average desk. You also don't need to take up as much space to use the functions. I like the new functions introduced as well, such as auto-detecting stickers and cutting around them. It's less time-consuming and makes more mass production as home alot easier and affordable. Really loving the upgrades, the sleekness of the design, and ease of use now. Great upgrade from your usual machine! ... show more

The new Cricut explorer 5 is a very anti consumer upgrade. This was my wife's first Cricut and its is very locked down. We bought pens for Cricut and branded by Cricut at a Michaels and they do not fit. in fact i could not but the new "universal fit" pens in store period. For anyone who already owns a previous model, new accessories will have to be purchased to make it work. ... show more

It connects well and appears to work as intended, though I'm NOT a fan of the Cricut software or digital content. It does move at an enjoyable speed, though its versatility is somewhat limited and compared to our Silhouette Cameo 4 I wouldn't consider this much of an upgrade. It doesn't feel any more durable and the quality is about the same. I do have to give it some points for ease of use in regards to the auto-run function after scanning the cutting pad, but it's a minor change. ... show more

This machine is a brick. Cricut Explore 5 doesn't even show up as an option on their own Cricut Design Space software. I can't even use the machine.
