I like them because they fit in my pocket. They work well on nuts or bolts up to about 5/8”. I’m 73 years old and I grew up working in my daddy’s service station in the 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s. I still carry a pair every day in my front pocket. They have many uses.

I purchased another brand of small pliers that didn't stay locked into the groove. They would slip out and open up. It has been my experience that when buying smaller tools, they don't always function like they were intended to. The tolerance or clearance built into larger tools causes problems with smaller tools if they are not manufactured with more precision. This has been the case with all kinds of items I have purchased. I build smaller models and needed a good set of pliers I could firmly grab onto parts while holding them in place, or tighten screws. I have found that this set locks in very well. You can apply pressure and they stay where you need them. They are small enough to fit into tight places.     • Cheap Alternative to Multi-Tool
A friend carries these instead of a Leatherman-type multi-tool since pliers tend to be the most useful part of a Leatherman and these inexpensive, compact, lightweight and purpose-designed pliers are better than any fold-up substitute. I decided he was right, and doubly for me since I already carry an old-school Swiss Army knife anyway. These are actually a lot smaller than they show in the picture and if you have large hands forget it, they're really not useful. But it would be a fun thing to put in a stocking at Christmas I guess
