There are 3 sets in this listing and my review is for the 229 piece set. This is really a nice set and provides a great foundation to build on. What you have here are the most frequently used home mechanic tools. Whether that means working on your car, boat, motorcycle, bicycle, home appliances or whatever. The fit and finish on this product are excellent. The chrome finish is spot on and the construction is well executed. All sockets stay on the ratchets until you press the button on the back of the ratchet to release them. I can't tell you how many times I've cost myself hours trying to fetch an errant socket that slipped of my old ratchet. Not a problem with this set. I also like the 5 degree swing arc on the ratchets and the direction switches work as expected. This has metric and SAE sizing for sockets, allen and combo wrenches and it's well marked and easy to read. The metric sockets have a texture toward the bottom of the socket which helps to identify what's what. The case is what you expect for this class of tool set. It's nice and will keep you organized. But watch out because unless you like puzzles you want to keep this upright. As delivered my center draw was a bit of a mess and required about 10-15 minutes to get everything put into it's place. I've had sets like this long ago and one of the worst things that can happen is to be carrying a drawer by itself and trip - let me tell you that really sucks. Hopefully that doesn't ever happen to you but it is a risk. Just a fact of life and not worth deducting a star on this classy set. The case also has a some room in the top (where the combo wrenches are) to store extras. I'll use it for LockTite and odds and ends (maybe some miniature combo wrenches). Other nice things included are the allen wrenches and various bits that can fit in the screwdriver handle. Absolutely can recommend this set which if taken care of should last your lifetime - plus some.

This would be a decent set to give someone who is a first time homeowner or new to DIY auto repair. I picked it up for my teenager to use so he would (hopefully) stop borrowing from my toolbox. My complaints with this set have to do with the selection of tools and what is NOT included vs some of the items seemingly included just to increase the total number of tools. FYI: The 1/4" sockets are all 6-point, the 3/8" shallow sockets are 12-point, the 3/8" deep sockets are 6-point, and the 1/2" sockets are 12-point. Pros: - Good quality tools for a new homeowner or someone just starting to get into DIY auto repair. If you are looking for a gift for someone who is into tools they will already have everything included here. - A decent storage case for someone without a dedicated toolbox Cons: - The largest wrenches included are 15mm and 5/8". Most wrench sets include up to 19mm and 3/4". (Including wrenches up to 22mm and 1" to match the sockets would have made this a much more useful set). - 55 screwdriver bits, 2 sets of standard hex keys AND 2 sets of metric hex keys included to boost the "tool" count to 229. 3 flat screwdriver bits would have been plenty (S, M, & L), but this set includes 11! Hex/Allen keys already have short and a long side so including both a short and long set in standard and metric is unnecessary. - 1/2" drive sockets are shallow depth only. No 1/2" deep sockets included. - The case doesn't hold the sockets in place well enough. If you are using this as a mobile toolkit be prepared to sort and reorganize the sockets from time to time - especially the 3/8" drawer. That drawer hates me.

This is a solid mechanic set for my home garage. The set is stored in a plastic case that works well enough. It does lock up in order to not come open when carrying it around, which is great. All of the wrenches are in the top of the case, and everything else is fit in to three plastic drawers. Each drawer slides all the way out and can be placed while working for quick access. Like many sets, the piece count is padded out with hex/allen wrenches, which is always disappointing, but even with that, it's still a solid mechanics set.

You're getting a lifetime warranty on these tools from a reputable company. The 229-piece set I received included two 1/4" 7/16 sockets and was missing the 3/8" 11mm. Their support team was available on Veteran's Day and sent out a replacement with zero hassle. This is a very practical set for someone who is starting out. The count does include 32 hex keys and 55 bits, but those are tools you will need if you don't already own them. There are a total of 12 wrenches, sizes 8mm, 10mm, 12mm, 13mm, 14mm, 15mm, 5/16", 3/8", 7/16", 1/2", 9/16", and 5/8". A nice range of sockets are included for each drive size, and all three ratchets are 72-tooth quick release with a 5° swing arc for tight spaces. The molded toolbox feels quite durable and is well secured by 4 latches on top and two vertical latches on either side of the drawers. The top handle has a rubberized grip and feels sturdy. There is also space in the top section to store additional items along with the wrenches. This is a great set to keep in your vehicle for roadside repairs. Did I mention the lifetime warranty?

I’ve used and own quite a few Crescent tools and haven’t had an issue yet, so when I saw this 229 piece set with a case I couldn’t pass it up. Great brand of tools. First off, I’m really digging this case, very durable hard plastic, with 3 drawers, that’s secure by 2 snaps on the front, can be hard to snap open at first, but that has loosened up some over time, the lid has 4 easy to open and close snaps that house the wrenches and some storage area, 2 on the front and 2 on the sides. It has 2 side carry handles, and a rubberized handle on top that’s thick and comfortable. As for the tools, they look superior, flawless finish. Has 3 different size ratchets, all has smooth action and nice clicks to them, each has plenty of socket sizes to choose from. And has plenty of hex key Allen wrenches to boot. Definitely recommend the 229 piece Crescent tool set.

In my opinion, this set has a decent amount of different size sockets, and I mean don’t get me wrong. The ratchet sockets and other tools are obviously have a good quality. It’s pretty much a given when you’re dealing with this brand. top that was a lifetime warranty and they really are a great company and there isn’t necessarily anything bad or wrong with the set by any means this is definitely more of a personal opinion, but I just think the whole plastic drawers and thickness, and everything is a complete waste complete waste of material complete waste of room lots of added extra weight plus so much for all for really nothing everything just seems disproportionate. What does that for some reason like if you pull out all three trays, we realize that you don’t actually get a ton of tools/is a ton of plastic out of this ridiculous case , but with that aside, it’s simply more of an annoyance. I personally buy these types of sets for like portable or only go situations and quite frankly I wouldn’t even want to carry this across the parking lot away so much and I don’t mind other similar drawer style socket sets as they are in a couple myself I like having the separation makes it much easier to find things, but on all the others I have it’s like they molded the case correctly size also upon opening there is pretty much sockets everywhere. I had to spend a good 45 minutes re-organizing and put it all back together which I think is a fairly common thing for something like this, but figured it was worth mentioning .

I have been a fan of Crescent Tools for a long time, as they were made in USA quality tools. This set is made in Taiwan... that being said, the Taiwanese have been making quality tools for many years now. Heavy duty feel on the sockets and ratchets... nice fit in the hand. Ratchets have super smooth action. There are few available wrenches in this set. The wrenches are super slim but solid. Need more wrench selection!!! Too many allen wrenches, misc nut drivers and screwdriver tips. The case is hard plastic and a little bulky. Trays are removable but tray contents are not securely held in place. Sockets just lay in the tray so they will spill all over the floor if handled improperly. The case itself holds the trays in securely with two side flaps and has 4 clips on the top lid, keeping it secure as well. Overall a great looking, heavy duty tool set that will last for many, many years. A great gift idea for birthdays or Christmas. 5 Star***** Recommended!!!
