We bought two (2) of these almost exactly two years ago for our twin daughters. Since they were just barely 3 years old, we weren't sure they were going to stick with violin playing so we didn't want to spend a lot for their instruments. Just a few months of violin rental fees would have cost as much as what we paid for these. Their instructor, who plays for the symphony orchestra in a very large metropolitan area suggested that one of her students had gotten this particular brand and model. We went ahead and ordered them and were very pleased with the price-quality ratio. Fit and finish for both the bow and the violin were fine and the sound was acceptable for such small violins. The two units were also consistent in performance and sound quality, although one had a slightly darker finish. Woe to anyone who suggests to these kids that these instruments are interchangeable. Each kid has to have her own violin set, and refuses to play the other one. They came with a rigid case with double (bi-directional) main zipper, zippered accessory compartment, and backpack-type straps to make it easy for the little ones to carry. The only accessory we had to add was a shoulder rest for each violin. Our only complaint was minor and had nothing to do with the actual instruments. In one of the units, one of the 4 screws attaching the suitcase-type handle to the case came loose and was lost, although we seldom use the carry handles, preferring to handle them by the backpack straps. The pegs hold the string tension and are easy to adjust without having to add peg drops, and the fine tuners work fine. We do have to check the tuning prior to every practice session. Aside from the occasional broken horsehair from the bow (which happens even in professionals' instruments), both violins are intact and have been able to withstand the abuse of our little kids. As this is a small scale violin, the sound quality is nowhere near that of a full sized instrument. However, it is sufficient for young kids as they learn the mechanics of playing and the pitch of musical notes. We are now getting ready to buy the next larger size (1/8) as both kids have outgrown these.

Amazing violin at this price. I have played nearly 20 years and have played violins ranging over $20,000.00 with bows ranging upwards to $5,000.00 - This violin set is an amazing value at this price. I see nothing wrong with it at all, not any of it, and I'm still looking it over in amazement. While the more expensive violins have some detailing that can be noticed to be more finely crafted, when it comes down to it, do you buy a violin for how it looks? or how it plays? This violin and bow not only looks great, the best part is it also sounds wonderful, not like a toy like some of the others in this price range. This is a real violin and bow by every definition. The genuine Brazilwood bow is well-balanced with wonderful details and has good 'bounce' even for a more advanced player. The case is strong and light. Even comes with first-class rosin that I would compare to the finest grade French Millant dark rosin which has superb finish and is not sticky. There's everything you need in this set-up and at an unbelievable price. All you need are lessons with a good teacher and your own willingness to practice and you will be enjoying the adventure and accomplishment that comes from learning to play the violin.

I'm writing this review from COVID ridden 2020. This violin was purchased for my daughter's 7th grade virtual orchestra class. The price is extremely attractive. It was less expensive than the rental fee through her school which is what prompted us to buy this model. The fingerboard and the body are of good quality. The instrument feels nice in the hands. Though it felt light to both of us but that is likely due to the fact that both my daughter and I are guitar players. The bow is good quality as well. The general sound is fine. There is a massive issue with this violin though. The tuners are extremely weak. So weak in fact that you can see them unwinding under the tension of the string. The higher strings cannot even tune to the appropriate notes (the A and E strings). G and D strings do OK but will need to be tuned with every single play session and likely during the session even if the session is short. For the A and E strings we've been trying to get within a step to a step and half of the desired note and then use the fine tuners from there but we end up at least 3 steps below as the tuners unwind before our eyes. The fine tuners will NOT get you there either. The range is about 2 to -maybe- 2 and half steps. If you are wanting your kid (or yourself) to have a good experience playing and thus continue playing, this is NOT the instrument you want. Having a poor experience playing will create a block to enjoyment that could last a lifetime. Don't buy this garbage. You will be better off renting from school or spending more on a higher quality instrument.

This nice Cremona SV-75 Premier Novice Violin, 1/8 Size, is hand-carved in solid Spruce and its top, neck, back and sides are hand-carved in solid Maple. The purfling is painted and its finish is a warm brown finish, exactly as shown on the picture. It also has dyed Rosewood fingerboard and fittings, as well as dyed hardwood chinrest VP-61 tailpiece with 4 built-in fine tuners. It comes in a beautiful featherweight arched-top shaped hard case with blue exterior and light grey velvet interior. On the outside, there is a pocket to store music sheets (if you fold them) or house keys, nothing too bulky but very practical. Inside the case, you will find a VP-71 bow: wood stick rosewood frog and unbleached horsehair C-3907. Strings have a limited lifetime. Apart from obvious things, such as the winding of a string coming undone from wear, players generally change a string when it no longer plays true, losing the desired tone. String longevity depends on string quality and playing intensity. You are provided with those on the violin, but no extra strings. You also have Rosin provided. Players of bowed string instruments rub cakes or blocks of rosin on their bow hair so it can grip the strings and make them speak. Lighter rosin is used for violins, darker for cellos, special type for basses. Violin rosin can be applied to the underside of bridges in other musical instruments, such as the Banjo and Banjolele, in order to prevent the bridge from moving during vigorous playing. The violon is exactly as shown on the picture, every piece is where it is supposed to be. The only exception is that you have to install the bridge yourself (and it is like that to make sure that nothing will be broken during the shipping process) and tune it afterwards. IT IS PERFECT FOR BEGINNERS NEEDING A RUGGED VIOLIN, AND WHOSE RUDIMENTARY TECHNIQUE DOES NOT JUSTIFY THE EXPENSE OF A MORE CAREFULLY MADE ONE (SINCE YOU NEED SOME TIME TO SEE IF THE STUDENT WILL WANT TO CONTINUE PLAYING, LIKES IT, ETC.) AT WHICH TIME, ONCE THE CHILD HAS FULLY GROWN, YOU INVEST IN A FULL SIZE EXCELLENT QUALITY ONE. I RECOMMEND THIS VIOLIN TO ALL PARENTS WHO HAVE A SMALLER BUDGET BUT WANT TO PROVIDE THEIR CHILD WITH THE GIFT OF LEARNING MUSIC.

I purchased this violin for my 3 year old so that she could be just like Big Sis. Now, I had already purchased the MV300 and when I received it I noticed that while it was a lot nicer than the toy violins on the market, this would not work for us. The stings were poor quality and the pegs never stayed in place. This is not what you want while trying to teach your toddler the violin. They have no patience when it comes to tuning before and during playing. I ended up returning the MV300 and spent the extra money to purchase the Cremona SV-75 1/16. Oh my, what a difference! Right away you can see the quality difference. The stings were noticeably better and the finish looks far more durable. I'm not a huge fan of the lacquer finishes on instruments but for a toddler I will make the exception for sure. When I tuned it, my husband and I were pleasantly surprised by the bright loud sound! It tuned easily and there is minimal slipping of the pegs. The outfit comes with one bow that is a starter quality, a case, and rosin. We will eventually upgrade the bow but for now it works. All in all I'm very happy with this purchase. It was worth the extra money.

I'm a professional violist and violinist, and I was expecting this to have the typical problems of a violin of this size and price range: difficult to tune, high strings, misshapen bridge, poor nasally tone, cheap bow that barely functions. I was pleasantly surprised on all fronts. The initial tuning and settling in of the strings was basically identical to my own experience, it took 3-4 days of tuning for the strings to settle, but pitch changes are minimal and natural. The now comes with zero rosin, so plan to rosin for about 10 minutes preferably with a decent quality rosin. The bridge is already setup and I didn't have to shift it around much to straighten after tuning the first time. The sound is really good for this size and it seemed like it will be easy for my child to get around once we start using the fingers (it was for a third birthday present). So far this is an excellent starter violin at 1/10, which I got a little big for longevity (and she won't really use her fingers for awhile).

My child has been using this for 22 Months (Feb 2015- Nov 2016). For the price, it is an excellent product. Until today we did not have any issues with this violin. Around mid-November 2016 the bow string has been tearing apart because my child has been treating it very badly. We also did not take any precautions to prevent it (Like small mite protection etc) . Last week I have ordered a Quarter size from Cremona on amazon using my second amazon account. If you are under budget and looking for a product that lasts enough then this is the one to buy.It comes with a pretty solid case as well as rosin. Another option I had was to rent a violin for $30 per month (Kind of an insured rental) which would have cost me $660. Whereas, the same result is achieved under $130. We can buy a protection plan for a few more $$ if really concerned. Overall, I am very satisfied with this. I am not an expert in this area to criticize very detailed aspects.
