Bought as a backup/second tool to use with a blue wing olive pattern. I have had this cut me off 4 times now and i have been using it all of 30min... It's so sturdy and i love the fact it has a lot of tension but it's too sharp for the nylon

The photo in the listing shows a bobbin with a flared end. The one that I received doesn’t have a flared end, or an insert, just a sharp edge that cuts the thread almost instantly. Which is a shame because otherwise it seems to be a quality unit. I buffed the burred edge of the tube and that helps, but it’s not great. ... show more

It may not seem like the highest honor in a review to say something works like it's supposed to, but I beg to differ. This bobbin holds my thread and it's affordable enough to get a few at a time so I don't need to spend time switching out threads. No one ties flies to save money but having multiple bobbins saves more than money; it saves time. You may need to use the same 3x magnifiers you used to tie that #22 midge to get this thing threaded, but once it is you should be good for a number of buggers, wooly and otherwise. ... show more
