Description

The Crain No. 835 Heavy Duty Undercut Saw Kit replaces the No. 825 Saw with 60% more power. This powerful saw undercuts walls, door jambs, doors, inside corners and most toe spaces. The 6-1/2" diameter No. 836 Carbide Tipped Steel Blade can fully undercut most doors in place and when used with the No. 805 Masonry Blade, can also be used for undercutting hearths. Height of cut is easily adjustable from flush to 1" above the floor with 3/32" graduations. The large height adjuster base helps prevent tipping and assures accurate, level cutting. Has a dual angle depth gauge which allows undercutting at a ‘straight on’ or 45° angle. Depth gauge is graduated in 1/8" increments with a 1-5/8" maximum depth of cut. Saw has a 7' 14/2 cord and is double insulated for safety. Caution: Depth of undercut should not exceed wallboard thickness (generally 1/2") to avoid structural weakening caused by cutting nails, wall studs or sill plates, and to avoid blade damage by hitting nails. Each Saw Kit includes Nos. 805 Masonry Blade, 836 Carbide Tipped Steel Blade, 1812-P Blade Clamp (needed for use with the Nos. 805 Masonry Blade and optional 822 Diamond Blade), saw, plastic carrying case, hex wrench for blade removal and instructions.

  • Awesome saw!
Purchased for large hardwood flooring project. Needed to undercut a large stone hearth and with the diamond blade it cut without effort. The vac attachment is a must when cutting stone. Undercutting door jambs was nothing for this saw. It is powerful so a strong hand is a must so it doesn’t jump out of the cut and getcha for those times you don’t stay parallel. Highly recommend this quality saw. For a home project it’s overkill unless you just like having a quality tool in case the need arises. ... show more

  • cuts thru old hardwood trim
Hard to tell from pictures, but if you look closely there is some old hardwood trim that has been glued down to subfloor so it cannot be pulled. I'm guessing they dint want to cut out thin strips of drywall to support it for nailing so they glued it to subfloor? Whats even crazier is that theres 2 subfloors here... One where the trim is glued onto and another someone put down so build the floor up. First subfloor guy dint remove the trim. So the drywallers had to work around it, and now the floor guy (me) is here... This headache is a perfect example of "let the next guy deal with it". This saw just buzzed thru all of it like it wasn't even there. The depth stop is amazing, not a single scratch on any of the studs. Was able to install the floating floor proper. Just gatta put down some supporting drywall strips for the trim. This saw really saved me that day. ... show more

  • Best of the best!
This saw is amazing, definitely for professional use! I feel like some of the lower ratings of this saw are from people who don't know how to use it properly and lack experience and common sense of floor installation. Of course with any saw of this type going into door jambs and corners you often have to finish with a multi-tool blade anyway so you can get a more precision cut in the little nooks and crannies of the door jamb otherwise you will be cutting too deep on the rest of the baseboard. Definitely put a strip of duct tape on the guide so you don't mark up light colored trim "common sense", and the blade guard put a tiny little strip on the tip of that too and you're good to go for many job sites. Dust collector shoot is great 👍 to attach your shop vacuum to, make sure you use hepa filter in shop vacuum. "Again, common sense" Excellent tool, superior quality, so worth the price! I've been using the same blade on many job sites and no issues oh, it still cuts like It's new! I think some of the people complaining about the blades getting dull are people cutting through nails and other materials the wood blade is not meant for. "Set your depth properly" won't be an issue. ... show more

Worked great and has plenty of power. Has vacuum port and I recommend using it.

  • A serious piece of Machinery.
I ordered this tool for a hardwood installation project encompassing my entire second floor. Because I had to lay a significant subfloor, all the existing molding had to be trimmed. This weapon was easy to use and made short work of the job—nails and all. Highly recommend. Worth the price

  • Absolute beast!
Amazing saw. Well worth the cost. Originally purchased it for undercutting a brick hearth. After wasting time trying to rent one , I went ahead and bought one. Great investment.

  • This saw is POWERFUL!
This is a very powerful saw that will cut through pretty much anything - with the right blade. I have used it to cut through many old-school heavy-duty steel door frames filled with mortar/concrete using the 805 masonry blade (make sure to buy a few extra). It cut through them easily. Wood is a joke, it will cut through any wood frames like a hot knife through butter. It's also very adjustable and precise. It’s super heavy duty. Highly recommended. Just watch for the sparks when cutting metal frames. ... show more
