  • Amazing quality!!
Size: Large
I could not be happier with my purchase!! Even though these wouldn’t exactly fit the measurements of the cinderblocks, the quality was exceptional. We had to make a few adjustments to make it work for 8 inch cinderblocks and it was well worth it. You can’t beat the price with the quality material. For people that have walls that are 8 inch thick or thicker, it’s not necessary to try to use the metal in the tunnels. You can use the frame and doggie doors and fill the rest with concrete. It worked perfectly for us! ... show more

  • Very Happy Dogs- Closure is definetly different
Recently moved and in the process made a deal with one of the dogs that if new house didn't have a sliding glass door he could have a bigger dog door if he'd use it. 6" wide dog door, 6 3/4" wide dog, and 2 story house, he was more frequently not making it outside. Dogs love the dog door. Even the particular 'puppy' who doesn't do double flaps, has got it down! They're happy. They can come and go. Torment the neighbor when we get to enjoy his music in the house. The insert to close the opening is very different from any other dog door I've ever seen. It's aluminum, most are plastic, and its designed with the intention that it never is fully removed from the opening. Doesn't get lost that way. There's a screw with a large head, almost knob sticking out in the bottom of of the 'flap'. Lift the bottom edge to the top of the door and tighten the screw, door is open. Loosen the screw, and you can close the door. One thing I do really like is that when you close it the 'flap' drops completely behind the frame of the dog door, inside the wall. Previous dog doors, the closure piece has only dropped down even with or dropped down in front of the bottom edge of the frame. All of my chihuahuas learned if they could get their paw or nose under the edge they could still get out. No locking them in the house with the skunk in the yard. They did then lock themselves outside. You can still remove it completely like most. I find it much more difficult than traditional ones to inset into the track so hoping the screw holds out. Especially given no crittters in the yard so far so not really a need to close it.... I really liked the unique size of this dog door. It is slightly larger than the average dog door of comparable size. With little dogs this makes a big difference. Small breeds are unique in many many ways, often long legs/or short legs, wide chests, and long bodies means nothing fits or works without major customization first. The standard small dog door at 5" wide and 8" tall, or cat door 7.25"wide 10" tall are generally rated for dogs/cats 12-15lbs. Little 'puppy' chihuahua at 9lbs can do that, but the two brothers at 10.5 and 12 lbs it's a wiggle dance. I didn't make the fat dog wiggle anymore, the small size would've been an upgrade as it is 6.3" wide, average small dog door is only 5" wide, or 6.0" for sliding glass door. I went with medium door, and up to flap opening 9.25" wide and height of 12.9" most standard med dog doors are only 8" wide and 12" tall. At 8" wide he flies right through at full speed he gets going to get up the very steep ramp he slides down going out, 3ft vertical drop in over 2ft distance, and its 45 ft through the house before he comes to a stop. Happy, old, fat dog. ... show more

  • Poorly designed extension.
If you're mounting to a door and don't need the extension, this will probably work great. The outer two pieces match well. However, the extension pieces snap together, poorly, and then have to be screwed around the outer edges on each piece. This creates two issues. One, the screw heads that attach the extension don't sit flush, meaning there's no chance these doors will mount flush against a flat wall with the extension attached. Also, my wall thickness is just over 4 1/2 inches. If I use one extension, that's not enough of the extension to adequately bridge the tunnel... it just barely covers the outer edge of the other sides. If I use both extensions, then the pieces won't slide together because the extension snags on the opposite main piece. even outside of a wall, I couldn't get these pieces to fit together at a distance of 4 1/2 inches, and if I can't test join these pieces outside of a wall, there's no point in trying it inside the wall. Also, my extension pieces fit perfectly for side B, but they didn't fit side A and had to be forced. I stripped a screw and one of the pieces bent. It seems like the extension was an afterthought. Bummed that I have to send this back and find a different product, and that I wasted three hours trying to figure out how to remove the flaps and test fit it. ... show more

  • Very well made but design misses
Strong and nicely put together but the design is not what it could be. Each side (inside and outside) has a sheet metal flange that attaches so that it projects into the wall opening. This flange is about 3.5 inches and there are 2 of them. One for each side. The 4 piece flanges slip fit together somewhat imperfectly. They attach with tiny screws to the frames. From the description I assumed that these flanges slipped one into the other to make a telescoping “tunnel” through the wall which would be adjustable from about 3” to around 7” giving you tunnel from one flap to the other. This would greatly simplify installation in hollow wall ( most of USA) installations. You could avoid a lot of trim work in the cavity. Alas, this does not happen. Both flanges are exactly the same size so one cannot fit inside the other. 1/4 inch difference would have done it. They also should have been made of heavier metal and were not quite sized right. This caused some buckling problems on my installation. ... show more

  • Thought it was great, but….
Size: Large
Immediately after install it was great. Love the durable frame. However after two weeks the door flaps came off. One is salvageable but the other wasn’t. Having difficulty trying to find compatible replacement flaps.
