Although I regularly try to save money on makeup items, foundation is the one thing I will splurge on. I don't know if I can name brands here, but I've been using a really lovely "tinted serum" + SPF lately that I was in love with. I've probably passed right by this CoverGirl Simply Ageless foundation pot a hundred times without giving it consideration. It popped up on a " related to your interests" feed, and I guess, on a whim, hypnotized by the swirl maybe? I just added it to the cart. I am so freaking glad I did! I'm not kidding when I say that every time I passed my reflection wearing this I was surprised and happy at the natural looking coverage and overall brightness I saw in my face. You can apply this with a brush and build up the coverage, but I've been using my fingers to blend and apply for a more natural look. The texture is thick, but lightweight like a whipped butter. Its almost grippy like a good serum/primer (without the heaviness). There is kind of a bounciness to it, if you know what I mean, and my skin felt soft, plumped,and young. The scent reminded me of that familiar CoverGirl smell I remember from junior high when I swore by their powder compact. Why did I ever leave you, CoverGirl? This is a fantastic buy considering now I love it more than my $49 tinted serum foundation. My skin is normal to dry, so I can speak to its effectiveness on this type of skin. It is moisturizing, so I'm not sure how it would work on oilier skin types. Glad I took the chance on this. Hope they never stop making it!

Now that I’m in my late 30s, I’ve realized my skin just doesn’t work well with super thick, full-coverage foundations anymore. Heavy makeup tends to settle into texture and make everything look worse instead of better. At the same time though, I still deal with acne scars, uneven redness, and combination skin, so finding a balance has been difficult. This foundation has honestly been one of the best middle-ground products I’ve found. It gives really nice coverage without looking overly thick or cakey on the skin. It smooths out a lot of my redness and acne scarring while still looking natural enough for everyday wear. My skin still actually looks like skin instead of feeling covered in a heavy layer of makeup. I also appreciate that it works well with combination skin. Some foundations either cling to dry spots or turn greasy quickly, but this one stays pretty balanced throughout the day for me. Another thing I noticed is that it has a softer, more flattering finish on mature skin compared to matte foundations that can emphasize every little line or texture issue. If you’re getting older and struggling to find makeup that gives coverage without making your skin look heavy or overdone, this is definitely worth trying.

***UPDATED*** 2 Weeks Later.. *The first time I reviewed this foundation I had only used it once and thought it was good/okay. I've been using it for almost 2 weeks now and decided it deserves an update. Here's what I've learned.. First and foremost, in my initial review I failed to notice that this foundation has a BROAD SPECTRUM SPF, which is an important factor in any skin care of beauty routine. Second, I love how BRIGHTENING this foundation is! It isn't thick or cakey, but goes on oh so smooth, and because of how brightening it is, I really don't need to fuss with much highlighter. Third... And this is the biggest reason why I'm reviewing a second time.. I originally gave this foundation 3 stars but have bumped that up to 5. I feel kind of dumb because I work in the beauty industry she totally missed the point of this foundation the first time around. When I saw the advertising for "Ageless" and that it floats over lines and wrinkles I assumed it would conceal those imperfections and was annoyed that I could still see my fine lines after applying. TOTALLY NOT THE POINT! The idea is that it IS antiaging because the product isn't sitting in those lines (and pores!) making them deeper and larger, which in turn helps your skin stay younger looking. I really feel silly for not picking up on that right away. So... You've got SPF, Peptides, and it won't settle into your lines and pores. This foundation is a winner! Thank you Cover Girl!! *FIRST REVIEW/FIRST DAY* Today I used my new Covergirl & Olay Simply Ageless Wrinkle Defy Foundation. I was sent this product for free from Covergirl for testing and review purposes. First impression of this product is that it is good.. But I wasn't blown away. I love that it contains peptides, which as an esthetician are a key component in many of my favorite products. I am pretty picky about foundation, but am by no means a make-up pro. Here is a breakdown of my overall opinion on this product.. 1. Easy color matching. Because I was sent this product for review purposes, I had to choose/guess what shade would suit my skin tone, which is light to medium with very red undertones. I went with Creamy Natural and found that it is a perfect match for my skin. (For comparison, I use Medium Beige Bare Minerals). 2. The foundation comes with an applicator sponge, which is what I used to apply. The foundation goes on silky smooth and is very easy to blend. Some foundations I have tried seem to coat every baby hair/peace fuzz/rogue blonde eyebrow on my face, but this one did not. I found the finish to be very natural looking, which is incredibly important to me! 3. As far as the Anti-Aging component, this is why I only gave this product 3 stars. I actually felt that it highlighted my wrinkles, specifically my "crows feet" which I have NEVER been concerned with before. Usually it's fine lines on my forehead and glabella that bother me the most. If you look at my before and after photos, you can see (or at least I saw) that my crows feet stood out more in the "after" photo. I'll give it another try tomorrow and see if I get the same effect. Maybe it was poor lighting, but I did take the picture in my usual "selfie spot" :D. I won't give up on this foundation just yet because it actually did a really nice job blurring my acne scars, which is one of my biggest concerns when looking for a new foundation. It also scored big with me for how well it concealed my very red undertones. For the retail price, I think this is a good foundation. Certainly much better than others I have tried and if I can avoid the expensive department store brands I definitely will. Covergirl & Olay Simply Ageless Wrinkle Defy Foundation is worth trying for sure.

The color match to my skin was almost perfect! The makeup is best applied with a patting motion rather than swiping as the coverage is tends to have a little cakeiness without patting. My skin type is a bit dry and this added a bit of moisture to my face. Overall, I'd recommend it based on the value for money and the added convenience of a one-stop method.

I really love the way this looks on my skin, but I have dry skin so I make sure that I do my skincare first which includes toner, serum, and moisturizer. If I were to apply this without my skincare, I might not look that great, but that goes with every foundation. I didn’t think this would do much, but it can be built up to a good medium coverage without looking cakey. I’m always buying high-end foundations thinking that they will look better on my 45 yr old maturing skin, however, my 23 yr old daughter came over for a visit and said “Mom, try this. It’s pretty good.” Then she showed me a swatch so I could see the consistency and applied some to her cheek. It was creamy and it didn’t have a suncreen odor like a lot of SPF foundations have. I thought it looked really beautiful on her so I decided to order some. I am here to report that I have been using this foundation daily for nearly 2 weeks straight. I think what I like about it the most is the fact that it’s pressed in a compact and makes applying my makeup quick & easy because a girl can get lazy. I don’t even have to bust out my makeup brushes or sponges because it comes with a little spongey that works great 😂 The photo is taken of me with my full skincare on and a generous layer of this Covergirl pressed foundation. I did not use setting powder. But I did apply some highlighter on my upper cheeks and the tip of my nose. Also, I used zero filters. I think it looks smooth & natural. What do you think?? Don’t sleep on this. I highly recommend it and I will re-purchase (probably 2-3 more) when I run out.

I feel so confident in this make up! I have to be honest I do dilute it with a pump of snail muchin and it makes a PERFECT consistency with an added punch of drink for my skin with the added product in it. I swirl it around and then gently apply toy skin with a large round brush . My medi nurse asked me to send a picture of what I use ony skin bc it gives an absolute FLAWLESS finish. My coworkers didn't even know I had freckles bc the coverage is so flawless it looks like your own beautiful shining skin. Also I'm 43 now and my skin has changed with age but I still care about it tremendously.
