Not sure what is meant by "French" violet, but to me violet should be some shade in the purple family. It looked violet on the Amazon site, and even allowing for screen differences, the actual color was more brown, even coppery. My photo shows it on my white forearm underside. This is a very fluid creamy formula. It dries fairly quick and then is stable. It was too creamy for my eyelids which are hooded. Beautiful colors available.
