What's better than a set of cover plates for your PS5? A set of cover plates with integrated fan grilles! So look: I was just touting the benefits of replacing the cover plates on your PS5. Third-party faceplates are easier to apply and remove, which makes for easier cleaning, which increases the lifespan of your console. You're not locked into a single color. I'll add that you have options, as once you have a second set of faceplates, you can decorate those and deface them in your own style while still having the pristine originals if you ever need to sell the unit. Is there anything that can improve on this in terms of quality of life, of operating efficiency, of cooling efficiency yet?? Cut out some fan grills, and yes! Because the first time I took the cover plates off my PS5 I was installing an SSD for extra storage and I noticed right away one glaring problem: The vents on the PS5 run around the face channel, yes? So then why are the fans grilled underneath the faceplates? Obviously this is because it forces the hot air out through the vents in the face channel, and said vents actually sit between the chassis and the cover plates. But if you don't remove the cover plates and remove any built up dust and particulates from time to time, your console will die a slow heat death and that's an expensive item to replace, especially years down the line. But the thing is, this maintenance is meant to allow heat to be removed from the system which is an airflow issue. So if junk builds up inside the unit and you're vacuuming around the outside, there's a nonzero (and I'd say statistically significant) chance that in extreme cases you're not getting it all out without removing the cover plates and getting at the fans directly. That's where these cover plates shine above the rest, and the design actually adds extra benefits. Not only can you clean the fans directly without removing the cover plates, but heat removal is easier, with more and wider paths for airflow. Also, as nylon bristles add a risk for static buildup, it's better to clean the fans with the plates on, as the finish of the plates prevents the transfer of static electricity to your console's sensitive components and so that helps prevent an early demise from static damage. Finally, if you have the unit mounted to the wall like I do, you don't have to remove it to clean it. So with all that practical stuff, you have an added benefit: I think the covers with fan grilles look cooler -- more futuristic, even -- than the originals. Given that these cost the same as covers with no cutouts, there's no reason not to have these. Five stars, recommend, end of story, and maybe I'm done or maybe there's something new around the corner. Short story is, if you love your Playstation, you'll stow away the OEM cover plates and put a set of these on like you're putting a screen protector on your phone. Only difference is, you don't drop your Playstation -- like, ever.

This is not bad for giving you better airflow on the bottom and top of the ps5 while allowing you to get that matte black ps look. I can say it actually does help with pushing air out of the system. The draw back is that it does allow for the fan to get dustier easier. It does however make it easy to spray out the fan with compressed air without needing to remove the panel. The color does look very similar to the ps3 and ps4 in terms of color. I will say about this is that the matte black color looks really nice and the rough material is rough like the slim ps3. Even with the vent cut out, the plate is pretty durable. The shell is not too scratch prone. It does come with instructions and it is pretty easy to install this on my ps5. The one thing I will say it does take a little bit of force to remove the old. You have to pop it at angle to push the panel off. Also make sure to do the same when installing this one but it fits perfectly. Once I had it installed, it felt pretty good and i had not had issues with it coming off. The clip part does feel a little flimsy on some parts but for the most part it was cut/molded well so it has no issues with the drive slot being used or anything like that. It feels just as durable as the original although the feel is a little different in terms of material. The plate has not warped or bent since on got this even if I stack something on top although I keep it open to allow proper air flow through the vents. The black finish fits perfectly with my ps3 and ps4 look. It was a pretty close match to the ps5 matte black controller in color. Overall this is a pretty nice plate replacement for the ps5 if you want that original matte black look as well as having a ventilation port on both sides for better airflow. Just note that you will have more dust accumulate but it is easy to blow out. It does not have the PlayStation logo on it which I would have loved to see but it works with the ps5 stand that comes with the digital console device. It does take a little bit of force to remove and to install. I would still be careful and make sure the clips are aligned as they are a bit flimsy on some points and you do not want to break them. The main shell itself is pretty durable and looks very close to the color and look to the ps4 and ps3.

I picked these replacement plates up for my daughter because she has always preferred the older black PlayStation consoles over the white PS5 design. Once these were installed, the matte black look honestly suited the console really well. What I did not realize when ordering them was that these plates also include cooling vents, which ended up being the biggest benefit for us. Her PS5 had started experiencing occasional overheating crashes, something that unfortunately becomes more common once the console starts running too hot over time. The vented design seems to help airflow significantly. Since installing these plates, we have not had any overheating crashes, which has been a huge relief. One feature I especially appreciate is that the vents allow easier access for cleaning the fans without fully removing the plates. The tradeoff is that dust can build up faster, so you do need to stay on top of cleaning the console more regularly. Installation was also much easier than dealing with the original PS5 plates. The factory panels can be frustrating to remove and reinstall, while these slide on and off with far less effort. The plates feel sturdy and fit the console well, and the matte finish looks great and reduces static. Overall, these ended up being both a cosmetic and practical upgrade for her PS5. At $29.99, I think they are an excellent value, especially given the improved ventilation and easier maintenance.

Fits perfectly! Super easy to install and my PlayStation is running cooler! Just carefully pull off the old sides and these simply snap on. Good quality plastic that’s going to last! I could always hear the fan trying to cool it off but not now. As soon as I installed these and started racing I noticed no fan noise. These give much better airflow than without! Good quality product and a good value.

Really happy with these replacement cover plates for the PS5 Digital Edition. Installation was quick and easy, and everything lined up perfectly with the console. The black finish gives the PS5 a much sleeker and cleaner look compared to the original white panels. One thing I actually noticed was the extra ventilation on the outside panels. It does seem to help improve air circulation around the console, especially during longer gaming sessions. The plates feel sturdy once installed and don’t feel cheap or flimsy.
