It takes a lot of getting used to using the 12 keys on the mouse instead of the number row on the keyboard, but it's definitely doable. However, if that's not your style, then you can also program the keys to be just about anything else you want. Including keys F13 through F24. The thing itself comes with three preset profiles saved to it. You can edit these, as well as make your own profiles, with the iCUE software that Corsair offers for free, sure it's one more thing that you have to use, but if you're getting this mouse you had to expect it'd need outside software to properly make all of the macros for the 12 thumb keys. Of course, you can edit every single button on the mouse to whatever you want it to with only one exception, when you don't have the iCUE software installed on whatever computer you're using it on you're stuck with whatever profiles you saved to the mouse itself, and for these hardware profiles certain buttons can't be altered. But, playing at home with the icue software and your profiles saved to your computer you have a much larger ability to customize the keys of the mouse. The mouse is enjoyably weighty, glides across pads with ease, and even has a "snipe" mode, which you can configure to whichever button on your mouse you want. Overall, the mouse is fantastic, it feels good on your hand, and, despite what you may initially think, it's actually really easy to pickup, as long as you're picking up and not pushing the buttons in while you do so you'll be fine. It's very easy to pick up using your thumb to just catch on the bottom row of buttons without pushing them in at all, they feel mechanical and don't just slip in or the like, you have to actually push them with your finger, which is always nice. The optical sensor works great, the colors are cutomizable, and, in case you were wondering, there is a way to tell what dpi you have it set to, the color of the section that's just in front of your thumb changes depending on the dpi, you can set these colors to whatever you want in iCUE and the manual that comes with the mouse tells you all of the defaults.

I've bought the elite version of this and the standard version of this and tbh, just get the cheaper one because they're the same. But I have purchased other mice that are in everybody top 5 or top 10 online and for some reason the crappy Razer Naga mouse series is always at the top of everybody's list of MMO mouses and I'm not sure why. The only other one that stands up to it is the G600 from Logitech and any other that are knockoffs that have the exact same design. The reason that this mouse is the best mouse of all MMO mouses is because of the grip on the side with the programmable buttons. The sliding adjustment is not really important as you will likely keep it in the original position from the factory which is all the way to the back. If you try any other design other than the G600 and, most favorably, this mouse design, then you will feel as if you cannot hold on to the mouse if you need to lift it off of the mousepad. With the Naga in particular you will try and pick it up and will have to be extra careful to not press all of the buttons on the side, much less just drop it entirely. It's because there is no indentation or curvature to the programmable button side of the mouse. However, this scimitar does have that curvature and also has textured buttons that help in grabbing the mouse when you need to lift up and adjust it. You may think that you won't need to lift up the mouse while surfing the web or playing a game but if you start paying attention, you will notice that you DEFINITELY do that and it is very important to have a ergonomic mouse - at least as far as palm grip mouse users are concerned. I have bought several to use at work and at home and 1 that quit working on me after a few years. ICUE SOFTWARE Yeah iCue software blows. It appears to cause issues like a virus on your PC. It makes your mouse move slow and laggy like you're being swarmed by a virus and if you have a profile saved to your mouse and iCue launches, it overrides your profile for some reason and you have to shut down iCue to make it work normally. Best thing to do is to install iCue just to set your dpi profiles and color code them if you want, like I do, and then uninstall the program after saving the profile to the mouse. This.Program.Sucks.Period.

Corsair released the Scimitar RGB mouse some time ago without much fanfare, competing directly with the Naga - Corsair came out swinging big however with a strong product that featured a patented slider key system to move the 12 button layout how you wanted which was a nice idea for such a large amount of buttons. They offered a 3988 sensor powered mouse that offered acceptable performance for multi-use purposes, a comfortable safe shape, with a readily accessible panel of buttons for macros or keybinds. The problem with the old mouse, that I had, however was three fold. The first major issue with the old Scimitar was the sensor performance. Regardless of what you set the lift-off distance too - it was still very high, and upon making lifting movements would cause wild changes in cursor position even at low CPI settings. This was my biggest, and loudest complaint with the 3988 powered mouse. The other two problems were less severe, but still problematic... and it was the buttons. The buttons had a specific ... mushy... feeling to them despite being mechanical switches, and the other major issue with the buttons was that despite where you might slide the side button panel, the keys sat far too low in the chassis, causing my thumb to rub up against the mouse mat whenever I would attempt to use 1,4,7, or 10 buttons on the mouse. Not a huge issue, but a minor annoyance. The third problem was easily fixable - and it was the CUE software. A beautifully designed piece of software, that was just unfortunately not intuitive to use, and buggy as all get out... I am happy to say TWO of those major issues have not only been resolved entirely, but improved greatly. The new Corsair Scimitar Pro packs Corsair's own iteration of the popular PMW-3360 sensor, which they have called the PMW-3367. Lift off distance issues have been entirely resolved, as well as much better performance on a variety of surfaces. I tested the Corsair Scimitar Pro on a QCK+ Heavy, Zowie GSR, PureTrak Talent, MMX300, and a GLORIOUS XXXL, and it performed great on all the surfaces - all which have very different material. The other major issue is CUE, I am happy to say it has definitely improved in both usability, and function - while they still have kinks to work out - they are making headway into creating a great software suite. Not much else to say on that front. Some features I would add include the ability to reset surface calibration, as at present - you are not able to. The clicks, the left and right, feel springy and have good tension. Not quite Logitech G303 / G900 / G Pro clicks - but definitely up there in quality. Side panel buttons are better - not quite where I'd like them to be in terms of feedback, but definitely getting better. I can't quite tell but I feel like they've been slightly more spaced apart to be more easily "findable" on the fly. These could still benefit from being raised up slightly, as they still sit a little low for my comfort, but again - this is a minor personal opinion. The shell material itself has changed as well... less rubbery, and more plastic, but I think this was done to address durability concerns, as the rubbery coating on my old Scimitar despite only being purchased in November has already begun to wear - I forsee the Pro's coating to be much better in terms of wear and tear. The weight is a little on the high side for FPS / MOBA players, but it is certainly not excessive. with a bit of cable coming in at 118 grams for me. I prefer my mice under 100 grams, however in this case - this mouse is specifically for MMO use for me - I have other mice for FPS / General Use - so if you're an mmo player looking for a top-quality sensor mouse that can be used in FPS or other games that won't put you at any sort of disadvantage, I can highly recommend this mouse. Some odd design choices for me include the strip of brushed aluminium at the bottom of the mouse that houses the sensor - while it looks nice and gives a premium feel - the aluminium provides a jumping off point for fibers to get caught on cloth pads. I have not seen this happen with the Pro iteration yet - but it most certainly did on the old Scimitar. To be clear, there are things Corsair could still do to bring this mouse up to another level - shaving some weight and raising the buttons up a bit would improve ergonomics greatly, without much change to the design - but overall we are looking at an iterative change that brings a lot to the table. It is most certainly an evolution of the design, and brings great performance to the table at a good price. All in all - I'd say if you're in the market for an MMO mouse that can be more than that - grab a Corsair Scimitar Pro. You won't be disappointed in your purchase.

I got this mouse with the K95 Platinum keyboard as a combo on black Friday for about half price. I traded my old Logitech 12 button mouse as Logitech decided to go with "cloud" services that control how your hardware works (or in my case disabled permanently) and is updated. Corsair makes tough products made of aircraft grade aluminum instead of vacuum formed plastic like all the other manufacturer's do. Once you get the hang of using their RPN software (iCUE), you can program all the buttons to do any function that you want, even text strings! It also has the ability to control the colors of the LED's in the mouses' keys, which I like because I can color the important ones differently based on what they do. Polling is quite fast a 1ms, and you can set the DPI to anything from 400 to 16,000. I prefer 8K as that means moving only my fingers rather than my whole arm and hand to move the cursor across the screen. It's also adjustable for various sized hands and fingers (except for mine which are very large, and long) and is set with the provided hex key. LED's are bright, but not annoyingly so. Configuration is easy once you figure out the RPN of the software, and it allows you the enter in as many commands as you wish up to 255 (8 bit perhaps?) which is more than enough even for the most rabid gamers. Buttons are textured, and curved so that they fall naturally to thumb, and fingers. Clicks are positive, and post immediately (aka no lag), and response is quick with the 1ms polling mentioned earlier. All in all, and excellent pointing device that makes playing games, and using productivity software a breeze. Lastly, Corsair doesn't use cloud base control over your hardware, like other manufacturers do, and they update both firmware and software on a frequent and regular basis. Unlike their competition, Corsair leaves the user in control of their hardware!

Bought as a replacement to my Razer Naga. The Naga was nice and all...but the laser sensor had contant freezing and jumping issues whenever the smallest piece of cat hair or dirt was on the mouse pad. It was TOO accurate for it's own good. I bought this mouse mainly for it's optical sensor, and it works perfectly. I also really like the hardware profiles, if you truly hate the CUE software you can just use it once to setup a hardware profile and then uninstall it. I use this mouse to play Guild Wars 2, Overwatch, and Heroes of the Storm and find it comfortable for all three of them. My only complaint is that the initial setup process for the 12 side buttons is rather click intensive (have to add a new action for every button, choose the key category from the drop down, and then choose the key), but after it's done it's quite easy to modify. The lighting is pretty awesome, you can customize the colors to basically anything. Enabling the advanced mode let's you make your own crazy fading / blinking / whatever colors choosing either solids or gradients between two colors so that it ends up smoothly transitioning. I personally have mine glow between purple and white with the keys turning purple out of phase with the rest of the mouse for a neat breathing like effect. It might take you a while to get your colors just right though :p

This mouse is great when it works, which is always. The software is horrible bloated garbage though, if you have any interest in a mouse that works all the time every time, DO NOT buy this. It will frequently start up and refuse to allow you to use your remapped buttons, so it defaults to the original setup, where NO buttons are mapped by default except LMB, RMB, scroll, and DPI. That's right, out of the box, you can't use any of the side buttons as 1-0 without downloading their software (500Mb install), and physically remapping every individual button. I included a picture of my 14 remaps just to make all the mouse buttons function like a normal mouse from literally any other seller, I had to do these all myself, mouse was unusable out of the box. So you can't actually use this mouse out of the box like any other mouse, you have to install their terrible software (once again 500Mb download) that will also install audio functions (for a mouse/keyboard!? WHY!) which will disable your audio till you switch inputs off and back on again (this also happens after every update for the software), it also features system monitoring in case you wanted it to suck up extra memory just to be able to use a mouse (200Mb of RAM used while service is idle), and once you do install the software, you'll probably need to restart your computer to have full functionality (you'll also need to do this with every software update usually.) I'm only writing this because this happens almost weekly and I'm tired of dealing with it because they want to presumably scoop your data and bog your system with this garbage when you just want to use your device. Buy literally anything else, the hardware isn't worth the software, I wholeheartedly regret this purchase, I'll stick to Logitech when this finely crafted mouse finally dies and I can burn the iCue software in the Recycle Bin where it so deservedly belongs.

I was using a Perdition mouse (which I still think is a great mouse) but I was noticing the angled buttons on the grid caused discomfort and my thumb started to develop a callus after prolonged intense gaming because of how quickly I seem to move my thumb. Also, it has a glossy finish that seemed to collect dirt. This mouse, those problems are gone, and there are additional benefits. It has a nice matte finish. The movable button grid is also excellent for my large hands and I find my thumb cramping less. The buttons are smooth to move over quickly, but there is a noticeable texture on the 4-6 and 10-12 rows to easily distinguish the buttons if you like that. The buttons have a good size and feel and the click feels good. Even the ring finger rest is comfortable and has a nice grip feel to it. I will say that the software is very annoying. It is pointlessly complicated and sometimes I have to unplug and plug in the mouse to get it to load the settings correctly, but at least it is not often and never has it lost settings randomly during use. I love the mouse enough that the annoyances with the software are not enough for me to lower the rating. I highly recommend this mouse, whether you are just getting into using a button grid mouse or you have been using them for a while.
