Exactly what I wanted.

It takes a lot of getting used to using the 12 keys on the mouse instead of the number row on the keyboard, but it's definitely doable. However, if that's not your style, then you can also program the keys to be just about anything else you want. Including keys F13 through F24. The thing itself comes with three preset profiles saved to it. You can edit these, as well as make your own profiles, with the iCUE software that Corsair offers for free, sure it's one more thing that you have to use, but if you're getting this mouse you had to expect it'd need outside software to properly make all of the macros for the 12 thumb keys. Of course, you can edit every single button on the mouse to whatever you want it to with only one exception, when you don't have the iCUE software installed on whatever computer you're using it on you're stuck with whatever profiles you saved to the mouse itself, and for these hardware profiles certain buttons can't be altered. But, playing at home with the icue software and your profiles saved to your computer you have a much larger ability to customize the keys of the mouse. The mouse is enjoyably weighty, glides across pads with ease, and even has a "snipe" mode, which you can configure to whichever button on your mouse you want. Overall, the mouse is fantastic, it feels good on your hand, and, despite what you may initially think, it's actually really easy to pickup, as long as you're picking up and not pushing the buttons in while you do so you'll be fine. It's very easy to pick up using your thumb to just catch on the bottom row of buttons without pushing them in at all, they feel mechanical and don't just slip in or the like, you have to actually push them with your finger, which is always nice. The optical sensor works great, the colors are cutomizable, and, in case you were wondering, there is a way to tell what dpi you have it set to, the color of the section that's just in front of your thumb changes depending on the dpi, you can set these colors to whatever you want in iCUE and the manual that comes with the mouse tells you all of the defaults. ... show more

great design, look, and feel!

this mouse is awesome for FPS gaming. i play planetside 2, battle field, and call of duty. works great! this is my first corsair mouse. i've used micrsoft mouse in the beginning then been a fan of logitech mouses. i came from using a logitech G700 and G602. both are wireless mouses. this isn't a flame on logitech because all wireless mouse would have this issue.. every few days i would have to swap out the rechargeable battery. i would always have to keep a fresh charged battery or i couldn't play. this cosair scimitar pro mouse has the looks, comfort, and tons of buttons for you to bind. the lights on the buttons, scroll wheel, head lights, and side lights look super cool. you can change each light independently and you can choose from a color pallet or choose the exact fade you want with a color bar. so the feature that stands out with this mouse is that the side buttons move up/down (respectively). so for your thumb you can move the buttons more up or middle or down to fit your comfort. i think that is a fantastic feature. the problem with any new mouse you have to train your hand to all button positions again. some times the side buttons are really out of reach and it would be nice if the set of buttons can move. well this mouse it allows you. the mouse is made for MMO but i use it for FPS and works great. the only thing i would like corsair is if you made a wireless version of this mouse. i had to break out the mouse bunge again. i haven't used a mouse bunge for like 8 years. i prefer wireless and none of corsair's wireless line worked for me. i'm happy with this mouse. great design, look, and feel. ... show more

I've tried all of the "Top 10" Mouses and This One is the Best

I've bought the elite version of this and the standard version of this and tbh, just get the cheaper one because they're the same. But I have purchased other mice that are in everybody top 5 or top 10 online and for some reason the crappy Razer Naga mouse series is always at the top of everybody's list of MMO mouses and I'm not sure why. The only other one that stands up to it is the G600 from Logitech and any other that are knockoffs that have the exact same design. The reason that this mouse is the best mouse of all MMO mouses is because of the grip on the side with the programmable buttons. The sliding adjustment is not really important as you will likely keep it in the original position from the factory which is all the way to the back. If you try any other design other than the G600 and, most favorably, this mouse design, then you will feel as if you cannot hold on to the mouse if you need to lift it off of the mousepad. With the Naga in particular you will try and pick it up and will have to be extra careful to not press all of the buttons on the side, much less just drop it entirely. It's because there is no indentation or curvature to the programmable button side of the mouse. However, this scimitar does have that curvature and also has textured buttons that help in grabbing the mouse when you need to lift up and adjust it. You may think that you won't need to lift up the mouse while surfing the web or playing a game but if you start paying attention, you will notice that you DEFINITELY do that and it is very important to have a ergonomic mouse - at least as far as palm grip mouse users are concerned. I have bought several to use at work and at home and 1 that quit working on me after a few years. ICUE SOFTWARE Yeah iCue software blows. It appears to cause issues like a virus on your PC. It makes your mouse move slow and laggy like you're being swarmed by a virus and if you have a profile saved to your mouse and iCue launches, it overrides your profile for some reason and you have to shut down iCue to make it work normally. Best thing to do is to install iCue just to set your dpi profiles and color code them if you want, like I do, and then uninstall the program after saving the profile to the mouse. Solid mouse but risky to invest in

I'm coming close to a year and a half of using this mouse now. Within a month of my initial purchase, the scroll wheel stopped working entirely, however I replaced it with the warranty and the process was super quick and smooth. Definitely one of the best return processes I've dealt with it, and had this not been the case I probably would've been tearing my hair out. Since I got my replacement, I haven't noticed any issues within the year+ of regular use both for casual scrolling and gaming. I have relatively small hands and the mouse fits perfectly and uses comfortably. The button bundle can be moved forwards or backwards depending on what's comfortable for you, a feature you probably won't tap into past your initial set up. The buttons themselves are solid, they have a combo of smooth and tactile patterns with small clicks for feedback. There are a lot of complaints about ICUE, the software that Corsair products use, but I've never had any issues with it personally. My main if only complaint on it is that for changing the binding of keys like the buttons under the scroll wheel or 12 button panel is a little tricky and annoying, definitely more difficult to navigate than Razer. I wouldn't say failing to be perfectly user friendly makes it unusable or worth downgrading the value of the mouse, though. All and all, I would say this is a pretty solid product but there is a chance you'll get unlucky, as the scroll wheel issue I had doesn't seem to be the only possible issue to run into. I do hope Corsair updates this model and fixes the main issues, since between the Razer Nagas and the Corsair Scimitar, I definitely prefer the Scimitar and MMO mouse options are pretty limited. If you're willing to risk it, the Scimitar is an overall solid choice and if something does happen, you can expect good customer support and a fast replacement. ... show more

A niche mouse, but it's great if that's what you're looking for

I originally picked one up for playing World of Warcraft (WoW). I bound the keys to the spell bar and it had a huge impact in my circumstance. The ability to cast spells with my right hand and reserve the left exclusively for movement felt way more natural and, after I grew accustomed to this setup, I felt like I just couldn't go back to playing the other way. I'm not playing WoW currently, but I still use this for other games, even if they're not MMO's or MOBA's. For example, I've been playing alot of Apex Legends and binding things like run, crouch, special, etc., are really useful to have bound to my mouse. Anything that allows me to keep my left hand further reserved for movement is a huge plus, in my book. Mostly, though, I love this mouse for general PC use. I have things bound to it like: cut/copy/paste, select all, back/forward, reload, open File Explorer, open Chrome, open Calculator, and volume up/down/mute. Once you get accustomed to using these keys, it can make your general PC use much more efficient. The iCUE software is very powerful and I very much like it as a method of controlling many aspects of my PC, from RGB to fan speed. The portion of iCUE relevant to this mouse is good, but I don't know if there's anything that really sets it apart from the controller software for other mouse options, like for the Logitech G600. But it's a pain to use multiple different software suites and, if you're going to buy into one, the Corsair iCUE ecosystem is great -- it's definitely a strong pro for this mouse if you own other Corsair gear. I've been using this mouse at home and in my office for a while now and it's held up pretty well. There's no noticeable wear to the finish and all the buttons still feel the same. I like that this mouse has an adjustable keypad, so you can optimize its location for your thumb. Keep in mind this mouse is quite heavy. I like a heavy mouse and it fits my hand well, although I have somewhat small hands so that may be a factor. Great mouse for MMOs and beyond

Pros: There is a lot to say here its a great mouse with a ton of features. The side buttons are easy to use and being able to move them around is great as not all people have the same size hands(i have larger hands so i moved them forward). Its got great tracking and is useful in all types/genres of games. I play just about everything under the sun from CSGO to FFXIV and I really bought this with MMO's in mind and its wonderful add on for those and good at the other stuff too. The Corsair utility initially was crap but that seems to have been ironed out by getting rid of the bad Strafe keyboard that i purchased along with this and it seems to have calmed down now. Also not a problem but an interesting side effect that others have mentioned is that when the mouse comes awake after a time out or sleep its a bit jiggy when first moved but then the tracking finds itself and its fine. Its not a long period of time like a couple of seconds or so. Its worth mentioning but in no way effects anything its more of an idiosyncrasy. The only thing and its a nit pick really is I would kill for a forward and backward button(s) for browsing again but its just a observation really. Excellent functionality but prone to breaking and other annoyances.

I adore the mouse and it's functionality. But I've gone through 2 of these in about 2 years now. The most important problems is the mousewheel button. I don't know what exactly is going on with the parts here, but the mousewheel has broken on both of these I've tried after only a few months. And I wouldn't call myself and extremely hard button presser. I've never had mouses where the wheel button just breaks before and these have broken both times. You can work around this by rebinding mouse wheel click to one of the side buttons but you shouldn't need to do this. Also the iCUE software is kind of a pain. Like it's intuitive enough to get what you want with the rebinds and lighting effects but with both this and the Corsair K95 I've been using they'll sometimes just completely stop rebinding your keys. You'll try updating iCUE and see if that is what's confusing the software and it won't work. You'll try restarting iCUE and see if that works. You'll try restarting your computer and maybe that works. And if that doesn't you'll go to bed frustrated, wake up and suddenly it's working after everything else didn't work. I can definitely ruin a night of gaming. Which is a damn shame because if it wasn't for those problems I think this would be a 10/10 mouse. The side buttons feel great, intuitive, and the different feel for the even numbered buttons and odd numbered buttons means it's pretty easy to get the hang of navigating all 12 buttons if you decide to use them, which I do as I usually play MMORPG's which can get pretty wild in terms of how many keybinds they can demand from you. It has a nice comfortable shape, good weight, the thing feels as fast and responsive as I could want. Good cable length, aside from the mousewheel the rest of the thing has been pretty durable and handed some serious tumbled off my desk without cracking the shell of the mouse or anything. Just a dang shame about that mousewheel because I can live with iCUE being annoying but that really hurt what would otherwise be a basically flawless mouse in my opinion. ... show more

This is easily one of the best nice I've ever owned. I was perfectly happy with my Logitech G502 until I got into MMOs and needed more buttons to cast more abilities. My G502 is still in use as my work mouse, so it's there if this one ever goes out on me. Pros 1. Good clicks. Side bottoms have a good feel and I definitely know that I clicked something. 2. Longer and fatter than the G502, I can fit my whole hand on it without issues. 3. Super smooth and satisfying scroll wheel. 4. Multiple profiles in iCue and the profile switcher button let me switch from one game setup to another quickly. 5. Nice lighting. 6. Nice, braided cable with a good length for both desktop and laptop use. 7. The adjustable number pad on the side is a nice touch. 8. Good weight, which is good cuz it's not really adjustable. 9. Adjustable DPI, which I love. 10. Hardware lighting and action profiles so I can use it without running iCue. Neutral 1. I'm a long time iCue user so I don't consider it bad, but I understand that inexperienced people may have some trouble with the learning curve. Cons 1. Out of the box, the buttons on the side seem to do random things. Not sure why the buttons aren't natively mapped to 1-0 and the two symbols along the number row on a keyboard. Overall, I'm happy with this purchase. I got a great price for it on prime day and it's made my FFXIV experience so much better (once I got used to it). I see some people have a double click issue, though, so I am concerned about long term durability. ... show more
