Top Amazon Reviews

🚀 Abunda's Overview

This is our summary and key points to consider based on customer reviews.

The Corsair RM850x fully modular power supply unit (PSU) has been praised for its excellent efficiency and silent operation, with notable features including an impressive low-noise fan, exceptional power delivery, and a great build quality. One unique factor to consider, however, is the design of its shift model, specifically suited for side-mounted PSU slots; this may not be compatible with some cases and can present wiring and heat dissipation challenges.

Pros

  • 👍 High-quality build, solid, and durable
  • 🌟 Excellent power efficiency and power delivery
  • 🔇 Very quiet operation, with Zero RPM fan mode
  • ⚙️ Great modularity allowing for easy cable management

Cons

  • ⚠️ May not fit into smaller PC cases because of its size
  • 🔄 In the Shift model, side out connector may not be intuitive for some setups
  • 💼 The Shift model might cause some spacing issues in narrower cases
  • ⚡ Potential heat dissipation challenges due to wiring placement (again in Shift model)

Should I Buy It?

If you're seeking a high-quality, highly efficient PSU that offers seamless and quiet operation, the Corsair RM850x undoubtedly fits the bill. However, be mindful of whether the fully modular design suits your particular PC case and setup. If you're considering the Shift model, ensure that it fits with the space and wiring layout of your case. Overall, this PSU is certainly a worthwhile investment for tech-savvy users and gamers.

  • Top-tier internal components, Platinum-certified, Stable
Style: RMx (2024) - ATX 3.1 Size: 1000W
Excellent power supply. I previously had a 2017 RM850x with very thick cables that were a nightmare to manage. Now, 9 years later, I’ve upgraded to this RM1000x, which has very flexible and easy-to-route cables. Surprisingly, I received a Platinum-certified unit instead of the Gold one! This PSU stands out for its top-tier internal components (excellent element base). It’s dead silent, runs stably, and shows no voltage drops. The only downside is that it only comes with 2 cable combs ... show more

  • With great power comes great peformance
Style: RMx (2024) - ATX 3.1 Size: 1000W
It's a great power supply. Modular and not too big of a unit. I'm using to to power an Intel 14900K CPU and Geforce RTX 5080 GPU. It also powers a handful of peripherals. It does the job with plenty of power to spare. I especially appreciate the native 16pin GPU connector. Don't hesitate and just buy it. You won't regret it. ... show more

  • Nice cables and low noise
Style: RMx (2024) - ATX 3.1 Size: 1000W
Only owned this power supply for about 3 days but I really like it. its quiet and I really like the cables. I also own the 750watt version and the cables seem way cheaper and harder to work with. while this unit has each wire sleeved individually the whole cable is sleeved in the 750 watt version making it hard to bend and do any wire management. i mostly got this powersupply because i bought a used 3080 that needs 3 pcie for its power and my motherboard also requires 3 aswell. 2 for the cpu and one for the board itself. this is a very good power supply if your kind of still wanting to use your old pc parts with a new power hungry motherboard/cpu while also still has a new 12V-2x6 port/cable. very happy. if the power supply fails or something else ill do a edit and update this review. ... show more

  • Good PSU for the price and reliable
Style: RMx (2024) - ATX 3.1 Size: 1000W

  • Great PSU
Style: RMx (2024) - ATX 3.1 Size: 1000W
Had to RMA a Seasonic Focus PSU because I now know that it couldn't handle the transient spikes of my 9070xt. Frequent driver crashes, resets. Thought it was my GPU. Decided to go back to Corsair as my previous PSU from this brand never failed me and I couldn't be happier. Any issue I previously had has completely disappeared with the 2024 model of the RM1000x. Really appreciate the 4 PCIe cables, as I already needed one for the iCue link hub and it still leaves room for a future upgrade. ... show more

  • 6+2 pin daisy chained PCIE cables... why?
Style: RMx (2021) Size: 1000W
Got this PSU cause I knew it 1. had more than enough power needed for my new build and 2. the case it went into was designed by corsair, and was able to check clearance on everything. I didn't go with the Shift version of the PSU for the simple reason that although it's unique, I see a lot of people complaining about its practicality. So, I went with the 2021 version of the RM1000x. The pros are basic. Strong but also stiff cables with protection in the proper places. Very easy overall install & modularity we've came to be familiar with when it comes to modern PSU's. Quiet operation, & plenty of peace of mind knowing I have plenty of power for my build (6950xt + 13600k). CONS.... This is the biggest con thus far, and I will complain about it until the end of time. Not that it's ever been okay practice, but having your PCIE cables all have a pigtailed additional 6 pin is just miserable to deal with. My GPU requires two 8 pins & one 6 pin... that's three separate cables with three separate & dangling 6 pin pigtails that'll never be used. I can understand giving only 6+2's even though it should be practice at this point to have some full 8 pin's, but I'll never understand a 6+2's with pigtailed 6 pins on a 1000W unit..... JUST NO. Please, if you're reading this and considering this PSU, please keep in mind to use a separate PCIE 6+2 cable for each connection on the card, AND DO NOT USE THE PIGTAILED 6 PIN THAT'S ATTACHED TO THEM. For lower power cards back in the day this wasn't a huge deal but was still bad practice to daisy chain your PCIE connections like that. Nowadays, with the power these cards are capable of drawing, there's NO REASON a 1000w PSU would even give you the option to daisy chain. A pretty big & detrimental (in my opinion) overlook on Corsair's part. Luckily you can use a cable tie or strap & just bunch them all together but... no one that has built a pc will tell you it looks good. other than that one major annoyance that I deem to be a con, great power supply. ... show more
