So I purchased the original kit which includes the lighting node pro and the 4 RGB strips. Corsair products are great, the install of the node and the strips is simple. The strips have a black PCB which makes them blend in nice with the black case. Also the strips have magnets built into them along with a adhesive strip once you are ready for a permanent mount. This is nice because you can test mounting locations out before you choose to mount them with the adhesive. The brightness is great and the level of customization on ICUE is endless. Now I chose to purchase the expansion pack because I wanted a few more strips to mount outside the case on my desk that I could control with ICUE and have them be part of the RGB setup. When I got the expansion in the mail I was suspicious right away due to the fact that both of the factory adhesive circles which seal the box shut were cut as you can see in the photo. The top of the box was also ripped where the plastic mount comes through for retail display. This and the seal being cut were clear indications someone had already opened it. Amazon had also taken one of their UPC code stickers and used it to keep the flap shut where the seal was cut (this indicated to me it was likely returned and they restocked it). When I opened the box there was no extension cables inside. When I went to test the strips, 3 out of 4 of them did not function at all, and 1 barely worked. I tested them multiple ways and they wouldn't function. The 1 that did "work" only had 1 LED module that would light up green and another that sort of dimly lit up blue. It would not change to any other colors. It was clear to me that this item was clearly defective and likely that someone had returned it in the past and Amazon chose to restock it. So shame on Amazon for that. I'm waiting for a replacement, hopefully the next one functions properly, is unopened, and has all the parts. Other than that this is a great product. Although its a little pricey for a few strips of RGB, Corsair hasn't let me down yet. ... show more

When I ordered this product originally, it was damaged, you wouldn't notice because it wasn't a physical issue however when I put it into my system, half the sockets did not work/no electrical flow. I thought maybe it was a fan issue because I had JUST ordered this product, luckily I had another commander to use as a control to see if it was the fans or the newer commander I ordered, it turned out all the fans worked with mine but the newer one, only half the sockets worked so I determined the product was damaged at that point maybe somewhere internally. I called Amazon support, spoke to someone who was able to send me a replacement and for me to turn in the damaged product at a local FedEx for a free return with no charge to me. Sadly when I went to FedEx to have this resolved they informed me that Amazon had been lying to its clients lately and there was still a charge/fee for shipping the item back to them although it was not a fault of mine and the vendor sent me a damaged product. This was a disappointing experience, I payed the fee since I was already there and no further issues with replacement however it still left a sour taste in my mouth that I was misinformed by amazon support so I took off x1 star for that, the new product is working as intended, no issues so far. ... show more

Corsairs ICUE commander core XT is a must for Corsair systems with an abundance of fans. It comes with 6 PWM connectors and 6 Corsair RGB connectors. These allow you to control not only RGB, but the fan speed as well in Corsair’s ICUE software. There is also USB 9 pin header connection so you are not wasting a USB header connection from your motherboard . I highly recommend this product if you are an enthusiast with lots of Corsair fans in your system . ... show more

Did a case, CPU cooler, and fan upgrade. I really wanted some of the case fans to be governed by the GPU temperature which was not possible with MB fan control. The Commander XT is much nicer than the Commander pro. The PWM fan and ARGB plug directly into this unit, unlike the pro that needs a separate breakout for the ARGB. On that note, the Corsair ARGB is only proprietary in the form of a physical connection. You can get an adapter cable to convert it to the open ARGB standard both for the 3-pin Corsair strip/hydoX connector and the 4-pin Corsair ARGB fan connectors. Just know if you use a 4-pin adapter you will need to connect a fan that has the same number of LEDs as one of the fans in the Corsairs lineup such as 12 LEDs for the HD series of fans. I personally have a 180mm ARGB fan from Fractal Design connected that has 12 LEDs and it works perfectly. I also like that the Commander has a magnetic base to attach to the inside of a case, not just sticky pads which it also has included. I have it in place if a 2.5 drive behind the MB tray. Though on that note wish there was an official 2.5 mount for it even as an optional accessory. I personally have not used them but if I ever go full custom loop it will be super nice to have the thermal sensors (included) for water temp and the like. The controller works brilliantly, except for one small thing. If iCue happens to crash (which it does from time to time depending on the other Corsair gear you have) the fan control goes with it. I personally got around this by making a scheduled task in Windows and had it trigger on the crash event logged in the event viewer after 30 seconds. This is why I gave it 4 out of 5 stars. But this is mostly a software issue not a problem with the controller itself. Aside from the software issue, I think my only complaint is that I wish the USB cable was detachable and that the passthrough USB was on the commander itself and not just a pigtail. ... show more

Used this because I didn’t like the asus fan control software. Initially had a little trouble getting my mobo to pick it up, but after a clean instal of iCue, everything went wonderfully. Only complaint is the GPU temps seem to be incorrect in iCUE. It’ll show temps in the 80’s but when I check precision x1 software it’ll all be in the 55-60 range. ... show more
