  • Low profile switch, hell yes!
Style: Low Profile Size: Keyboard Color: RGB
Went from K70 w/ browns to K65 w/ reds to this over the past few years. I am not going to write a detailed review about the K70 in general, RGB, Mk2 changes, etc. or about minor nitpicks, since those are covered in detail all over the internet, i am just going to quickly focus on the low profile factor and the new switch. 1) The low profile of the keyboard is much more natural and comfortable to me compared to full height. Best way to describe it is something closer to a traditional membrane keyboard positioning, but not quite exactly like it, something in between. Disagree that it has a laptop feel, as i've seen others describe it, nothing remotely like this. It's not for people who want that typical "typewriter" feel from their mechanical keyboards. 2) The switch is a perfectly normal, highly responsive, low travel linear switch. Smooth without the tiring for me rubberbandy bounceback feedback of the reds. I've seen people describe it as super sensitive, like you sneeze on it and it types a dozen characters, this is not the case imo. Light typists would very much appreciate its responsiveness. Didn't have any adjustment period myself, it felt normal from the get go. The shorter travel is a major and very pleasant change for me, it met my expectations and then some. It *is* both faster and less tiring to type on this than my previous keyboard (K65 w/ reds), a significant improvement which fully justified the purchase for me. 3) It's really quiet compared to standard stock reds which is welcome (not that i had a particular problem with the sound of reds). Doubt that there is a need for o-rings for 98% of people or a silent switch version for this. Even the spacebar (normally louder than other keys) doesn't come close to qualifying as "loud" or annoying for me. Regarding low profile vs full height (or linear vs tactile), this is all a matter of personal preference, but i personally feel that i've finally found the right balance for typing/gaming, a keyboard and a switch which is highly responsive, fairly quiet and very comfortable for extended periods of time use. I like that i don't have to deal with this whole lotta switch thing and all that unnecessary long key travel anymore. It feels easier, faster and an improvement. Other people may prefer different and i am glad that Corsair offers all these new choices for us particular and choosy customers. ... show more

  • [K70 RGB MK.2 RAPIDFIRE Low Profile] Excellent mechanical keyboard for a work environment
Style: Low Profile Size: Keyboard Color: RGB
I purchased this to replace my work keyboard. I also have the K95 that I use at home and wanted to stick with something similar. As soon as I saw this go on sale I knew I had to try it. With a lower actuation point than the K95 and physically slimmer keys, the noise reduction would help make it appropriate to use for the office compared to my K95 that I would never consider without trying O-rings first. Anyway, I now use it in the office and find that I now really enjoy typing while at work compared to before. It is definitely quiet enough to use in the office. The keys provide enough of a feedback to let you know that the key was pressed compared to my last work keyboard that did not have any feedback. My only complaint is that some of the keys do seem a little squeaky when pressed. More of a sharp sound when they're being pushed. It's more noticeable for me on some of the bigger keys. I hope that when they break in more the noise may go away. Overall though this noise is still so much quieter than other keyboards, just louder than the quietest keys on the keyboard. ... show more

  • Software sucks
Style: Low Profile Size: Keyboard Color: RGB
I went with this keyboard despite the rest of my setup being Razer because I really liked the design and I could not find a Razer keyboard that was low profile. Pros: - Looks great - Seeing them side by side I think the RGB lighting on this product looks better than Razer - Volume control button on keyboard is convenient Cons: - The "low profile" keys feel exactly the same to me as a regular keyboard. Nowhere near as low as laptop keys. - Types very loudly - My biggest complaint is the iCue program performs very poorly despite software being up to date. I use the button on the keyboard to turn off the lighting during the day, and most of the time iCue bugs out and I can't turn off the lighting. It only cycles through the different brightness settings, but never off entirely, requiring me to restart my computer for the off setting to work again. - Again, software related, sometimes iCue does not recognize the keyboard at all when it is plugged in so my custom RGB settings are lost until I restart the computer. I really wanted to like this keyboard because none of the Razer models appealed to me. It was worth keeping despite not being able to sync RGB with my Razer set, but with iCue being as unreliable as it is, I am now regretting my purchase. **UPDATE 7-24-20: iCue problems persist and now after a recent Windows update, it doesn't even recognize my keyboard and crashes within seconds. Gave it time thinking maybe Corsair just needs to optimize iCue for the latest Windows, and almost two weeks later still no solution. Unable to run this program, I can't customize RGB and am stuck with the ugly default rainbow spectrum. I tried everything - reinstalled COMPLETELY several times, following Corsair's instructions, made sure all drivers are up to date, switched USB ports, disabled anti-virus, even did a factory reset of my PC and iCue still has issues even with a clean re-install of Windows and no other out-of-the-box programs. Meanwhile ALL of my Razer accessories (headset, mouse, speakers, mousepad) worked fine the entire time both pre and post factory reset. iCue is an absolute garbage program. Until Corsair gets their act together, will continue to stick with Razer and Logitech G. ... show more
