  • Entry Level Gamer, Better Than Average All-Rounder
Size: With Palmrest
Let's get the only real negative thing I have to say about the keyboard out of the way up-front: Save yourself a tenner and buy the option without the palm rest if you're interested in this pup. For starters, it is not 'soft touch' as advertised. There's no padding on whatsoever on the palm rest, but that isn't its biggest problem. Instead of making it a smooth piece of plastic, for some unknown reason Corsair decided to put a diamond-tufted pattern on the thing, which gives it the general comfort level of coarse-grained sandpaper. Truly, this is the single most un-ergonomic palm rest I've ever had the displeasure of using, and my computing history goes all the way back to 1977. That aside, the good more than compensates for the bad, and there's really a lot to like here. With its quick-action mechanical keys, the K70 is more than adequate for all but the most hard-core gamer. However, unlike some mechanical keyboards, the key action is as smooth as silk and most of all QUIET, making it great for work. Additionally, it has a standard keyboard layout and number pad, which is a must-have for anyone with a day job. The K70's diminutive footprint will free-up space on your desk, and unlike some keyboards I've had in the past, its media knob is actually quite useful and doesn't seem like a tacked-on afterthought. Overall build quality is more than acceptable for the price, in my opinion. The aluminum top plate is strong and substantial, yet thin enough to not add unnecessary weight and bulk. LED lighting is what I'd call the 'low end of the high end,' meaning you'll find better out there, but you'll also pay more for it. Be aware that the K70 has no USB pass-through, and connectivity is hard-wired on the keyboard end. While I consider these downsides from a gaming perspective, in no way do they diminish the overall quality of the product. I point these out so you'll be aware of them if such limitations are a deal-breaker for you. In sum, I'd call the Corsair K70 the keyboard equivalent of a cross-trainer. A thoroughly up-to-task typing keyboard and a more than adequate gaming keyboard. The best of neither, but certainly better than average for both. ... show more

  • comfortable to type on & great build quality
Size: Without Palmrest
The build of this Corsair keyboard is very solid, and it's very comfortable to type on this K70 Core model. I'm pretty used to loud & clicky mechanical keyboards, so it was good to see something quieter. You can still very much hear each key as you press (and there's a nice level of resistance), but this is not a loud keyboard. The only downside is that Corsair did not include a user's guide at all! Sure, there's a warranty guide and a safety info guide, but nothing for a newbie who might want to know how to setup the iCue program, that allows you to customize many default settings (like the RGB light pattern for example). I had to go to Corsair's website, and see that a useful "Quick Start Guide" is actually available there. ... show more

  • Overall Great Keyboard But Know What You're Getting
Size: With Palmrest
I really do like this keyboard, but it isn't perfect. With that being said, I'll break this review down into pros and cons: Pros: -Solid build and comfortable to type on. -Quieter than many mechanical keyboards, but still tactile. -Sleek design with a matte black finish that resists fingerprints. -Quality aluminum back plate. -Comfortable magnetic wrist rest, easy to detach or attach. -Inclined design with adjustable feet for comfortable typing. -Keycaps are comfortable. -Weight ensures stability while typing. -Comes with pre-lubricated Corsair red switches for smoothness. -Spacebar has dampening foam to soften feel and sound. -Software allows easy customization of RGB lighting and macros. -Responsive during gaming sessions (WoW heroic raiding and Mythic+ at level 16 or higher is what I have been using it for). -Bright and consistent keyboard lighting. Cons: -No included user guide for setup, though available online. -Wrist rest isn’t as soft as its name suggests and not as comfortable as I'd prefer. -Keycaps are made of ABS plastic. Overall, it is a very good product and I would highly recommend. Just realize the "cons" before buying so the purchase will definitely meet your expectations. ... show more

  • Nice MLX Red Mechanical Keyboard
Size: Without Palmrest
First things first, install the Corsair iCUE software to properly manage your new keyboard. When I first got the keyboard plugged in and the iCUE software installed, I got a notice that a firmware update was available which I ran. Once it was update, the LEDs were all off and I was worried it messed things up. However, loading up iCUE there was a tutorial which walks you through a lot of the customization, which included getting the LEDs back up and running and how to customization. There is a lot of configuration you can do to make it look and react just the way you want. Spend some time playing around with the options If you're not aware, there are quite a few styles of Keyswitches for mechanical keyboards due to the personal preference. These are soft, and quite, but have a nice tactile feel which I prefer. More important, it's quiet, not a lot of clickety-clackety. The build quality feels nice and it has a good heft to it. If I needed to complain about anything, it's that it's relatively thick, and without a wrist protector, it could cause some discomfort. I'll need to find a pad or something for my wrists. ... show more
