  • Provided software makes the hardware nearly useless
Size: Mouse Style: Qi Charging
I got the mouse+charging mouse pad set, and it was nothing like what was described, or like what I expected. Maybe I was just spoiled from having used Logitech's programmable mice, but even the basics of the iCUE software that's used with this mouse are terrible. The "charging pad" is also less useful than an off-the-shelf Qi charger would be (which the mouse is also completely compatible with). The mouse has a Qi charger built into it, so you don't need to plug it in to charge it. As all user reports on the Corsair forums have shown, this is very important since the mouse has a useable battery life of ~4 hours while in Power Save mode. Also, like those incredibly cheap budget mice, this "high end" gaming mouse will go to sleep after a programmable amount of inactivity, and require you to click to wake it back up. When you do go to charge it, there's a small circle in the upper right side of the very large mouse pad that is the only location in which the mouse will charge. You have to line the bottom of the mouse up with that, and wait for some lights to respond to ensure it's lined up properly. Based on location of the matching points, this puts the top of your mouse off the top edge of the mouse pad. Also, this can't be done if your computer is off. Even though the mouse pad uses an independent USB cable for the power, and even if your computer allows charging when off or asleep, the mouse pad will not allow anything to use the Qi charger if its unable to communicate with the iCUE software you have to install. Tons of complaints on the Corsair forums also detail the numerous problems with the mouse itself. You can configure profiles in the iCUE software, and you used to be able to store some of them in the mouse itself. Being able to do this meant you didn't need to have the iCUE software running for the configuration settings, like DPI and lighting effects, to be used. Despite the claims from Corsair itself, this is no longer an option with the new versions of iCUE. It was removed without even being noted in their release Changelog. Without the profiles stored in the mouse itself, all settings revert to some poor defaults when the mouse goes to sleep, the computer reboots, or you start charging the mouse. The iCUE software itself is also very problematic and poorly designed. It's not obvious when you first open it how to even configure the mouse settings. Once you figure out how to modify a profile for the specific device, re-assigning buttons is done thru the "actions" menu, which defaults to allowing you to create macros. This is confusing since assigning macros to buttons has always been a special case of button reassignment, and no indication is ever given that the "actions" have anything to do with button assignment on the mouse until you're mostly done with re-assignment. The iCUE software is also exceedingly buggy. It will suddenly start injecting key presses, even though there's no keyboard even associated with the software. In my case it just started repeating the key "2" as fast as it could with no warning, even when the mouse was disconnected. As soon as iCUE was force quit, the key stopped showing up. iCUE also uses an absurd number of system resources. There are some reports on the forums of more than 300MB used by iCUE when it's idle. For reference, that's how much Firefox or Chrome will use when dozens of tabs are open. For simplicity, here's a breakdown of most standard Logitech programmable mice versus this Coursair Dark Core SE RGB. As a baseline I compare the roughly equivalent Logitech G602, which is the same price as just the mouse itself. Battery Life: Corsair Dark Core = ~4 hours with RGB colors disable, in Power Save mode Logitech G602 = ~6 months, in Standard Mode (not in power save mode) Sleep time: Corsair Dark Core = Configurable, recommended 10-15 minutes, requires button click to wake up Logitech G602 = N/A, automatic sleep with user-transparent wake up. No button clicks ever required for wake up. Button Configuration: Corsair Dark Core = Poorly implemented, no onboard storage (despite claims), settings lost easily. Supports near-infinite profiles since all are stored on computer. Supports game-specific profiles. Logitech G602 = Very easy and obvious to set, always stored on device, supports 5 profiles on the device. Supports computer-driven game-specific profiles if separately enabled. Charging/Recharge: Corsair Dark Core = ~15 minutes to fully recharge via mouse pad Qi charger. All charging activities put the mouse to sleep first (loses all settings). Logitech G602 = N/A, uses 2 AA batteries. ... show more

  • Buy M65 instead
Size: Mouse Style: Standard Charging
I personally own several different corsair products and this one does not seem to match the quality of product i have come to expect from them. I already own the M65 and was looking for a wireless replacement since i shared that mouse for work and personal use. My first complaint about the mouse is that using corsairs own utility you cannot get the RGB to sync up with their other products like you can with the M65 mouse. This is a huge downfall since i have the RGB mouse pad and RGB keyboard. Using the included dongle to use the 2.4GHz connection to truly be wireless is actually disappointing. i find the mouse every once in a while jump across the screen for no reason. If i was using this for gaming this would be completely unacceptable. The Bluetooth connection does not carry your profiles. This means no macros, no DPI changes, no RGB customizations. While the wired works fine, if i was going to always keep it wired i would have just bought another M65 which i do strongly recommend to anyone who is serious about using this mouse for gaming. To be honest this product has left me feeling really disappointed with my purchase, while i still recommend every other one of corsairs products that i own i can not recommend this product until corsair fixes these issues. ... show more

  • Love the mouse design, but it just doesn't work consistently
Size: Mouse Style: Qi Charging
I actually bought 2 of these mice, one for work, and one for home (got tired of using different peripherals and having to constantly adjust) and I love the design and feel of the mouse. That being said, I keep putting up with issues just because I like the look and feel of the mouse. I have already exchanged the one I use for work because the cursor would jump all over the place (even wired). The replacement still has some issues with the cursor jumping in wireless mode which is annoying but I deal with it. All of the forums say that this is an interference issue and it doesn't do it while wired, so I assume that's correct. However, none of the other mice I've used in the same environment ever had the same issue. My mouse at home tracks much better, but still has the common issue of the cursor randomly jumping to the top left corner of the screen. Once again, I put up with it... but it is awful when it happens while gaming. The other issue I'm having is the mouse now keeps disconnecting and I'm constantly having to turn off / on the mouse to get it to reconnect. I've tried plugging the receiver into various USB ports, including the passthru port on my K95 which is 12 inches away from the mouse, but still no luck. I'm outside of my Amazon return window so I guess I need to go through Corsair now. If you're considering this mouse, do some research and look into all the common issues. At the time of this post, many people are having issues and it doesn't seem like Corsair wants to / knows how to fix these issues. If you want to use this mouse wired the majority of the time, it's great and I'd give it a full 5 stars. But for whatever reason, Corsair can't achieve the wireless quality a $10 mouse will give you. ... show more
