Description

One of the original models in Cordoba’s Luthier series, the Cordoba C10 is built with the choice of a solid Canadian cedar top or solid European spruce top with solid Indian rosewood back and sides. The C10 features a fan bracing pattern, which gives the center of the soundboard more surface area to vibrate and respond to the tension of the strings. A more responsive soundboard makes the guitar louder, and provides better tone. The C10 is the perfect choice for the serious classical guitarist, or for any player looking to upgrade to a concert-level instrument at an affordable price. Like every guitar in the Luthier series, the C10 is built with Spanish heel construction, where the top of the guitar is attached to the neck, the sides are added next, and the guitar’s body is sealed by the installation of the back. This construction feature allows the entire instrument to vibrate as one unified piece. The C10 has the neck shape and flat fingerboard characteristic of traditional classical guitars, and includes the added benefit of a two-way truss rod built into the neck. Cordoba recently expanded upon the C10, offering two new options that appeal to guitarists from all backgrounds: the C10 Parlor, which has a 7/8 size body shape and 50mm nut width, and the C10 Crossover, which is a full size guitar with a slim neck profile, radiused fingerboard, and 48mm nut width. Aesthetic touches like the mother-of-pearl weave rosette inspired by a 1920’s Domingo Esteso guitar add a touch of vintage elegance to this best-seller. Other premium features include an ebony fingerboard, rosewood bridge, high gloss finish, and Savarez Cristal Corum strings. The C10 includes Cordoba’s lightweight polyfoam case.

I recently purchased the Cordoba C10 spruce from Amazon. I was looking for an inexpensive spruce guitar to replace some expensive handmade guitars I sold. Originally I was looking at the C7 but I really wanted an ebony fingerboard. I tried a cedar C7 at the local GC and it was nice but they did not have it in spruce. As far as the C10 I couldn't be more thrilled. I bought it without trying it knowing I could return it to Amazon if I didn't like it. The guitar is very well made, comfortable to play and sounds great. Everything about it is just right. Usually on a new guitar I would change the strings and adjust the action. No need here everything is perfect. I'm afraid to change the strings because it sounds so good! I'm really enjoying the guitar, like I said the sound and playability are just great. I might have to buy a cedar also, I'm sure they are nice too! The only things holding the guitar back from looking like a very expensive instrument is the wood selection. I know it is very difficult and expensive to get perfect spruce (much more so than cedar)but the top does not look bookmatched. One side is a little darker than the other. You can only notice it at certain angles. Also the neck looks slab cut with a big swirl in the grain. As a side note the fingerboard also has dots at the 5,7 & 9th fret. This is a personal thing but I love having one at the 7th, 5th is ok but the 9th confuses me. I marked them out with a sharpie. Overall I can't think of a better guitar near this price range. The folks at Cordoba have really done their homework. Now the average Joe can play a quality guitar at a very reasonable price. ... show more

I had been playing classical guitar for two years when I purchased this guitar. I was looking to upgrade from my beginner Yamaha to an intermediate instrument. I also wanted solid spruce and rosewood with inlaid mother of pearl. In this price range, the Cordoba C10 is the only one that meets my criteria. It comes with a hard-sided nylon case so that's an added benefit, but it is not an air-tight case. The wood has beautiful grains and is highly polished. I have been playing it for 10 months now and thoroughly enjoy it. I actually found it easier to play than my beginner Yamaha. The spruce helps project a clear sound. Sometimes, I strum with a nylon pick, and it projects even better so a pick-up and amp wouldn't be needed. If you prefer a more mellow sound, the cedar version of this guitar might be a better choice for you. However, I was disappointed that I had to pay for a guitar technician to set it up and file down the frets. The frets were too wide and extended beyond the edge of the neck. As a result, you can actually feel the sharp edges along the neck. The technician told me that the guitar was very dry, which caused the wood of the neck to shrink and the frets to protrude. The guitar was shipped from Arizona so I assume that the warehouse was probably too hot and dry for the guitar. Unfortunately, the guitar was not ready to be played out of the box. This guitar was difficult to find even in a store so I kept it and I do like it very much. Despite the problem with the frets, I am glad Amazon offers this beautiful guitar. ... show more

    • the best bang for your buck

So far I'm very happy with this guitar. I've been shopping on and off for a new classical guitar for a few years, as the one I own is a very low-end student model. Based on my preference and research, I was looking for a spruce top with all solid wood for the back and the sides. This and a couple other guitars made the short-list, but I'll admit I had a tough time finding them to play locally. I decided to pull the trigger on this one via Amazon, because I'm very familiar with the Córdoba brand, and although I rarely return anything, Amazon is very easy and friendly to work with if I didn't like the instrument. Shipping was quick, and the guitar was protected inside a Córdoba polyfoam case (not quite as rugged as a good hard case, but it's a canvas wrapped, zippered case). I restrung the guitar immediately, and also put a humidifier in it. For some reason they put a silica gel packet inside the body of the guitar... It sounded amazing on day one, and it's light years ahead of my old classical. Now that it's properly humidified, it sounds even better! The fretboard is very wide and flat, so if you're more used to electrics and/or traditional acoustics, you may want to consider a crossover model. I use it for all styles, but specifically got it to start playing more classical and Latin music. As far as looks go, the guitar is also very beautiful. There is a glossy finish covering the whole body, and the rosette is inlaid with mother of pearl and ebony (not just a decal like a lot of budget models). Final thoughts: this is a relatively cheap guitar, when you consider how much you can spend on a classical. With that said, it sounds and plays like a much more expensive instrument. Córdoba doesn't skimp on the materials on these, but they are able to offer them at such an attractive price because they are built in China (under close supervision of Córdoba luthiers, supposedly). I've played for almost 20 years, and I can't find anything about this guitar that disappoints me. I'm sure if you are a concert guitarist, this may fall a little short of your expectations, but that's going to come with significant expense! ... show more

    • Nice guitar except for the buzzes
I think that it is a good guitar at the price and would keep it except for buzzing issues in the base E and A strings. I took it to the local guitar shop and they tried it and agreed that it has some uneven frets from the fifth fret and up. They offered a luthier to have a look but why bother when its a new guitar that can be returned. I also noticed that the strings already had some wear out of the box so I suspect that it has been a floor demo at some shop. The issue now is whether to get something else in the price range or get a replacement. Other than the fret issue it would be a keeper and I'm disappointed. However, the buzzing is a real deal breaker. No matter how much care I give to fretting the note I get a fingernails-on-chalkboard buzz. ... show more

As a beginning student, I'm looking for a quality guitar that will last me into my intermediate playing stage. Based on a lot of research the Cordoba C10 appeared to be what I was looking for. Since I'm only beginning, I requested my instructor (a very accomplished classical guitarist) to play the guitar and provide me with his input. His comment was that it was very stiff and recommended a luthier do a set up and that may eliminate the issue. The luthier inspected the guitar and stated that he could adjust the saddle to allow the strings to be between the typical high-normal and high setting. At this point there could be no further adjustment to accommodate the normal changes that occur as a guitar ages. ... show more

The C10 SP arrived in new polished condition. Desirable balanced volume and deeper sounding tone. The frets are smooth. As with any new guitar, you may have to adjust the truss and bridge and change strings. There was some objectionable buzz out of the box but was able to resolve this with adjustments.
