I have used these many of a time over the years. So I knew what to expect. 1st its just privacy Shade, not black out. Helps just a little with light and heat. next you need to know how to adjust these springs to get just the right tension, it's a trial and error to get it how you like it. Cutting is easy just take your time and make sure to cut the correct side, the side with the plastic cap, not the spring tension side. They put a large warning on the shade itself. Our last ones lasted many years, we get 5-10 years of use out of each time, I have them every room of our house, except the kitchen-dining area. To Help in blocking sun and heat, I also use Sin tint the 20% on all our windows also, I install that myself also. With using the Sun Tint And this Sun Shade, it really reduces heat and light. Price has went up a bit I remember getting these at Walmart for $10. Because of the higher price and cheaper build I can only award it a 4 star review. ... show more

The first item I received was bent in the middle and a replacement was shipped and received very quickly. The instructions were easy to follow but the shade material is very thin. The blind will not roll up without creasing in the middle, which makes it roll up uneven. The only way to keep it from creasing is by rolling it up by hand. I’m only keeping the shade because I’m putting it in my garage and so not want to mess with returning another one. ... show more

Easy to install, easy to customize, Highly Recommended. Doesn't come with instructions. Below you'll see I have wrote out the way I accomplished installing the shades I purchased. Tools needed: Pliers, Scissors, Screwdriver(manual or battery operated) First measure to fit window, next install brackets(included with purchase) inside or outside window frame (your preference), now measure the length needed again to ensure secure fit. With your pliers to pull off white capped side, unroll the entire curtain, measure the rod again to check for errors. Now using scissors & starting at the bottom cut the curtain to desired width till you get to the rod, here you're going to peel the remainder away from the cardboard. This is where you can remove all the necessary cardboard rings from the rod. After that's done roll up the curtain completely & evenly. Once that is done, it's time replace the white cap(be sure to line up the grooves). While holding the rolled up curtain rod place the white cap side to the floor and compress it until the exposed metal is unseen. Next is to ensure curtain fits into brackets you've already installed. When that is finished and your curtain is installed & hanging, measure the length needed for the bottom plastic piece that will be inserted to the bottom slit of your curtain. I followed the directions exactly the way they were written. I knew they were cheap and I might ruin them if I wasn’t careful. The directions tell you exactly what to do for installation, and what to do if the shade won’t roll up all the way, or is too tight to pull all the way down. It resolved the problem immediately. I’m blown away by all of the bad reviews on these because people didn’t follow directions. For the money, I think they are well worth it. They’re not expensive looking, but perfect for added privacy behind my see through bamboo shade at night. ... show more

I bought two because you can size it to what you need. The sizes I need are not the standard you can just buy off the shelf. Unpacked one, sized it and removed the extra like they show in the video. Very easy, not a perfect edge but that's okay. I put it up, it pulled down not as smooth as I thought it would be, but then it wouldn't go back up. So, I took it down tightened the end piece till I could feel the spring tighten some. Tried it again, same result. Tightened the end some more, same result. Kept going. On the fifth time something inside happened and the thing let loose and would not tighten again. So I went to the second one I bought, thinking maybe that just had a bad part or something. Same result. It will not tighten to the point that you can get the shade to go back up. Now it just hangs down. Junk and not worth the money. THIS IS JUNK!!!!!!!!! ... show more
