  • Good unit so far
I bought this for a 16x10 building I built and use for a mancave. House wrap, insulation, everything a good house would have except plumbing so i wanted to be comfortable too. Thought about putting in a standard house unit but 1.5 tin is the smallest I can get and the cost to do that was more than I wanted to spend on it. I do hvac so I knew what I was looking for. I wanted a heat pump that didn't use heat strips as the heat and had the two hose set up to pull in and exhaust the air for what would be the outdoor coil. Also I wired my building for 110v and this kept me from having to run a new wire for the ac/heat pump. The installation was pretty basic, just a matter of fitting the mounting plate for the exhaust/intake hoses into your window. I did go the extra mile and do some sealing with standard Nassau duct tape that prevented outside air coming into the building during operation because it creates negative pressure and will pull in thru any holes that are there. I raised my unit up a foot and put 3/4" pvc drain through the wall and tied on the lower drain on this unit with 1/2" automotive heater hose with a barbed to pvc fitting. Luckily it fit the lower drain tight enough to not leak because you don't really have space for a pipe clamp and I wouldn't recommend any glue since it may need to be removed to clear a clog. I have operated this unit during cold and hot days and I have no issues with its ability to cool and heat the space. It keeps me comfortable and with the insulated walls and ceiling holds temps very well. The controls aren't bad once you learn how to operate them. You have to learn what the images are to learn the mode of operation because instead of using words, they used icons. The temperature sensor that reads the temperature in the space is a little off, only a degree or 2 but that's no big deal if you adjust your setting based on comfort and not the actual number. I do however wish that this unit had the ability to be connected to a thermostat and I know it's expecting alot from a system that's just plug and play but I just like the thought of a smart thermostat being able to turn it off/on and the temp would be more accurate. All in all this thing works great and I saved alot of money getting this one instead something bigger. I will update this post after some time to give insight on the dehumidification during operation and the lifespan of the unit itself. ... show more

  • Only work 3 months
Complete failed system in 3 months. System no longer works. The company will request you to find a technician to diagnose the problem. Crazy why don't they dispatch their techs. Stay away from this unit.

  • Decent Unit, with some limitations
First, this thing really pumps out the heat, and it's surprisingly efficient. Keeps room warmer than a space heater at half the cost. I've only used the AC a small amount at this point, I will come back and update in a couple of months when the weather warms up. Overall, it's a very well made unit, fit and finish is excellent, and presents as a quality product. First Observation: The remote is as useful as a screen door on a submarine. It has no visual indicator of what's going on, no indication of settings, and no feedback on anything you do with it. So you have to get up and walk to the unit anyway.....at that point you might as well use the controls on the unit. The storage holder is a good place for it, put the batteries in something useful. 2nd Observation: There is a real design flaw on this unit. There are two drain points for condensation, the upper and the lower. There are two condensers in this unit, an upper and lower. This is important to note. When running in normal AC mode, the upper condenser is the "cold" side, and the lower is the hot side. In normal operation, water from the upper condenser fills up an indentation where the upper drain hose connects. If you have a drain hose, the water drains on out. If you do not, the water will rise above that indentation, then drain down into the lower drain pan. There is a small spinning wheel with a paddle....that splashes the water up into the lower condenser (the hot side) where it evaporates and is removed via the exhaust host. This also has the added benefit of increasing efficiency by cooling the hot side. Pretty good system right? Quite nice in fact. However, when you run it in heat mode...this is a heat pump unit....the condensers switch roles. Now the upper condenser is the "hot" side, and the lower is the "cold" side. So what happens here? All the condensation is forming at the bottom, and DOES NOT DRAIN OUT OF YOUR DRAIN HOSE. Yes, you heard me, all the condensation forms in the bottom. And of course.....since this is not the "cold" condenser, it does not evaporate the water and move it out the exhaust. So.......very quickly in fact, in a humid environment......the bottom reservoir fills up, and the unit shuts off until you empty it. Very annoying. And the low drain is to low to easily use. Best work around is to either put the unit on an elevated platform and plumb the lower unit into the same drain as the upper. Or, put a drain in the floor for the lower drain (what I did). You could in fact, just plumb in a single drain on the lower drain and leave the upper capped, but you need enough height to let gravity work. The manufacturer should have installed a small pump in the bottom of the unit to run when the heat function is used to pump the condensation up to the top where it could drain off via the top drain tube. 3rd Observation: This unit is quiet. Very quiet. Much more so than a window unit. I bought this as an interim solution until I get a mini-split installed, but at this point, I'm perfectly happy with this and will likely just use this until it breaks. ... show more

  • Heat pump mode for winter use
I own 2 of these. One in the basement and the other on the first floor of my 200+ year old farm house. I was so impressed by this unit that I purchased the new dual in hose version. I returned that one after a few weeks of use. It would shut off at exactly 40 degrees. I’ve had this unit working at 19 degrees so Far. I use a wood stove and a pellet stove as my main sources of heat. These two units have been excellent as secondary heating sources and moving the air around. I’ve used a ton less pellets and about a cord less wood so far into this heating season. The electric bill has not been any different. I have not used these units for cooling except for A few unseasonal days. So no review on that. ... show more

  • Good luck.....
Just installed in 14x7 insulated cargo trailer July 2023 (Hot outside). Unit purchased during reno phase in May 2023. Tested upon receipt for functionality and everything working. Did not test how well it cooled; just all functions were working. Set aside to complete reno. Frist trip out was cut short due to inadequate cooling. Would only cool to 5-7 degree difference to outside temp. Contacted C&H support and was told this unit was only to be used as a supplemental unit rather than primary and below 90 degrees. Recommended taking the intake hose and allow to draw inside air rather than external (as you know, creates a vacuum and draws in external air). A 7000 SACC BTU unit should have no problem cooling 100 square feet. Other trailers around me were getting frozen with 5k window units. Outside 30 day return so going to have to eat this one and get something else that works. ... show more
