This was great for me as a beginner at crochet! I like that it came with everything you need. It was hard for me to understand the instructions in the book- but there are plenty of video tutorials out there that helped me get started. The colors are great and the yarn is soft - but it does tend to unravel while you crochet. In the pic you can see the unraveling pieces of yarn on the hook. It makes it challenging to work with, but it’s still doable with lots of patience and undoing and redoing parts! ... show more

Nice kit but it has some flaws

Well, for those that are beginners the yarn that is included in this kit is not the easiest to work with. It tends to the unwind a fray. The yarn portions are also not appropriate to make the blanket. I have 75 blocks and there is no more white yarn. Instructions say the kit should make 90. I have 3 & 1/2 skeins of purple yarn and 3/4 of a skein of yellow left so probably enough to make the 15 missing blocks for the pattern. Someone needs to recheck the pattern and correct this. A great little kit. The milk cotton yarn is super soft and yummy. The balls are small which makes it very travel friendly. It also comes in a resealable vinyl bag. I just started it, but it looks like it has plenty of yarn and comes with two hooks, one for the squares, the other for the border, nippers, make sure you hold the yarn under tension to cut, a retractable measuring tape, stitch markers and darning needles. As an experienced crocheter, I have some notes. The yarn has a loose twist so will have a tendency to split, go slow until you get used to it. You can also over-twist it to compensate. The pattern is well written, if you are familiar with written patterns. It does not have a chart. If you are a very beginner and are having trouble, there is a QR code to tutorial videos, they are slow paced and show her hands well. If you are still having trouble, look for other videos where they use the knife grip instead of the pencil grip and that may help. I use the knife grip when crocheting. ... show more

I taught myself how to crochet this year, this kit was one of the first crochet kits I bought during that journey. I learned a lot while making this blanket, and here’s what I have to say about this kit. The good: -the blanket it cute, perfect size for a baby blanket -the yarn is soft The bad: -this yarn is the hardest yarn I’ve ever had the displeasure of working with. It splits constantly, it takes 2-3x as long to crochet because the yarn is not user friendly, especially for a beginner. -you will not have enough white yarn. About 2/3 of the way through, I had to buy more white yarn. I finished the project and still have green and yellow yarn left. They did not calculate the correct amount of yarn needed for this project. -the instructions are not clear. While I completed this project, it was not due to the instructions of this kit. It completed it out of spite, and stubbornness. I frequently needed to Google or watch videos on YouTube how to complete certain stitches, because the instructions did not provide that information clearly. While I learned how to crochet, it was NOT because of this kit. My recommendations: If you want to learn how to crochet, and you want to make a cute granny square blanket like this one, do not buy this kit. Find a granny square pattern you like (there are plenty easy to follow tutorials on YouTube) and buy well rated yarn you like. You will have an easier time making this blanket using high quality yarn and a YouTube tutorial. If I could go back, I would do that, but by the time I figured it out, I was already halfway through the blanket. Take it from me, and save yourself the frustration and ultimately the money of having to find more white yarn because this is an incomplete product. ... show more
