  • A huge value in a cute, little package.
Color: Black
This small, thermoelectric cooler/heater, is built for a one job, and it does it well. It even looks good while doing it. Overall, and for its cost, it's hard to beat this cooler. The good: It works extremely well, dropping the interior temperature to as much as 20 degrees below the ambient. I had it plugged in through both the 12v cigarette lighter, and the 110v wall plug. It may work even better with the wall plug, as when I have it in my room, it gets cold enough to rival the can compartment in my refrigerator! It's also nearly silent. When I had this in the cab of my semi-truck, I never heard it over the engine, and in my bedroom, I can hear the ticking of my clock over this thing! It's also lightweight, and seems to be well built, granted I've only had it for about a weeks though I haven't turned it off since then, except to move it from my home, to my truck, and back to my home. It also seems to be highly energy efficient, at least in 12v mode. I plugged it into the port in my truck (granted I have 4 deep cycle batteries), and it ran overnight without lowering the voltage by even .2 volts. Maybe overnight in a regular car would be a bad idea, though. The bad: It's small, and by small, I mean tiny. iT claims to fit 6 cans, but that's incorrect. It'll fit 5, with the bottom three on their sides. If you put the bottom 3 or 4 cans upright, the diminutive shelf on the door prevents it from fully closing. I fit 4 cans of pop, a package if lunchmeat, and 8 slices of Kraft American cheese inside of it, and that's it. The door also has no latch. It's held shut by a semi-powerful magnet. When driving, I buckled it into the passenger seat, with the door facing the buckle, to help keep it shut, in case I had to turn really hard. The the maker's credit, the magnet(s) are strong enough that even with stuff inside of the compartment to weigh it down, I have to rest a hand atop it so that I can open the door without shifting the whole unit. The ugly: Not a thing! It's actually kind of nice looking, or at least I think so. ... show more

  • Tech specs for nerds
Color: Black
I bought this tiny fridge to store my keto chocolate bars in, and it does an excellent job of keeping them cold and crunchy. The unit comes with three different power cables, which allow it to be powered from either 110V AC, 12V DC, or from USB. I got out a wireless thermometer, and tested powering the cooler from the three power sources. Here is what I got: * 110V AC: room temp 75.6°F - temp inside the cooler 37.1°F = 38.5°F differential. I did not measure the power consumption in this mode. * 13V DC: 76.1 - 36.1 = 40°F differential. Current draw: 2.6A. * USB (5V DC): 74.5 - 50.7 = 23.8°F differential. Current draw: 0.95A. Note that as this is a thermoelectric cooler and not a refrigerator, therefore the inside temperature follows the outside temperature; in other words, the hotter the temperature outside, the warmer it will be inside the cooler. For example, if the temperature outside is 90°F the inside temperature will be roughly 50°F when powered from 13V DC. When I was setting up for the 13V DC test, I accidentally powered the cooler from 30V DC. The fans inside the cooler spun up as if attempting a takeoff, and the current surged to 5+ amps. I thought I fried the cooler and was preparing to buy a replacement, but several weeks later it keeps working as if nothing happened. Some people complained about water collecting at the bottom of the cooler. That's totally expected: you let the warm air inside the unit, it gets cooled, so you get condensation. Just put down a folded paper towel to absorb it, and replace it once in a while. Overall, I'm impressed with the quality and function of the unit. It does exactly what I need. UPDATE 2024.05.18: The mini cooler failed after 20 months in service. It's cheap enough and works well enough, so I bought the same one again. Out of curiosity, I took the old one apart. Inside was a switching power supply, control board, PC style fan, aluminum heatsink and a TEC1-12703 thermoelectric cooler. The TEC was receiving 12 volts, so I theorized that that was the part that failed. I bought a six pack of the TECs for $22, some thermal paste, cleaned the rust off the heatsink screws by soaking them in vinegar overnight and waited until I was sufficiently bored to attempt a repair. After an event got canceled today, I grabbed my son and together we replaced the TEC, reassembled the cooler and it's working again. I think that it should be possible to extend the life of the cooler by periodically blowing out the dust that accumulates on the heatsink and traps heat and moisture. One thing that the manufacturer can improve is to replace the heatsink screws with stainless steel ones. The cold side of the TEC condenses moisture from the air and causes the screws to rust. ... show more

  • Cold and Quiet
Color: Black
I have had this for over a month now. It purrs along quetly right next to my lounge chair. It is very cold. I keep a paper towel in the bottom to catch any small amount of condensation. I highly recommend this cooler.

  • Decent for anything non perishable
Color: Black
I know it wasn't advertised as such, but its not cold enough to actually keep temp of anything that needs to stay cold. Its good for small soda cans and makeup products. Its pretty small, like a tiny box. I don't think it gets as cold as the description says it can. It doesn't make too much noise as well, my mom likes it. ... show more
