  • It's my kids' favorite Cooking Mama game!
As an adult gamer, I tire fast of these games. But I have young kids who really like them. I was thinking I would skip Sweet Shop because they hadn't been as interested in Gardening Mama which is the last one we got. But since the kids really like sweets, I decided to get this one. I'm really glad we got it. I think this is their favorite Cooking Mama. I don't know that it's better than 5, but they really like making the sweets! One of the big problem with Cooking Mama games is that there are always a lot of recipes that don't interest kids. I think Cooking Mama 5 had more recipes they liked than the previous games, but it still had a few weird ones like Cabbage Roll Tomato Soup and Tofu. That's why Sweet Shop is so brilliant. What kid doesn't like sweets! I don't think there's a single recipe my kids dislike! There are a few modes beyond just doing recipes. You can open a store and sell to customers to make money to unlock costumes for Mama and decorations. There is a the World Challenge which has extra mini-games that can even be played in multiplayer. The multi-player is 2-4 players and you only need one game cartridge to play (but each additional player needs a 3DS). I think the extra stuff in Cooking Mama 5 were a little better, but I think there's better progression in getting stuff from doing extras and the main recipes. It may be easier to do perfect in this game than some of the previous ones. Of course, my kids could just be better than they used to be too. I think it helps my youngest to want to play more when she does well, so I don't think easy is a bad thing in this type of game. The down side is that it's a pretty shallow game and that it seems expensive when you compare it to so many cheap games on phones/tablets. My kids like both 3DS and tablet games and I think there still is a place for 3DS games. I do remember buying many of the Cooking Mama games for twenty bucks and I probably wouldn't have bought this without the Prime discount. In the end, my kids love it. They're asking to make some of the sweets that they're making in the game. I'm not sure we're ready to step up from making cookies, but I think we might watch some British Baking Show after this! :) ... show more

  • Daughters love it!
My daughters, 8 and 5 adore this game and they show me what they make and most of the time the stuff they make actually looks really good, like delicious - realistic appearing desserts. My 5 year old can’t read yet but she watched her sister creating all the desserts and learned how to play without needing to read anything... I search for games to capture their attention and likes because we travel a lot and car rides can be so long, this game did the job. ... show more

  • A 3DS favorite!
Cooking Mama (or any Mama title for that matter) is always a good time! This edition is no exception. From it's bright and colorful design, to it's easy to manage game play, there's much to love about the simplistic yet familiar nature of a Mama game not to mention it's fun for all ages. If you're a fan of the series or just curious as to why she was one of the DS more popular titles, then give it a play. A Mama never disappoints. ... show more

  • Gurettou!
I love LOVE this game so much! I appreciate the scoring mechanics are better in this game; it is more lenient. The previous ones I rage quit often LOL. This game makes me so happy. As a former pastry chef of three years, this game really does a brilliant job on the recipes and the methods. I often giggle to myself of the game's wittiness. Super clever game and truly brings back memories of being in the kitchen ... show more

  • BUY IT
I have all of the mama games for 3ds/ds and I love them all. Cooking mama has always been my favorite though. I was so excited when I found out that they were releasing a new one about baking since that's something I love to do. I was not disappointed by my purchase, I love it! There are many different recipes to make and the graphics are also really well done. HOWEVER, while I still give it 5 stars there are a few small things I don't like. I think that it's too easy to get money, it would be cool if you had to decorate whatever they bought how they wanted. I also think that some of the mini games are too easy. Although I do understand that younger kids do play this as well. You should still buy it. You will not be disappointed. ... show more

  • Fun game!
Purchased this as a Christmas gift for my kids. I decided to try the game out myself so I could help show my kids how the game works. My son is only 6 and still learning the 3ds system. It does require some reading knowledge but it easily explains how to complete each task. It's a fun game and I highly recommend it! ... show more
