    • Great life jacket with one design flaw
I bought this for my 9 year old who is tall for his age. This fit perfectly (so I'm guessing it might be a bit small of other older kids). My kid wore this all day at the beach splashing around in the waves all day. After a few hours I noticed that the life jacket was REALLY heavy. It turns out that sand had gotten through the holes where the straps weave inside. Within a few hours of playing on the sandy beach with ocean waves, this life jacket turned into a literal sand bag! There was no way to get the sand out and I am not exaggerating when I say that the life jacket was FILLED with sand. In the end, my only option was to cut a hole in the outer fabric and dig out the sand. I left a big pile of sand on the hotel balcony after removing all of it. So if you intend to use this anywhere near a sandy beach with waves, I would avoid it. The fit is great on this one for a 40in tall, 37 pound 3.5 year old. She's comfortable in it while the boat is underway, and even fell asleep with it on in the canoe.

My 8 year old son is right at 50 pounds and this works great. It's a LITTLE big on him, but the smaller size would have been too small, so this is great for him to be able to use now and still grown in. This is a great jacket that has vibrant colors.

Absolutely the best vest I have ever ordered! Keeps his head completely afloat. He still has plenty of movement to swim and sit! He can jump in and it shoots him right back to the surface of the water. I highly recommend this life vest!!

Oddly, there are very few vests made for young teens (over 90 pounds with slim figure). This is a high quality vest that fills that need. It is probably a little on the small side for the advertised chest/weight range (hence the 4 versus 5 stars), but we are happy with the purchase.
