We bought 3 of these for a workshop we have on our back lot and we have the same issues with all 3. They don’t cool the space (rooms are each 250-300sq ft), they are VERY loud while running and every 8-10 minutes they make a super loud clunking noise and shut off entirely. You absolutely cannot sleep in a room with one of these. If it had been just one we had issues with I would give them the benefit of the doubt but because all 3 have the exact same problems, I’d recommend not buying. Unfortunately we bought them 5 months before we unboxed and used them so we weren’t able to return and are now stuck with them. ... show more

    • Why cheap on a tiny little part?

I just set this AC unit up. I haven't really used it yet because I purchased it in preparation for the summer months. But one thing occurred to me during the setup of this: there's a tiny little part that's pretty important but the manufacturer cheaped out on. The piece that lets you connect the hose to your window is resizable, which is nice, but once you have the right size you have to use one of the two included plastic "screws" to lock it in. I put screws in quotation marks because they're in no way actual screws. They have no threading, no way to turn them with a screwdriver, they're just screw-shaped bits of plastic. I thought maybe you just have to push them in and they'd pop into place, but no dice. Eventually I got a pair of pliers and deformed the cheap plastic until it wouldn't keep falling out. This unit has a retail price of over six hundred dollars (I got it on sale, but that's beside the point) and I can see no reason that the manufacturers felt the need to save literal fractions of a penny per unit with cheap plastic "screws" over... actual screws. Or clips. Or any of a thousand different ways to hold something at a given size. Also, the instructions weren't great, but they weren't egregiously bad either. I was able to figure them out with zero prior experience. Aside from my ranting about a fraction-of-a-cent problem, the unit seems fine. Powered on just fine, at least. Won't be able to tell how effective it is at cooling for a few months. ... show more

Started making some noise after a week. Still worked but after a month this just happened all the blades on the fan suddenly broke off making a horrible sound waking up the whole house. Would not recommend this to anyone nothing this expensive should break like this after a month of use.

I bought a Commercial Cool potable air conditioner last summer, because my first one was great, but it was old and wasn’t working properly. I live in Massachusetts, so I really only use my air conditioner for about 2 months a year. This June, I plugged in my new air conditioner, and it did not work. I called Black &Decker, the manufacturer of Commercial Cool, and they said that since it was still under warranty, they would replace it. They would send me a free return mailing receipt, and I would have to box it, and have UPS pick it up. I called Black & Decker several times, and emailed them 7 times, before I got a response. Six weeks later, they are finally going to pick it up, and they said it will be about 2 weeks before they ship a new one. It will be “the dog days of August", and I will have to go without an air conditioner for almost the entire summer. I am so disappointed in this company. Follow up: It is now August 11th, and I still don’t have my air conditioner, and I haven’t heard anything from Black & Decker. ... show more
