    • A very intriguing machine at a good price but with design maturity and product support issues

This machine was returned to Amazon because: -- The 100mm lens is defective, it has a defect in the center that diminishes the laser in an area centered in the field. -- The focus motor intermittently does not work (but the hand crank was used to manually focus) -- The power of the laser became inconsistent over time. It seemed to start out fine but after a few days it would not create the same mark using the same settings, lens and material (while positioning the material to avoid the lens defect above). -- I needed this machine to mark on copper metal. Although it did an excellent job on other metals, I never could get it to mark consistently on copper without slowing the machine to a crawl. I suspect a 30 watt laser may just not be adequate for this purpose. -- The product support is slow and mostly ineffective in getting to the bottom of these issues quickly. I'm sure they are doing their best but conversations are limited to one per day (due to time zone differences I suspect). A detailed description of issues from me was usually met with a one sentence answer that didn't show that they completely understood my problem (due to language barrier I'd suspect). They did offer to replace parts etc. but I can't imagine how long that process would actually take, and I didn't have the time to find out. Summary: A very intriguing machine at a good price but the design maturity, and their product support processes, are not yet reliable enough to support a machine that must be relied upon by anyone who needs a reliable machine with timely issue resolution. ... show more

Let's start with the drawback, if you use Linux, this engraver requires a load of the FW over USB before it is recognized. Without doing this, LightBurn couldn't see the device and let you set it up. I found someone on the LightBurn forum that wrote a python script that worked with the windows lmcv2u.sys (32-bit version) that allowed this to load. After that, LightBurn could find the device, and it seems to set it up after that. Once that was sorted, I followed the instructions to get the settings right and have been playing with various things since. I have done stainless steel, copper, brass, anodized business cards, slate, and as the pictures show, rocks from my yard. The initial start-up was frustrating, but the laser itself has been fun. On a side note, the staff at the customer support has been helpful and looking to improve, hopefully they will provide the files needed to get this set up easier in the future. But their communication has been a plus in my eyes, and what brought this from a 4 star to a 5 star review. Now onto my thoughts on the engraver. The details it produces are out of this world. This is does such a good job engraving, the rocks in the picture are sitting on paper towels, you can see they aren't that big, yet the detail is stunning. Adjusting the height is really easy, for a introduction to fiber lasers, this is a great unit. ... show more

This is my third laser, the first was a Diode, then the CO2 now this fiber and I have to say this one is the most "fun". The lack of complex moving parts makes it much more approachable to experiment with, with your imagination being the limit of the cool things you can do with it. The rock pictured is just some random yard rock with a cute little cow deep engraved into it with a splash of acrylic paint to highlight the depth. The accuracy/detail this can produce is utterly astounding, you might want to budget for a USB microscope just so you can see the fine details. ... show more

The machine itself is pretty quick. It does not engrave right on leather nor steel. I’m very upset with this. I got this one because it was a decent price and I figured I would be able to engrave on a lot of material. So I don’t know if I had to get a higher wattage or what. But the 20w that I got said everything that I liked. I definitely would have returned it if I would have tested it out more in a timely manner. The unit was well packed. Excellent quality. Easy to set up and operate. This is my first fiber laser. I would consider the manufacturer for a higher power unit. I am extremely pleased with the machine.

Received item box was damage , all the old shipping labels from the previous buyer still on the box, the worst part was items missing out of the box, the coupler that is used to lower and raise the unit was stripped

I haven’t fully gotten into my fiber laser but I’ve done enough to know it works perfectly. I have been EXTREMELY nervous about spending thousands on a fiber laser from overseas but this was a very easy purchase. What’s even more outstanding was the customer service. Absolutely perfect. Thank you.
