    • Not A Standard Size Base & My Tip To Make Wiring Easier
The base of this motion sensor, that screws into your electrical fixture, is NOT a standard size !!! Most threaded holes in outdoor electrical fixtures are 1/2". The base of this motion sensor is much smaller. I would guess closer to 3/8". As for wiring the motion sensor, like most people I found a wiring diagram online... INSTALLATION TIP: Label the motion sensor wires with colored electrical tape to avoid confusion. WHITE tape goes on the BLUE wire - This is the Neutral (Connects to the light bulb & house white wires ) BLACK tape goes on the BROWN wire - This is the HOT-IN (Connects to your black house power wire) RED tape goes on the RED wire - This is the HOT-OUT (Connects to your red light bulb wire) Now you can ignore the color of the wires and just look at the color of the tape to guide you. ... show more

    • Too much trouble, no instructions
There I was, being a Cheap Charlie as usual. Oh no, I wasn't gonna spend $30-somthing for a replacement motion sensor at HD. Much less a new, complete light fixture. So I went the cheap route with this unit. First of all, it bugs me that I ordered this and some other stuff on July 8. Then on July 12, I ordered a pair of Vise Grips. Amazon delayed the July 8 order so they could include the July 12 order, so I had to wait longer on the stuff ordered earlier. Second, all four items of the combined two orders were packed in a plastic UPS bag, no padding or protection for the motion sensor. With after all, cheap as it is, contains some semi-delicate components. Third, the motion sensor has a non-standard mounting base and I had to putz around, grinding out the mounting hole in my original light fixture, then finding an appropriate washer to back the nut. Fourth, the motion sensor unit comes with no installation instructions, nor anything describing the controls on the bottom. So I guess tonight I'll find out how those work. After installation, the light comes on, then goes off in daylight. It would sense motion in daylight, so I turned one of the dials (the one I couldn't ID), and it seemed to keep it from sensing in daylight. We'll see. After all this razz-a-ma-taz, I'd say, just buy the entire new replacement lighting unit with motion sensor. It will save you time if not money. Oh, I forgot to say that initially, I ordered a motion sensor from Amazon. I neglected to note that it was 12 volt. Useless for my 120v application. Good returns policy by Amazon allowed me to send it back for refund. But who knew there were cheap 12v motion sensor lights. I guess they must be somewhere, like boats and RV's. ... show more

    • Easy to install (with the wiring diagram), easy to adjust, works as expected.
I installed this sensor into a porch light fixture I purchased here on Amazon (https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B010PTLFT0). I had originally tried using some A19 LED bulbs with radar-based motion sensors built in, but for some reason, they would either blink on and off all night or never turn on at all. This sensor was pretty easy to install. The wires are a different color than standard US house wiring, so I had to look up a diagram online to match things up. The sensor here https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B01EYDBHRI has a customer image of the wiring diagram in case that helps anyone looking. Or you can find quite a few posted around the internet as well. As for the sensor itself, it has been installed for a couple months or so now and has worked exactly as I expected. It can get fairly windy around our home, so I played around with the sensitivity dial until I got it to just cover the back sidewalk up to the porch. I also adjusted the lux dial so that it will only light up when it detects motion after dark. The settings did take me a while to get just right, but it was super easy. Just took some time to test a setting, then wait, then adjust it, then test it again, and so on. My wife thought I was going crazy walking in and out of the back door all night until I told her what I was doing. The sensor housing is plastic, and feels decently sturdy. It can be aimed just about any direction needed. I mounted my sensor on the bottom of the fixture, and with the dials facing down, to help keep bad weather out. I haven't seen any issues yet, and we have had a lot of rain so far this spring. ... show more

    • NO INSTRUCTIONS OR WIRING DIRECTIONS
The item is... is exactly like the picture. But has no wiring diagram, or operating instructions. I connected, but now the Flood Light is on all the time... Don't waste your money. For some few more dollars buy a new flood light. Is easier, simpler and less work, and it will work. The color of this PIR's cables, but for the red, are different from my Flood light. ... show more

Has weird wiring color, thank goodness someone answered that question in the questions section. The attachment is NOT standard 1/2", Just slightly larger, Had to make a mount for it.
