I already has the Z1 5w and bought the Air Assist to add on. Price is good. Install is easy and works with no major issues with the caveat that your acrylic focus plate used to measure distance no longer works once this kit is installed. The guard that comes on the stock 5w laser is about 3mm taller than the new nozzle. If trying to use the 2mm acrylic that comes with the Z1 the focus will be off. I printed a new paddle spacer tool at about 5mm that works, so it is working but may play with that distance a bit to dial it in. Other than that unit is sturdy and well made. The only thing improvements that could be made are a built in pressure gauge or a more precise power dial with clicks instead of smooth turning. Hard to know how much air I am pumping. Overall a very good value and nice piece of kit. Would buy again if upgrading a laser w/o air. ... show more

I spent all my savings and every spare penny I had to get this. I'm really happy with it but wish I would have waited until I had enough for upgrades. Bigger laser, the roller, and the air system......looks like Ramen for another year. Lol. This performs a lot better than I expected. There is definitely a learning curve for the software. This laser engraver came to me flawless. The materials used are amazing. Nice aluminum without a scratch in it. Easy to put together. I don't give many positive reviews but I had for this unit. It works well beyond what I was expecting, it comes with some small sample tile pieces of wood to mess around with for practice. It can take a bit of time getting it assembled out of box if your not used to building things like small furniture pieces like desk or something you can buy and assemble. The directions are a little poor and misinformative for which way pieces face. If you get the right software to use with it, it is a blast to engrave on all types of mediums. Some mediums like glass and metal take some extra steps like paint them or coloring them to get a engraving on them because it's only about a 5 watt engraver. The only downside is trying to get it focused with the manual slider adjuster. For that reason I can't give it 5 stars because trying to get that just right manually is really difficult and somewhat frustrating. Other than that, I recommend this engraver for entry level and novice people wanting to have fun making memorable projects. ... show more

What I really liked about this enclosure was the price and quality. It was super easy to assemble and very light. I found that a 24" X 24" piece of plywood fits perfectly between the poles and the corner pieces rest on top (see pictures). I hooked up a 4" flexible hose connected to a AC booster fan and vented outside. It works very well to keep all the smoke and fumes out of my workspace. My only complaint is that where the vent hose connects it is very flimsy since it's just a fabric wall. I plan on 3d printing up some brackets and using a piece of 1/4" plywood to give it better support. This is a very minor issue when you consider how cheap this is. I am using this with an Atomstack P9 so there is a bit of extra room inside. ... show more

I've had this thing for a minute now, and it's never let me down. I haven't started on metal or anything besides wood. This thing, for a 5w rocks. Yes, it takes some dialing in, yes it takes some tweaking to get it o do everything you want it to do. But for the price and the level, it worked it's behind off. I've used everything from the bass wood, up to and including hard red oak, and it works like a charm. There are a few things I'd change, such as the focus glass that comes with it. However, I know my issue with it, is I don't have air assist and some of the bass boards were warped or twisted. This baby rocks, and it's everything I expected plus some. Can't wait to get the 20W so that I can start producing metal and ceramic parts. ... show more

This is my first laser engraver. I bought it to compliment my woodturning to put my logo on the bottom of each bowl I make. This laser engraver does that perfectly. I'm using the basic software, which takes time to get used, but not too bad. I'm able to produce a perfect logo everytime. Comgrow has made several important upgrades that involve the Air Assist. The newer Z1, I'm not sure how they designate it, (I bought mine in July 2023) has a single Power and PWM connector on the top PBC above of the laser module (vs two connectors on the previous model). The newer Laser head integrates and includes a black "Blow Head" nozzle with a right angle air connection already included. I see Comgrow has removed the blue 38mm nozzle from the Air Assist kit, as it is no longer necessary for (and will not fit) the new Z1 units. No issues, as Comgrow provides everything you'll need. I've noted the larger air Nozzle aperture on the new black Blow Head vs the smaller aperture on the Blue Nozzle included in the kit (not using). Wondering why the change and if it matters.
