It took me 5 pairs before I finally got the right size for these. Most Columbia boots run small and narrow. I know this because I own two different types of Columbia snow boots. They are the only brand I wear for snow/winter for the last 20 - 30 years. I bought these assuming they would also run small, big mistake. If you buy the right size, when you put these on, you won’t want to take them off because they are that comfortable. I normally wear 9-9.5 medium width shoes. I purchased a 10 wide, a half size up from my usual shoe size range, to allow for my feet to have plenty of room with hiking socks and because the toes are on my right feet do not lay flat like my left foot. Your toes should not feel squished in any shoe. I got wide because Columbia are usually on the narrow side. My left foot is a medium width (almost narrow) and my right foot is medium width (almost wide). I also purchased Columbia hiking socks which feel amazing in these boots. Quarry is a very pretty grey color with black, light grey and blue accents. Such a pretty color combination. I will be wearing these to walk our dog on the trails in our neighborhood, which I do daily and are often swampy and even flooded in some areas. I was previously using my Brooks Ghost sneakers but too often coming home with mud, wet socks and saturated shoes. We mostly do trails but also mix in some sidewalk walking, so I needed a shoe that would be good on both. I will come back to update my review should they not work well. Super excited to wear them tomorrow on our morning walk through the woods. Update: 2/20/23 I wore these yesterday for a 3 mile walk/hike through trails and on sidewalks walking a dog. They felt great while walking. I did notice that when I took them off, that my one hammer toe had redness from the top of the boots while walking but I never felt this while on the walk. A few hours later and my left knee has some strange pain while going up or down stairs. Next thing I noticed was some lower back pain and pain at the balls of both feet when I woke up this morning. Not sure that I will be wearing these often, maybe only on rainy days, but even then, I am not sure that the pain is worth it. I do have psoriatic arthritis in my knees but this pain is different, so I must have aggravated my knee somehow while wearing these hiking shoes. Debating on returning them because my brooks sneakers work great but I was specifically looking for waterproof and ankle support while on the trails. Update: 2/28/23 I have worn these again and had success, no knee or back pain afterward. Not my favorite shoe for walking our dog on sidewalks and not as comfortable as my Brooks but they are waterproof and are saving me in the trails right now.

Wow. I’m properly impressed. I’m an 8.5 in heels and a 9 in boots. But given these are deemed hiking boots I was wary that a 9 would be too tight. To my pleasant surprise, they are very adjustable with an appropriate amount of space around the toe area. Not too small not too big. Just right. I know I could wear thick socks or two pairs and still have a comfortable fit. As far as quality, out of the box they seem nice, light, not sure if light is a good thing with hiking boots, but seems good. Arch for an average foot is comfy. If you have high arches you will likely need an insert. Color combo (black with red laces) is cool.

These boots were perfect. Fit as expected. Went right to hiking 6.5 miles the first time I wore them. 1700 foot elevation gain/loss out/back trail - really tested the fit and support. Kept my feet dry. Provided great ankle support. Hiked 10.7 miles total last week. 1 blister on 1.5 mile “wimpy hike” compared to first day and I really think it was more the socks. Wear snug boot socks not just any long sock. 2 out of 3 of us had these boots. We loved them. We don’t hike enough to warrant spending $$.

I love everything about this boot....very very comfortable...and VERY durable! i really put these to the test on my first trip out. We camped and hiked for 5 days...it was very wet weather..i tromped through water and mud with these and kept my feet perfectly dry. We hiked through a forest burn area and waded through waist deep thick brush that was burnt...destroyed my jeans lol my boots were covered in scratches and soot i thought i ruined them. i wiped them off with a damp cloth and they literally looked like when i first put them on. These boots are really nice. They really grab the ground well so you don't slip, the red is very contrasting to the black, and they are comfortable. I did get a blister on my pinky toe the 1st 2 days I wore them but that was because I did not break them in slowly. I went right into two 9 hour days with them. The soul is comfortable and I like how they lace up high so they stabilize the ankle if you wanted. They are also waterproof And warm enough for the Winter but not too warm. They fit me the same as my other Columbia boots so I'd say the size is true to fit.

We bought these for a trip to Ireland in February.. it’s cold and rainy and we were planning a lot of walking. My daughter has wide feet and these were perfect for her. They kept her feet warm and was able to do hikes in a forest, out in town and through mud and water and her feet stayed dry and cozy!

I was skeptical at first and thought the boots would fit tight, but the more I wore them the more I realized how incredibly comfortable they were. I took them on a mission trip where I rarely sat. I did not tire in them. They took a beating and held up incredibly well! True to size (7.5). Slightly wide perfected with tightening the laces. Can’t wait for an excuse to wear them again.
