Love these hikers. They're so comfortable with a good arch support and just the right height. I haven't hiked in them yet, but I see no reason why they won't work out well and don't even need to be broken in first. I did order up half a size and so glad I did because I needed that extra little bit of room in the toe. I highly recommend ordering 1/2 to 1 full size larger than you normally wear. They look nice too! The only thing I wonder about is the clean-up after hiking. They are mostly the suede like material that most hikers are made of so I guess I'll just have to trust that they will clean up okay. The sole grips well and should do well climbing up hilly trails. I work at a nursery. Even in the colder months I am working outside in mud, rain, light snow. Still watering plants here and there, and on my feet all day. These are so comfortable! I had about 5 pairs I tried on and needed to choose from- ultimately it was the way these fit that helped me choose. I typically wear a size 8W, so that's what I chose here. Ive got the wide feets, so if you got them too then you know- finding a comfortable pair of shoes or boots can be a challenge that often leads one to just give up. Not in this case. These are very lightweight- I don't feel like I'm lugging around boots. I feel light on my feet but sturdy and warm. And most important, my feet don't hurt at the end of the day. So far, these have remained waterproof and that has impressed me. I've been in light rain, drenching rain, light snow , mud and wore these while watering plants in the greenhouse. They function just as they say they do. I did not have to break these in. Good to go out of the box! Color is great, looks just as advertised. Happy with the purchase and hope they last me a while. Ive only been wearing them for one month, and they still fit like the day I tried them on. I'm hoping these will continue to perform and hold up during peak season, Spring-Summer, where I'll be putting them to the real test. ... show more

Lightweight, sturdy boots, but they come up small. Tried them on in just sports socks and my toes were uncomfortably close to the boot toe. I didn’t reorder but would probably go up a full size to allow for hiking socks and insoles.

Just wore these on a challenging hike in Hawaii through mud, water, and rocks. They protected my ankles from getting twisted multiple times, remained waterproof while walking through muddy puddles, and gripped slippery rocks covered in wet mud. I bought these for a trip to Scotland so my criteria was that they needed to be waterproof and comfortable - and they were! I bought 4 other hiking shoes and non were as comfortable when I tried them on. These ones were not too bulky or heavy, they had some flexibility in the sole so they weren't too stiff, and they provided good ankle support without kicking into the back of my ankle. I bought them a few months in advance to break them in, but it turned out they never needed breaking in! I just wore them for my regular walks. The true test was to see if they would be waterproof on the trip. They held up perfectly through light rain, heavy rain, puddles, and some squishy grass. I highly recommend them. ... show more
