I have been a devout Merrell boot buyer for well over a decade. All that has ended. They first discontinued by favorite boot, replaced it with one one similar, and what used to last me two years now costs more and doesn't last 6 months. Next was a comparable pair of Wolverines, no arch support in them what so ever, and given my high arch, they went back immediately. I was never really familiar with Columbia products up until Xmas a year ago when my sister bought me one of their soft shell jackets. Loved that thing. Well the zipper failed on it this past fall and I contacted columbia. They gave me full price credit on the jacket for their website. FOund them on sale, and replaced the one jacket with two!. Given my boot situation I decided to order these from Columbia and see how their footwear stacks up since they obviously stand behind their product. Just got them today (ordered yesterday, thanks Amazon Prime). Unboxed them and everything looks great. Nice grippy material on the sole, stitching looks good, color is as expected. Not quite as much arch support as I'd hoped for, but at leas there's some. One thing I always appreciated about Merrell is I could take off a two yr old pair of their boots, put a brand new pair on, and hardly be able to tell a difference. They just fit well out of the box. Not saying that is the case with these from Columbia, but I don't think break-in will be a big deal. They are comfortable out of the box. Sizing is good, I ordered a 10.5 and they fit good. Lace hoops and catches are metal, not plastic. And they are pretty light for an ankle top hiking boot. I'll be wearing these daily for work, and while I don't abuse my boots, I am a trade worker so they'll see some beating. I'll wear them when working on the property on weekends cutting and clearing brush, bouncing around on the tractor, just general work. I'll wear them hunting in mild weather, and fishing as well. These boots will get tested for a while and I'll update as things progress. Should they fail we'll test Columbia's dedication to their product again, my last experience with them in that was great. More to come.

These were exactly what my son needed & I learned a long time ago, you get what you pay for. However in this case, I think I got a steal! I bought these for my 12 year old to go camping/hiking and he put them to the test. It rained all night so it was very wet and muddy when they went on their hike. When he came back home, they didn’t look quite as pretty, but that’s not Columbia’s fault. Underneath all the dried mud, they still looked and performed the same. My son told me his feet stayed dry even though he walked through mud puddles that everyone else was walking/jumping around (of course he walked through them. He’s 12). So even though I feel like I skimped on his sleeping bag, I was very grateful I purchased these for his feet. I was also incredibly shocked I found them on sale for 75$. One of the best parts of making this purchase is he’ll eventually grow out of them, but I highly suspect they’re durable enough that I’ll be able to keep them for myself. I’m certain they’ll need a good clean up, but I really believe they’ll hold up. :)

Ordinarily I would wait for a bit to write a review for clothes or shoes, allowing myself time to acclimate to make an unbiased observation. I wore these shoes one day and EVERYONE loves their look and they feel sooooooooooooo great on my feet. I generally wear a 9.5 wide, but I knew these being for snow (for me), that I would probably be wearing thick socks from time to time. The fit is perfect, I could wear these daily if they went with everything, and the price for Columbia's is fair. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this model. Good Luck with your purchase. Bought these boots before Glacier Nat. Park trip in May 2016. I've given regular use the past 6.5 years, and finally ordered another pair (soles were wearing out). These are super comfy, durable and handled most every mud, sand, rain and snow type environment. Cost per wear... pennies! I cleaned and waterproofed the boots a couple times, also swapped out busted laces once. *I didn't even bother looking at other brands, and just purchased a new pair TODAY. Stupid really... but parting ways with my original boots that propelled a ton of trips and adventures, will take a moment and pause before tossing to the can.

I was wondering how these would feel buying through the internet. I was surprised that they fit well out of the box. I have worn them now 4 times and they are breaking in GREAT, they have loosen and feel like a sneaker with the exception of their weight. They will keep your feet warm and dry. I have not spent hours in the weather with them as of yet, but for medium shows and California cold weather they are great. I would definitely recommend them at this point.

These are the best outdoor boots I have ever purchased. They are light, durable, warm, dry, comfortable, and affordable. Mine have been on many hikes and camping trips, as well as jaunts around urban areas in all types of weather. They are still holding up really well and have several more years of life in them. The high-traction soles are stealthy silent. I've been on my feet in these for days at a time and they are super comfortable. They are indeed waterproof unless you step in something deeper than the top of the boot, of course. I bought my original pair in 8.5 but purchased a second pair in a 9 to give more room for thicker socks when winter camping. The only downside to these is that my feet sweat in warmer weather and soak my socks.

I purchased these in October 2020, my only complaint is that the shipping took over 2 months. They're comfortable, durable, and fit great. I've worn them in the rain, in the snow, on hikes, or just walking around the city. If I needed another pair of boots I'd buy these, but I have a good feeling they'll last me plenty more years.
