I agonized about whether to buy these or spend a LOT more on other options. I'm so happy I trusted the reviews and went with Detroit Axle. This is a 6-month review. The old strut mounts were rattling over bumps and the car sat really low. Puddles would make the belt slip and squeak. It still felt smooth and nice but cornering wasn't very fun (body roll). These struts made it all better and I have no complaints about the ride height or fitment. Installation was no problem except one of the ABS wire mounts was finicky. Initially, the ride height was a little higher than I thought it should be but as you can see in the picture, the springs have settled to an even and appropriate stance. The ride was slightly bouncy (but still smooth) at first but a few hundred miles later the car feels smooth as silk and cornering is much better than before. Feels like a Lexus! Even if these only last 2 years, at the price, so worth it to make an old car feel new.

I'd never heard of Detroit Axle, but while shopping for new suspension components for my beater car (a 1996 Toyota Avalon), I found their fully-assembled struts sold in pairs for only slightly more than other brands wanted for just the strut cartridge themselves and decided to give them a try. To my absolute amazement, they look exactly like the OEM Toyota parts in every way, bolted right in effortlessly, and most importantly, ride just like OEM parts. I've already put nearly 1000 miles on them, and the value and quality continue to amaze me.

These were a perfect swap out for my OEM shocks. As stated In a lot of the other reviews, The ride height on the back is a little bit higher than stock but for me it looks completely fine and rides great. The shocks are a little stiffer than OEM but that was what I was looking for. I can take corners without the insane body roll on the car. These did take me quite a long time to install, not at the fault of these shocks, but because I drive a 22 year old car in Michigan and everything was so rusted together. The price of all 4 shocks plus sway bar links was a very good value as well, especially since it came with free prime shipping which ended up getting to me in just one day! I am very happy with the new ride of my car and would recommend these to anyone that wants to upgrade their shocks for a reasonable price.

Installed these on a 99 Camry with 220,000 miles. Put the rears in first. After I installed them I thought, "oh boy that raised the ride by about 5 inches, this is bad". Went ahead and put the front struts in as well. that leveled it out OK. The springs are about .120" thicker than stock on these struts. That said, the ride is not very much like my wife's 2017 Camry. Are these a exact replacement?.... No Will they cause premature CV joint failure by running at more of an angle?... I dint think so, the increase in height didn't seem to out of tolerance. Is the car's handling improved?.... Yup, turns crisper and doesn't bottom out anymore. Are they a decent value for $275?... Yup, compared to $800 for factory replacement parts these are the way to go on an older car. My guess is the negative perception some of the bad reviews had on here were from folks who were used to seeing their old suspension squatted, when the car was back up to stock ride height they were not used to it. I would buy these again as along as they hold up.

I installed two rear struts on my 1999 Camry. The ride is immensely better and I got a lift of about 3" at the back tires. I installed one as I received it and found out the excess length of the 3 top studs on the new strut made it quite difficult to tighten the 3 nuts back up with the 1/4" drive ratchet I used to take them off the top of the old strut. I cut 3/4" of these 3 studs off of the new strut with a Dremel cut-off wheel (so the new studs were the same length as the ones on the old strut) and that made it much easier to access them with this 1/4" drive ratchet and get them tightened up. If you do this, chase the threads that you have cut off before you poke them up through the holes, so you don't create other problems (like a seized / galled thread). If you own a 1999 Camry you probably need a pair of these great struts.

It's Saturday morning, time to install fresh struts! I just removed the existing Left Front strut and went to put in one of the "L" marked struts from Detroit Axle and... wait a second, this is MUCH longer than what I took out... wait a second, Detroit Axle sent me FOUR REAR STRUTS. So now I get to put the just-removed strut back in and put the car back together and I've wasted a Saturday morning. Ridiculous. Follow-up: I contacted Detroit Axle on Monday. I emailed pictures and followed up with a call. They WOULD NOT ship out the correct parts until they either a) first received the parts they shipped in error back or b) I PAID more money to get the correct parts shipped. I paid them the money, they got their parts back within 3 days and after a week, they still had not credited the payment back. TO TOP IT ALL OFF -- the car sits like a jacked-up '70s muscle car. See picture. The ride height in the back is 3 INCHES more than stock. Note, that is not 3 inches more than before, but 3 inches more than the original Toyota specification. Looks absurd and ridiculous. See for yourself in the included picture. Think they'll fix the problem? I doubt it. Extremely poor transaction, product, company.
