  • Effective black out feature Effective black out feature
Size: 6 Person (PFAS)
We bought this tent to replace our 15 year old Coleman Monterey Tent. We loved our Monterey but replacement parts are way expensive now. Anyway, I wanted to try the dark room technology and the extra space from the vestibule. Needless to say, we were very impressed and loved the black out feature of the tent. At first, I was skeptical because while setting it up I noticed that instead of windows the whole upper part was a mesh. I was afraid there will be no breeze to flow through the tent or that I will freeze in the morning. We did get cold but I think it was more because of our sleeping bags. I was surprised that the cold wind did not go up the fly sheet into the tent. That was nice. Set up and packing it up was easy. We had strong winds but it held up. The dark room technology was a big hit. We were able to sleep a little longer in the morning. The screened doors for the vestibule and the main living space were a big help in cooling down the tent in the late after noon heat. The vestibule was super useful when we were changing our clothes. It provided privacy and we did not have to worry about our shadow being seen while changing. It also served as storage space for our bags and extra gadgets. We can also fully stand up in both areas of the tent which was a big plus in comfort. I would recommend this buying this tent. It served the purpose we bought it for and then some. I will update this review the next time we use it. ... show more

  • Always pick Coleman!
Size: 6 Person (PFAS)
My family and I (Wife and 6 year old daughter) went camping last year and had a small "4 person" tent that was not near big enough for the 3 of us. Also, my daughter is on the spectrum and at first light, 5am, she was up and at em. We decided to upgrade size and to a "blackout" tent. I did a lot of research on these and some of them felt over priced for what they were. This has a nice little "entry" area, great for storage, putting shoes, It has a mat you can put down to leave your shoes on, and plenty of storage pockets inside. I am about 6 foot and have no issue standing up inside the tent, entry way I do have to duck a little but no issues. The quality of the tent seems super, considering we slept on gravel. It fit our Double Queen Mattress, and my kiddo's sleeping bag mattress with sleeping bag, and our suite cases, cooler and a few other things inside no issues at all. I ran our solar power through the small power hole the tent has and it worked wonderfully. Don't think twice about this. ... show more

  • Great for sleeping late! Great for sleeping late!
Size: 4 Person (PFAS Free)
Purchased this for my wife to use at music festivals. She loves the blackout feature, and how easy it is to set up by herself. It’s big enough for her tall twin mattress and other gear, and she likes that vestibule can be wide open or covered/sealed with the rainfly. Would’ve been five stars but there was a 3 pencil hole sized punctures in the rainfly when we set it up the first time, which was the day it arrived. Easy fix with tenacious tape, but just annoying that it came from the factory like that. ... show more

  • Broke the first time we used it Broke the first time we used it
Size: 6 Person (PFAS)
Setup was fine. It does take longer than 5 minutes, but my advice is to watch a how-to video online before you go out to a campsite with it. The tent was great once we got it set up. Very roomy, tons of headspace. As others have said, it's very dark, even in the middle of the day, so you'll need a lantern inside once you get it set up. The problem is the poles. The two main poles that hold up the tent each have two sections where the metal is bent at about 135 degrees. A big gust of wind came, blew the tent pretty hard, and one of these 135 degree bends turned into a 45 degree bend. We tried to bend it back out, but after that point, the metal was pretty much destroyed and wouldn't hold its shape anymore. I think it’s really a design flaw, having this hollow piece of metal as a lynchpin for the structural integrity of the tent. They need to make these angles stronger, solid metal. Now we didn't go camping directly after we bought the tent, so it's outside the 30 day return window. I also don't know if it's possible to replace the pole, since they are directly connected to the tent. If you cannot remove the pole from the tent, how are you supposed to replace the poles when they break? Seems like a major design issue to me. I've contacted Coleman, and we'll see if they give us a refund on the tent. But right now we've spent over $200 on a tent we never even got to sleep in once. Plus we're out the $75 in camp site fees, because our camping trip was ruined, and lost 7 hours of driving there and back because we didn't have a tent to sleep in. ... show more

  • Spacious and Dark - Excellent Quality
Size: 6 Person (PFAS)
I've been tent camping since 1994. Spacious and Dark - Almost too dark. You'll need a light to change clothes during the day. I especially like the vestibule. It's great for storing gear and keeping sand out of the main sleeping area. I use this tent either alone, or with my partner, sometimes out two dogs will join us. I haven't used this in rain yet so I can not testify on that aspect. Plenty of room for all of us and our gear. Overall its a great tent. ... show more

  • Spacious oh and great for migraines Spacious oh and great for migraines
Size: 4 Person (PFAS)
The pictures are taken while drying it out from a weekend of camping. I got this for just myself to have more room to move about on BSA camping trips (a leader not a scout). I did take one picture of my setup inside during the trip. I had my sleeping bag, chair and tote all in the sleeping chambers and used the vestibule just as an entrance to collect dirt and such. Plenty of space I wasn't touching any of the sides nor were any of my belongings. I put the sleeping bag in the front to show that you can fit a person there as stated just make sure it's the smallest person. I was able to hang my fan/ light from a hook in the middle. I found there to plenty of net storage space. There's a net by the door so you can tuck the door in there when you have the 2 sides open or can be used for other storage. It was an 80 degree day and it still got warm and stuffy in there but I would say it probably would have been worse without the dark room. The dark room saved me, out of no where I was hit with a migraine and I was able to lay down in the middle of the day and be surrounded in darkness. It was a blessing so if you suffer from migraines get this tent just for that! You can see from pictures how bright it was outside and how dark it was inside. All the "windows" are covered up so if you want air circulation you will have to open the porch screens and keep your door open. I found I liked it just fine with no windows open and my battery fan circulating air. My only concern is that the poles are attached on the sides and I'm worried they will eventually wear down the sides of the tent they touch after repeated use of rolling the tent back up to store. I was able to set this up by myself with no problems. ... show more

  • Not too bad!! Not too bad!!
Size: 4 Person (PFAS Free)
I'm a frequent solo camper and the setup was quite easy doing it on my own. But, it definitely took longer than 5 minutes if you're setting it up by yourself! More like 15 minutes, but still not too bad! The blackout feature of this tent is on point! Even during the daytime it is still very dark inside(I actually have to use my lantern inside the tent during the day!), which is the main reason why I purchased it- so I can sleep in longer without the disruption of the bright sun waking me up. I would say it would be comfortable for 2 people for this tent, but definitely not 4. Even for a solo camper like myself, it was the perfect size, I had my sleeping cot in there and all my gear and luggage/clothes, so all my stuff took up most of the space including the porch area. So I'd advise this 4 person tent for 2 people and under. I'm 5'1" and unfortunately, the height of this tent is shorter than me. So, I kinda have to crouch my head, but it's fine because the center height of the tent is 4'8" - so basically 5" shorter than me, which is manageable. Not sure if taller folks would be too fond of it though. I used this tent for the first time in early February and it was pretty cold at night with temperatures around 30°F to 36°F. I managed to stay pretty warm, with of course the extra help of wearing layered clothing and thick blankets. But I'm sure the material of the tent also added the extra comfort of staying warm during the evening. The durability of the poles is a miss unfortunately, that's the only negative thing I would have to say about it. During the first setup and breakdown of the tent I noticed the internal cord of the pole was nearly torn through and on the verge of breaking. But, there is a warranty on the tent, so thankfully Coleman is sending me a new replacement pole free of charge! Haven't received the new poles yet so I'm hoping they are going to be the right fit/size for this tent. I'm not sure how it'll farewell during summer time, but I'm looking forward to using it during that time! And I'll post an update for this review after I get in some more uses! ... show more
