  • Easy Set-Up Blackout Tent.
Pattern Name: Tent Style: 6-person
I literally hate tent camping. For so many reasons. One, I used to have a VW camper & set up was so easy, then when it finally died I got a great SUV but had to resort to tent camping to keep my outdoor life alive. Coming from vanlife. I just hated everything about tent camping. I made a bed in my SUV & said goodbye to tent camping. Two, last time I went camping, I slept in the SUV & my friend slept in a tent. She was hot, had to wake up at the crack dawn because of sun beating on tent. And the tent setup was so frustrating, I just about threw the thing into the fire. Well, we are back to wanting to get out in nature after the pandemic & tent camping is back on the table. So, I researched tents with the necessary criteria being: the tent has to be blackout, I have to be able to stand up in it, and the set up has to be such that I don't blow a fuse doing it. And the tent can't weigh 400lbs & be so large in the folded up state that I need a trailer to accommodate it. I ordered & sent back several tents before I got this one. And this is what I discovered through the process: one, a tent weighing upwards of 20 lbs or more is just too friggin' heavy, believe me. Unless you like shlepping the equivalent of a bag of sand in and out of your car every time you set up camp. This tent is mid teens which is probably the heaviest tent I've ever owned, but it's maneagable & the pack down size is reasonable. It fits in the trunk of my sedan with all of my other camping gear. Supposedly the set up is 5 min. I didn't believe that for a second. But it was surprisingly easy. It took 2 of us about 15 min. Pack down was about double that in trying to fit the attached poles inside the folded tent in such a way so as the whole package fits back into the provided bag. Had to fold it twice to get it to fit. Learning process, and I'm sure it'll be easier next time. Next, the blackout. It's significant. I think it's definitely going allow us to sleep past sunrise. And it's very roomy inside, I can stand up fully. I haven't camped in it yet so I don't fully know what issues might arise, if any, but I will report back. But for the absolutely necessary requirements, ease of set up, being able to stand up, and the black out technology, I'm completely pleased. ... show more

  • A good warm weather tent
Pattern Name: Tent Style: 6-person
It was easy up, but needed two people to do so. Spacious, lots of ventilation. The seam piping on the rain fly ripped while I was staking it out the first and only time I used it, though it still was able to be staked. Coleman responded well to my complaint and is replacing the whole tent. It rained pretty hard the second night but the tent stayed dry inside. Definitely not a 4 season tent.. but would be a great summer/beach tent as it has lots of ventilation and the dark tent feature worked well. Don’t even try to get it back into the carry bag - an exercise I total frustration. I ended up stuffing the whole thing, carry bag and all, into a large trash bag. Overall a decent tent for the money. ... show more

  • Good tent - does what it says.
Pattern Name: Tent Style: 6-person
Good tent - does what it says. Set up was easy. The dark feature was nice and kept out a good amount of light. We had some rain the first time we used it and the inside stayed dry as expected. Like some others have said, there seem to be pinholes where little specs of light can be seen. They're not big enough to add any brightness to the inside and with the light rain we experienced, no rain made its way through. My tent does have a stitching issue where the top storage net is supposed to hook in. The one loop was sewn into the seam of the tent, so we're unable to use the storage net. Need to look at it more, but may just sew my own loop to make it functional. ... show more

  • Spacious and you can stand up inside!
Pattern Name: Tent Style: 8-person
It is exactly what we were expecting. Very easy to assemble, spacious, you can stand inside (my husband is 6’3”) and he can stand in the middle. It’s pretty dark inside with of course some brightness on the sides.

  • Completely uneven rain guard grommets
Pattern Name: Tent Style: 6-person
We just set this tent up for the first time and its completely wonky. The grommets for the rain fly poles are 7-8 inches different om each side so it’s basically crap. BUT I then called Coleman, explained the situation and they are sending a replacement!

  • Decent tent as long as expectations are tempered.
Pattern Name: Tent Style: 6-person
Coleman states that this tent can be up in about 5 minutes. After setting it up a few times by myself and with help, it still takes closer to 15 minutes. Aside from the test run, I used this tent in this environment: 3 days: Day 1 was 75 (sunny) in the day and 50 and very humid at night. Day 2 was 60 and constantly raining and 50 at night (still raining). Day 3 was 55 and pouring rain (took down tent around noon-ish in the rain) At no time did I just use the screened top, the tent always had a rainfly attached. As a novice, it took me about 45-50 minutes to fully put up the tent, stake and guy lines. Some of the area had a rock bed (about 4 inches underneath the dirt) that made staking impossible, so I had to find a slightly different area. I also had a tarp underneath my tent. I appreciate the large door to get things in and out quickly. I had read quite a few reviews about the zipper issue, I only had this when I wasn't leading the zipper area with my fingers (easy to do and it avoided getting snagged). I was able to fit a 79"L x 55"W sleeping pad in without issue as well as all of my gear (duffel bag, and a couple of grocery bags). I will had enough room for probably another sleeping pad (single, not double). I know that it's stated that it will sleep 6, but realistically, it's 3-4 comfortably. First night, no real issues. Heavy humidity at night caused a lot of condensation on the rainfly, but nothing came in. Second day and night was raining constant and steady. The tent stayed mostly dry (just a little water came in due to the opening and closing of the door. Third day was pouring hard, still no water coming in, but here's where the issues come in. Unless you have a lot of time or are a master folder, the tent will not fit in the bag. I was able to get the rainfly and all the stakes back into the provided bag. I will have to purchase a bigger bag to store the tent. It's even worse when you are trying to take down a tent quickly in pouring rain. I consider that a real-world test and if I had the tent bag that is coming in, I would not have the issues I had taking it down. In summary - The good - Fairly easy to set up (15 minutes with 2-3 people; 30 minutes to an hour depending on skill level. All the needed poles are attached to the tent itself. The instructions are sewn into the tent bag. Stayed watertight over multiple days. I'm 5'11" and was able to stand without bending at all in the center of the tent. Dark Room technology worked pretty good. The not-so-good The tent won't fit in the bag unless you are a master folder or have a lot of experience (and time). If you are in a hurry, it's probably better off to have a bigger bag. It's not suitable for 6 people comfortably (key word being comfortable) Some of the poles were rusty right out of the package (I will follow up with Coleman on why). Update 10/4 Coleman never got back with me when I submitted an email complete with pictures. Knocked a star off for that. I've always heard that customer support was decent, but in my case, it was not. ... show more
