Last year I decided I wanted to start camping. I had not been camping since I was a teen w/my parents decades ago. I wanted to get into the hobby cheap, but not so cheap as to ruin the experience. Just to see if I really would enjoy it or if the nostalgia would wear off fast. I used this tent several times this year and don't regret it one bit. In the pros column: * Plenty of space for a single person. I was able to fit a camping cot, my camping chair, and a 25 gallon bin (as a nightstand) in the tent with enough room to move around. It was snug, but comfortable. * The tent held up to moderate rain on two of my trips - no water got inside. Though there was little wind to drive the rain. * The mostly netting body with the rain fly providing privacy meant that the tent remained relatively cool. But it was still comfortable down into the mid-30s F. And the cons: * The provided stakes were not of the best quality and were a challenge to use in the very rocky sites I went to in the West. * While the tent could remain cool, in direct sunlight on a desert day, it would not. The lone window on the front door meant there was little chance of a cross breeze helping matters much. * Setting up as a solo camper did take some time - definitely not the 5 minutes as advertised. Closer to 15 minutes. * The domed walls do cut down on the usable floor space inside the tent when not sleeping/resting directly on the ground. * Trying to get the tent to fit into the original, machine packed bag, is an exercise in futility. I simply bought a 25 gal. tote to carry the tent, rain fly and ground tarp in. Honestly, for a year's worth of usage to see if I really was going to keep camping, this was the ideal tent. A lot of the negatives on the list are more due to the style of camping I intended to use vs. the style of camping the tent targets. This is more of a heavier, multi-person, backpacking tent whereas I set out to car-camp as a solo person. I have since replaced this tent with a far more expensive, far heavier, and roomier tent for my 2nd season. But this tent fulfilled it's purpose. It let me know camping is something I am enjoying for the hobby it is, and not the nostalgia of years past. ... show more

I spent several days considering several options before I settled on this one, and I'm completely pleased. I wanted something conveniently small, but I really value the extra height in this tent compared to some of the others I had considered. I'm also pleased with the length; I'm 5'11" and I sleep quite comfortably in this tent. As for overall size, it's cozy for just me, but I wouldn't feel crowded if I had another person with me.     • Easy to assemble and transport, spacious interior

Very easy to assemble as the rods come attached to the tent on the corners, and each segment is connected by springy cord which makes the final poles easy to assemble. The case also comes with an insert to remind you how to assemble it, which I only needed to reference for the rain cover. However, once you've assembled the rain cover once it's very easy to repeat, because everything you need is already attached to the cover, and it is stabilized by clipping on hooks already attached to the tent corners. It even comes with a "patio" - a small piece of tent fabric which you place outside the entrance to avoid tracking in dirt/rocks. The interior is vertically spacious, and the floor fits a queen-sized mattress (or two individual camping pads). The interior also has a hook at the top for clipping a hanging light, and has several pouches around the sides off the ground for holding various items. I'm very happy with this tent, especially for the very reasonable price. It's probably too large and heavy for a backpacking tent, but it's excellent for car camping, and the packed size is actually quite small and easy to pack into a trunk. ... show more

I bought this tent so my teens could use our older tent of the same name & we adults could have the darker (hoping more black out) It wasn't really that darkening, but I suppose it was a bit more shaded. This tent was made with plastic loops & nylon vs metal...not sure of the longevity of those. The footprint took some getting used to as it is longer side to side than front to back....we like our feet facing the opening, so that made less room at the head/foot area. But not a big con. There are no windows except the door, but if you tether the rain fly tauntly, you can peek through the screened top/sides some. Another thing that I wanted to mention is the bottom of the tent where it zips to the door opening is pretty tall (tub floor is a great defining word!) ... probably better protection if it were to rain... but I kept tripping on the darn thing every time I would go in & out of the tent. It was a good 5-6" tall. This tent does have great head room...& not just in the center of the tent. That is the main reason we like this tent. ... show more

    • Warm season - not 3 season -- 3 sides are mesh from about 2 ft up.

The good: kept us dry in a light rain (not sideways or strong). Very fast setup as others mentioned. Very stable when set up correctly. The bad, the temps dropped into the 40s (or perhaps a bit below), and we were very cold. This tent in my opinion is warm or mild weather only, not cold below 50. Breeze will come in the sides and warmth will not remain due to the heavy use of mesh. The other bad is that the tent is very tightly wrapped up on delivery in the case, the case is not very strong, and it is extremely hard to get the tent back into the case. I can see how the tiny case benefits the manufacturer in China by limiting the space needed in shipping containers. I don't think the customer experience is a part of that calculation, and a new case is needed if the tent is kept. Due to the cold weather issue, I wrestled a long time with the case and submitted a return. In short, if you car camp and don't need a lot of space (2 adults max IMO), not much standing room or storage space, camp in weather above 50, and plan to use an old duffle bag for storage, this may be the tent for you. ... show more
