  • Excelente inversion

  • Nice Crown, Topping Off a Good Quality Tent
This fly is good, and fits the 14x10 ft tent. Be careful, there is also one for the 14x8 ft tent, and other reviewers have experienced confusion. This Coleman® tent is of good quality, doesn't feel paper-thin like many of the cheaper tents (and their flies) do. It provides shade and a level of cooling, by leaving space between the shade of the fly and the tent's roof. Seams are nice. Fit is excellent, and it looks natural on top of the tent for which it was designed. Coleman's integrated ropes for tie-downs include a small plastic tension adjuster making tightening the rope a SNAP, and for novices it would be easy to figure out which loop to pull to get it to stay. The included stakes seem flimsy (part of the reason for no 5th star) and if not carefully inserted into the ground will be easily bent. However, they ARE very easy to slip into all but the hardest of soils without any tools, and if inserted at the proper angle, they hold the lines well, even in decent wind. (Fortunately I have yet to have it up during HIGH wind or storms.) I expect that this fly also will protect the tent proper from the UV degradation that it would otherwise experience from being exposed to the sun without it. I plan on ordering a second one, for when this one inevitably wears out. I haven't had it out in the rain yet, but as soon as I do I will let you know how it turned out. (If I get busy and don't get back for a while, assume that "no news is good news.") I will SURELY be on here griping if it doesn't perform well! ;) ... show more

  • Fits well.
Fits perfectly. Gives you a few inches of air space to help keep the tent cooler, and allows you to open the windows a few inches during a storm. It goes on easy with a velcro strap around the legs (behind the little black guyline attachment points you see in the picture), and a plastic clip at the bottom of each "point" that clips onto the leg. I have two problems with it... 1. The bottom straps have a plastic C-shaped clip that clips onto the legs of the tent. They clip on right over top of the button that holds the legs up. I may try re-engineering them with paracord to fasten to the piece at the very bottom of the leg. (Where you peg it to the ground.) I don't like the position of the clips, and I don't trust plastic pieces for long-term durability. 2. With the fly installed, the guylines are attached to the fly instead of the tent. The fly is attached to the tent with little velcro straps. (And the above-mentioned clips - which really wouldn't take any of the force here.) I'm just not entirely convinced that this is a sturdy option should we be caught in windy conditions. I'm going to have to give this some thought to come up with a workaround. I would like the force of the guylines transferred to the original guyline mounting points on the tent. I keep the fly on my tent when in storage. I recommend keeping it fastened to the middle (non-extending) legs, but unfastening the end (extending) legs for storage. Having it fastened makes it difficult to extend the legs. However, leaving it attached to the middle legs makes it easy to get it back into position without requiring an additional person to help. ... show more

  • Finnaly got one
This fit my tent perfectly. Just make sure you order the right one because their are different sizes that look the same. I had to look at the tag on my tent and get the product number just to verify that it was the right match. One person can put this on but it is a lot easier with two people. The straps are good quality and I feel this is going to last the life of the tent if not longer. I ditched the little bag it came with because If I fold the tent tight enough this fits along side the tent in the original tent bag. Rant: I would have liked this fly to have been included with the original tent. I realize the tent is ready for rain without the fly and i've used the tent without the fly on a couple of occasions in moderate rain and snow without any problems but what I realized after using the tent since 2009 is that the top of the tent is exposed to a lot of natural elements that over time will age and weather the top of the tent. I noticed even if i cleaned the top after every camping trip the tree sap, bird poop, embedded dirt and grim would not come completely off plus the exposure to sun that has faded the top. If i really wanted to get all that stuff completely off it would require soap and scrubbing which in turn will scrub off any water proofing chemicals and also wear down the material. I like the rainfly because its a added layer of protection from all the elements that find its way on top of your tent after a trip of camping. especially if your in the forest under pine trees that drip a lot of sap or at the beach where it gets baked in the sun. ... show more

  • You can set this large tent up by yourself
I have owned a lot of tents in my life with over 20 years of camping. This is buy far one of the best for the price and I can set it up myself. It actually blew over once night at the lake while sitting empty and the next morning it was upside down. I figured I had ruined it after only one month consistent use. But once I got it home and set it back up it was fine. A couple of leaks, but that is without the fly on. It has been set up in my backyard for 3 months now, and is going strong. Back to my first use: camping for 3 weeks can put strain on any tent. I did have issues with the zippers at time, having to hold another part of the tent in order to easily open the zipper. This could be impacted by lack of sleep/alcohol, but it sure does piss me off when I can get in or out fast enough! Anyway, This tent stood up to some of the worst storms I have ever experienced while camping. Good thing I had it weighted down with s***, I didn't blow away, but I tell you the whole thing was shaking and rolling, it felt like I was inside a drum the storm was so bad. the next day, several other tents were damaged during the storm but not mine. This happened 3 times during that outing and my stuff was dry the whole time. I did put the rain fly on after the first storm! ... show more
