  • Must-Have Travel Companion
If you do seasonal work, are in the military, or are in college this is a must have for a dorm style room. Pair it with a power strip, and you'll always have a place near your bed to charge your phone. Unless you're living in a tent with no electricity. Then it becomes a 12ft clothes line. Oh, and at the airport you might be able to snag an outlet near seating. ... show more

  • Should be a 'left' and a 'right' choices
I really like these because they hug the wall and are long enough to stretch out from behind big furniture, like a bed or sofa. However, two of these cannot be neatly or conveniently plugged into the same power source because they can only plug in one way. In other words, if your plug is behind your headboard and you need to have two extension cords to go to bedside tables on either side of your bed, it isn't going to be as neat to use two of these to do so. It can be done, just not as neatly as I'd like - and hugging the wall will not be as simple to do. If they had choices for which way the cord extended - left or right - when it's plugged in, that would make them perfect. ... show more

  • All That You Could Ask for In an Extension Cord
The Coleman Cable 035188801 Flatplug 12-Feet Thin Profile Extension Cord, 3-Prong, White far exceeded my expectations. I was simply looking for a low-profile cord to use in the house, but I got an extra bonus. I wanted to plug into an outlet behind my bookcases. The cord did that, but what I couldn't tell from the poorly written product explanation was that the plug is also slightly tilted to the left. If you look closely at the prongs in the second manufacturer's photo you will see that they don't line up with the cord itself. What does this mean? The cord on low profile extension cords usually blocks the bottom socket, or you have to plug the extension cord into the bottom one in order to leave the top one free, but with this one, it doesn't matter whether you use this plug in the top or bottom, because the cord will not get in the way. This made a huge difference for me, because one of the sockets in my apartment is tied to the light switch in the wall, and the other one is a regular socket, so I needed that flexibility. Thanks Coleman, for putting that little bit of extra ingenuity into the product! ... show more

  • Hugs the wall to the RIGHT of outlet
For those of you still wondering, on the 12 ft version bought in Aug 2014, the cord goes to the right. The key detail missing from most reviews is that this is the case when the GROUND (third prong) IS POINTING DOWN. On some outlets, the ground prong points up, which would case the cord to hug the wall up and the left, rather than down and to the right. Also, the cord is flat and little wider than a typical appliance cord, but still fits nicely within a standard cord floor concealer from the hardware store. Other than that, the cord works as expected--transmits power like a champ to all three grounded outlets (2 on one side of the cord end, and 1 on the opposite). ... show more

  • Well made and handy
Extension cords are a hard thing to review but here goes: Nicely made, all connections are tight, cable insulation is smooth and there are no cracks or obvious gaps at the join to the plug on either end. Wires themselves have a decided attitude and this cord is not easy to get to lie flat and straight (I have a short run out int he open and had to use gaffer tape to keep it from wanting to loop up and make a trip hazard. I prefer the flat wall plugs like this as it is easy to put them behind furntiure or under a desk where nothing sticks out to get bumped or kicked. The only improvement I'd make is to rotate the plugs 90 degrees so things with power "warts" can more easily fit. ... show more

  • Surprisingly thick
I ordered this product, a Flatplug, and a Slimline plug to see which I liked best. This was the thickest of all of them, at .61". The Flatplug was only .44" and has the wire handle to boot. The other end (the 3-outlet-end) is nearly identical on both - the Coleman (this one) being molded from hard rubber is heavier and felt more durable, and has the flexible protection where the cord joins the housing. It was also slightly more compact than the hard-plastic Flatplug counterpart. Verdict: if you need the plug to be as thin as possible (which is kinda the point of these products), definitely go with the Flatplug. If you want to save a buck or need the extra length, go with the Coleman. The best of both worlds would be the Flatplug plug and the Coleman outlets. ... show more

  • Handy (12-feet) extension cord to have inside the house (or garage)
These are extension cords. If you need 12 feet like I did, these are perfect. The only thing is that these are designed only for indoors because the wires aren't all that robust, but the plug is flat so it's nice if you need that extra space savings on the wall. Not much to say other than, it's nice that it has 3 receptacles and each one is 3-prong so that's handy. This is better and generally more useful than the 2-prong kinds (duh!). :) ... show more
