🚀 Abunda's Overview

This is our summary and key points to consider based on customer reviews.

The Coleman Cabin Tent is a spacious, easy-to-set-up, and comfortable camping tent praised primarily for its roominess, ventilation, and 'porch' feature. With its ability to stand firm during strong monsoons and keep the interiors dry, it has scored high among campers. However, it does require additional investments in terms of a longer carry bag and durable stakes. It is cooler than average tents and might require floor insulation. There are reports of missing loops and issues with leakage that can potentially be fixed with seam sealers.

Pros

  • 🏕 Spacious interiors with a partition option for privacy
  • ⛺ Easy to assemble even for a single person
  • đź’¦ Holds up well against strong rain and winds
  • 🌞 Good ventilation with large windows

Cons

  • đź‘ś Requires a longer replacement carry bag
  • đź“Ś Need to purchase durable stakes separately
  • 🌬 Colder than average tents
  • đź’§ Potential problems with leakage at the center edge
  • 🔵 Missing loops and poorly constructed tie-backs

Should I Buy It?

If you are an avid camper and don't mind investing a little extra on items like stakes, a carry bag and weatherproofing treatments, this tent offers good value for money with its spaciousness, resilience against bad weather, and ventilation. However, it's essential to note its temperature and potential leakage issues.

  • Huge tent with big windows, excellent ventilation and a weatherproof screenroom!
Style: 6-person Enclosed Porch
This review is for the six person tent with the weatherproof screen room. Summary Lots of floorspace, huge windows, great ventilation, and a weatherproof screen room are some of the wonderful features that makes this tent an obvious choice for warm weather "glamping" in rainy areas. Beware that the abundance of mesh makes this tent a poor choice for cold weather camping, and the heavy weight (30+lbs) is not ideal if you plan on hiking to your camping spot. Tent Dimensions - The bedroom is 9ft long x 10ft wide - The screen room is 4ft long x 10ft wide - The vestibule extends out an additional 3ft - The tent stands at 6ft 4in high at the tallest point - Without the rainfly (and therefore without the vestibule), the total dimensions are 13ft long x 10ft wide - With the rainfly (including the vestibule), the total dimensions are 16ft long x 10ft wide Pros - Phenomenal ventilation, even with the rainfly on - Extremely spacious interior: can (barely) fit 2 queen-sized air mattresses side-by-side - Huge, beautiful windows - The screen room is amazing! Great place to setup some chairs for bug-free lounging. The screen room also helps keep mud out of the bedroom - Multiple storage pouches - Relatively easy to setup (appx 15 minutes with 2 people) - Has port for extension cord. The port has a zipper to keep out bugs - Can stand up inside the tent (6ft 4in tall in center) - Vestibule area in the front of the tent is convenient for stowing gear out of the rain - Floor vent helps with air ventilation when the windows must be zipped up during rain Cons - Very heavy (30+ lbs) - No good place to hang a tent light (the ceiling is entirely mesh) - Storage pouches are high on the walls, which means you must stand up to access the contents - The screen room DOES protect against rain but DOES NOT protect against flooding ground water. The screen room only has tub floors on 3 sides... the front is mesh only. So flooding water could pour in from the front. However, part of the floor in the screen room is mesh, which helps to drain the water. Please note that this issue would only arise in a flood, not a simple rainfall - Screen room doesn't completely zip up, there is a small gap between the zippers which lets bugs inside - Coleman could've picked better colors. This thing looks like it's from the 90s - The rainfly only has partial coverage, which isn't ideal for camping in heavy rainfall. The windows must be zipped up when it's raining, which will contribute to heat buildup inside - Lots of mesh = great ventilation for warm nights... but contributes to poor insulation for cold weather camping. This tent is built for 2 seasons (late spring, summer, early fall) - Expensive - Stakes aren't heavy duty. May need to replace after several uses ... show more

  • Roomy and you don’t have to crawl in and out.
Style: 6-person Porch
We have had this tent for a year now. Three different trips, and we are pleased with our purchase. I had a budget, my husband is 6’4”, and we wanted something he could stand up in. Naturally, that limited our choices. I hesitated buying a Coleman tent because my past perceptions have been that they are kind of cheap feeling and wouldn’t hold up. So far so good! And very nice tent for the price of a night in a hotel room. Things we love: 1. it’s a good warm weather tent with lots of bug proof, mesh. 2. Love, love the covered screen porch. It makes a nice landing spot for shoes and it’s big enough for a couple of camp chairs if it’s buggy, or even to sit in while you put on your shoes. 3. We are getting older and after knee surgery, my knees are tired of crawling in and out of a tent. The tent is tall, but so is the door. 4. It’s big enough for a full sized queen mattress, all our junk at our fingertips, a chair inside, and a big bed for the Great Dane who camps with us without feeling crowded. 5. Once you get the hang of it, it goes up pretty quickly. And once staked out it doesn’t feel like it’s going anywhere in windy weather. 6. The windows zip and unzip on the inside, which seems like a no-brainer, but apparently isn’t. Quirky things, not necessarily cons, but to be aware. 1. I wish the rain fly had more coverage, it hasn’t leaked yet, but we haven’t had a really heavy storm in it yet, so who knows 2. It goes together counterintuitively to any tent rain fly I’ve ever put up, so a bit confusing at first. We keep thinking the Coleman label should be in the front, but it’s not. 3. I wish it had a central light hook, but the pockets work ok for that. And with the barrel design it wouldn’t work, anyway. 4. The floor seems a bit thin, so I feel like a heavy duty tarp is essential if it’s rocky or you are in the mountains. 5. This is definitely not a cold weather tent. All that mesh and the tall ceiling will not keep you warm. ... show more

  • Great buy & EASY set-up!
Style: 6-person Enclosed Porch
This tent has been a dream! We bought the tent based on the size and how it has its own screened in porch. This feature is amazing as it can store totes, shoes and coolers out of the weather. This tent also is incredibly easy to put up. I have saw mixed reviews, but once you figure it out, it is so easy. We can have this tent set up in 5 minutes. There are four bundles of tent poles. They are labeled by colors on the tent poles and the outer part of where to insert the poles. This tent also survived a wind gust storm that came our way. There was NO water in our tent after the storm either. The nice feature about the tent is that it does have an open top which is perfect when you have perfect weather, but if not you will need the rainfly. The reason I gave it 4 stars is that one of the back gray poles bent a little and the stakes are not very durable. I am not sure if the pole was damaged by us as users or if in the wind storm it damaged. Overall, very nice tent and I would buy it again because it is so easy to set up and take down. ... show more
