This book shelf is perfect for us. Exactly what we were looking for. We wanted something that looked great but with medium quality to keep the cost down. This is it. It looks freaking awesome...just like the picture. It has 4 spacious drawers that work really well. I did the assembly by myself and it wasn't too bad, but I'm an engineer and I'm good at reading assembly diagrams and I'm technically proficient. I can see my wife having a hard time with the assembly. Just pay attention and take your time and get a helper. Like some people have said in other reviews, take everything out and lay it in the floor and organize it and then follow instructions step by step, do not try to assemble this without following instructions. Some people said that the drawers do not fit well...That is because it has a particular order so that they can create the really nice assymetrical look shown in the pictures...if you follow the instruction it will work out. The quality like I said before is medium, if you have kids or pets keep them off this furniture if you hit it it will chip...if you take good care of it, it should last you long enough. People want a piece of furniture for less than $200 and they want it made from Mahogany!!! Come on people! ... show more

    • Drawers Do Not Fit
This ladder bookcase comes with an overwhelming number of pieces that are poorly marked. It is hard to distinguish the letters, for example, an "R" from a "P" or and "L" from an "I" because the red mark is so light it is barely visible. That said, my husband and I sorted all of the pieces. He put the entire bookcase together. But the last drawer was not cut properly and did not fit. To solve the problem, we had to have the base of the drawer cut to the proper dimension. The drawer now fits. But, now that all four drawers are in, it is clear that they are not even. For all of the time and effort we wasted on this bookcase, I could have gone to furniture store and purchased an expensive bookcase and had it delivered. Very disappointed. ... show more

    • If you have defective parts, good luck.
When I attempted assembly of this product, all seemed well. The product seemed sturdy and well-made. It looked like it would take the 2+ hours quoted by other reviewers, which isn't too much of an issue. However, when I attempted to put together one of the drawers, I found the screw holes and locking screw openings were completely missing from one of the boards, making it impossible to assemble. I tried contacting the manufacturer (Coaster Fine Furniture) for a replacement part. It was a small board and seemed a trivial enough item to replace. However, their main customer support line refused to honor the warranty, instead shuffling me off to contact a different email address to handle the claim. After about four weeks, several call attempts for an update, and multiple unanswered emails later, I gave up and returned through Amazon, who graciously arranged a pickup with a shipping partner that could take the half-assembled unit back. We're nearly six weeks in now, and I am still waiting for that email back to help replace the parts. I doubt I'll hear back, but it will be comically entertaining if I do when Amazon already has the remnants of my attempt in their possession. ... show more

    • Good shelves, but....
This is the fourth Coaster piece I've bought for my office, so I knew what to expect when it came to the assembly. They made this one slightly easier by having the tracking for the drawers already screwed on to the sections, which I thought was a good idea. However, after getting the whole thing put together, when I went to put the drawers in, I found that the top left drawer will not sit flush, and sticks out slightly from the other drawers. It must have been a fault at the factory, and there isn't anything I can do about it, as the tracks are set, so I'll have to live with it. And yes, I've swapped all the drawers around, but they're now in the configuration they're supposed to be in as per the instructions, and they just don't fit exactly as they should. It's not a major problem, and no pieces were missing or broken, which is always a relief when flat pack furniture gets shipped. No one will notice the drawer not sitting right but me, unless I point it out to anyone who visits. Had all the drawers fit together properly, I would have given five stars, as the piece is heavy and sturdy, looks good, and matches the rest of my office furniture. ... show more

Great design. Bookshelf leans against wall and takes up very little space. There four drawers on the bottom for your storage needs. They are a little smaller than I would like. The cappuccino color is great. Looks high end. Height is just slightly under 6 feet. Shorter than I want. Overall, the bookshelf is a little smaller than in the picture. Parts are well labeled and installed without difficulty. Took me about 2 hours. I gave it three stars due to the wood quality. They are lower end particle board that can be easily chipped. Quality overall is medium to low. Certainly similar to other China made products. Overall great design, a little small, and medium quality. Good product at a great price. ... show more

When the box came, we thought for sure there would be messed up wood pieces, but everything was intact as it is well boxed. The assembly was super easy, just a bit time consuming as is most furniture you have to put together. Took my husband and I about 2 hours. The drawers have a left and right side. You’ll know this because they won’t close unless they are put in correctly. The piece when finished is beautiful and just what we were looking for in the empty space we had next to our fireplace. The four drawers are such an added bonus. I wouldn’t hesitate buying again one if I wanted another one. ... show more

I took a while to assemble it because the instructions only had pictures which were a little confusing and the screws were packaged out of sequence, other than that it looks very sturdy and very nice. I recommend labeling the parts and nails better and for the manufacturer to write better detailed instructions. The two side pieces were a bit 100% fitted either but everything else seemed to fit perfectly which was surprising for the fake wood build yourself model. I’d buy something similar again. I just wish that the price would drop because it’s slot of building for yourself. ... show more
