I have been using smoker chips for quite awhile now and wanted to get in a fresh set and update my torch. I chose this particular one because the skull is just way too awesome to pass up especially with the Halloween season upon is. It is made from a porcelain/ clay like composite that is safe for use during its intended purpose. The torch itself is designed with ergonomics in mind and boasts a dual flame port. That too is also got some great aesthetics on it. You just need to provide your own butane but filling the torch was a simple process. The chips themselves are all packed nicely and are fresh. I did a ton of research before purchasing this smoker. I love a good smoked old fashioned, and considered the smokers with the big domes and smoking guns etc. I figured for the price this smoker was a good way to get into smoking drinks. We don't have a ton of room in the bar so the size was certainly a consideration. The clay material the smoker is made of was also a consideration because I saw a lot of other smokers that were made of wood would burn up over time during use. I like that this ones comes with some starter chips so you can experiment with smoke flavors and bourbon combinations. If you smoke a few drinks in a row, the smoker will become warm, but not too hot to hold. I load the reservoir about halfway up and light it up, then let it sit for a minute. If you want less smoke flavor put the drink in the glass then smoke, if you want a more robust smoke flavor then smoke the glass before you put the drink in. The Skill Cocktail Smoking Kit was amazing. I bought it for my husband’s birthday. He absolutely loved it and so did everyone at the party! He loves to make new drinks and experiment a little, so this was a great gift. The black skull looks better in person than I had anticipated from the ad. The instructions are ok, just wish it indicated how many wood chips to put in. But that’s the fun of experimenting and finding that smoke flavor you want. Again, great item. This little smoker is quite the conversation piece around the bar. It was priced really well compared to the competition and I don't see how the more expensive versions could be a better product. It smokes up the glass perfectly and when you present it to the recipient they think it's super cool as well. The smoking skull looks menacing and adds a perfect touch to your cocktail.
