The idea of serving a smoking cocktail seems like a fad to me, but when I brought this kit to my super bowl party, there were nothing but WOWS from the guys. Even the kids wanted a smoking Shirley Temple. So, be it a passing fad or not, it was a big hit. The operation is simple but we often had to relight the chips to get enough smoke going. I guess this is just an issue of experience. The wooden components got singed after a few applications but it didn't seem to harm anything. There is no denying the sensual aroma of smoking wood, but a word of warning, do not inhale the smoke directly. It is a harsh experience. Instead, let it subside, and take it in peripherally. You'll enjoy the experience better. My only complaint is that I found the operation of the torch stiff and difficult to operate with my fingers. Seemed like too much pressure was needed to unlock it, change the flame setting, or light it. ... show more

I have never tried a smoked cocktail before and i have been using this kit to try it out. What is nice is the variety of wood chips included so you can try a find what flavor works best for you with the cocktails you make. One gripe I have with this is that at least with the one I got is when filling the blowtorch it leaks a lot as you filling it. ... show more

I ordered this for one of my daughter's who is a mixologist at a distillery. They have a bar area where they serve their specialty cocktails made with their alcohol that they make. Occasionally, they have contests for their employees to create a cocktail. The winner gets to have their cocktail featured on their menu. Pretty cool huh? My daughter likes to experiment and create cocktails in hopes of having her creation be added to the menu. She was impressed with this little kit. She thought it was a cool gift. It came in a nice box and is presented very well. There is a nice large card inside that has the instructions on the front and back and it seems pretty simple to use . The wood chimney feels like a good quality wood, not cheap feeling. Also included is a small stainless steel spoon for adding chips and a cleaning brush for cleaning the two screens that comes with it to hold wood chips in the wood chimney. There are six different varieties of flavored wood chips in small tins. The lids are screw top style lids and not lift off to keep from flinging wood chips all over the place when opening. Last but not least, a really cool looking torch that is heavy duty and fits nicely in your hand. The color is a classic gun metal color and you fill it with butane. The torch could be used for toasting marshmallows, Crème Brule or whatever else you want. I opened one of the cans of wood chips to smell them but they didn't smell like anything. Perhaps the aroma isn't released until you fire it up. Since this was a gift for my daughter I will let her experiment and take videos of her smoking her choice of beverage. I will update with additional pictures or videos once she's had a chance to try it out. So far she is impressed with this and thought it would be a great gift for someone who likes their choice of alcohol smoked. Great gift for the price! ... show more

I had been looking at cocktail smokers for a while and decided to give this one a try. The thing that caught my eye, and the primary reason I chose this one over the others, is that it came with 6 different wood chips. Almost all the others only have 4. The box it came in also works great as a storage box, which is really nice. Filling the torch is easy, and it is a simple switch to lock and unlock it. It has a rolling flame adjuster, though I found if you set it about 2/3 of the way up, that is all you should need. It also came with 2 baskets for the smoker body that sits over the glass. With the chips, I found that 1 spoon full (in the kit) of wood chips is all you need. The little brush that came with it is made to clean the smoke flow holes in the bottom. The chip cans have screw tops, which makes opening and closing them really easy. I am looking forward to getting a lot of use out of this as I develop a smoked drink menu for a restaurant concept that I am working on. It is a solid kit. ... show more

Was extremely excited to get this from my wife. My best friend makes smoked drinks and there is just something different about it. Maybe it’s just a novelty or looks cool but sometimes that’s a good enough reason and in this case, it was.
