Description

COBRA GRIPS A BETTER CHOICE THAN LIFTING STRAPS, GLOVES, WRIST SUPPORTS AND HOOKS Here at Cobra Grips, we’re not just a product. We’re real people who want to see you increase your performance at the gym without causing pain or damage to your body. Why do we care so much? Let’s just say that we’ve been in your gym shoes. We’ve had callused palms, blistered fingers and sore wrists after working out. We’ve felt the frustration of being in a great routine and being forced to stop because we injured ourselves. So in 2009 we finally said, “Enough is enough!” That year, we set out on a journey to fix all of these problems for weightlifters worldwide. Cobra Grips seamlessly take the place of lifting straps, gloves, wrist supports and hooks. Unlike lifting straps which put pressure on your wrists, Cobra Grips allow the weight you’re lifting to rest on the base of your hand – not on your wrist. Cobra Grips are thicker and more flexible than lifting straps, and with an extra-wide 2-inch Velcro strap, they give your wrists maximum stability. Wearing conventional straps can cause nerve damage, carpel tunnel issues and vestibular damage. On the other hand, our lifting grip allows you to do any pushing or pulling exercise with complete control. Cobra Grips also give you the same amount of protection as wearing gloves. But unlike gloves, Cobra Grips are cooler, as your hands are not completely covered. They also allow you to spin them around so you never have to remove them to grab a drink or perform other non-workout related functions in the gym. We know that chaffing and slips can wreak havoc on your hands. With an ergonomically engineered and streamlined no-slip design, Cobra Grips provide you with that extra padding needed to protect your palms and tighten your grip. When you’re ready to let go of the bar, simply open up your hand and let go. This is a great safety feature that you could never have with hooks or straps. Why choose Cobra Grips Cobra Grips are manufactured with high-caliber materials that deliver tangible benefits in the gym. Their wrist cuff elasticity for grip comfort and ease of movement, and their durability for long-lasting use and function are traits you won’t find in any other lifting grips. Read about the science behind Cora Grips right here. Your hand grip is comprised of ten small muscles, three of which are located in your forearm and wrist and seven of which are located in your hand. The three muscles located in your forearms are the Flexor Pollicis Longus, Flexor Digitorum Superficialis and Flexor Digitorum Profundus. The seven muscles in your hands are the Opponens Digiti Minimi, Opponens Pollicis, Flexor Digiti Minimi Brevis, Flexor Pollicis Brevis, Adductor Pollicis, First Dorsal Interossei and Palmar Interossei. Together, all of these muscles allow you to form a grip and carry weight. While some weightlifters try to strengthen these grip muscles in order to improve their workouts, they often find themselves skimping on working out their other muscles in order to do so. They become so focused on their grip, that they overlook much larger muscles like the arms, chest and back. The best solution to this problem is using Cobra Grips to achieve an optimum grip. Cobra Grips protect and support your grip so you can focus on your workouts. HOW TO PERFORM A PULLING EXERCISE WITH COBRA GRIPS Whether you’re performing chin-ups, shrugs, dead lifts or other pulling movements, Cobra Grips provide the ultimate support. When you’re ready to begin the pulling exercise, simply place the Cobra Grip in front of your palm while positioning the weightlifting bar between your palm and the gripping area. Use the tips of your fingers inside the Cobra Grip to fold the grip over the bar, so that the grip rests between the bar and the palm of your hand. Grip the bar as you would without Cobra Grips on. It’s as easy as that! Cobra Grips are designed to secure your wrists while holding a weight bar. They should not cause you any pain. Make sure that they fit securely and not tightly. If you need to adjust them, just loosen the wrist strap and let the gripping section extend to your fingertips. SIZE AND STYLE MAKES A DIFFERENCE What’s the difference between Cobra Grips and conventional straps? There’s many differences. Cobra Grips allow the weight you’re lifting to rest on the base of your hand – not on your wrist. On the other hand, conventional straps put pressure on your wrists. This can cause nerve damage, carpel tunnel issues and vestibular damage. Our patented lifting grip allows you to do any pushing or pulling exercise with complete control. How are Cobra Grips used? Cobra Grips can be used for any type of pushing or pulling exercises. When you’re doing a pushing exercise, like a bench press, the grip lays against your palm and protects your hand from the weightlifting bar. You’ll never have to worry about blisters or calluses again! When you’re performing a pulling exercise such as a dead lift or chin-up, you’ll notice that Cobra Grips give you excellent grip strength and totally eliminate grip fatigue. Which Cobra Grips should I buy? Consider your size and the types of workouts you do when purchasing your Cobra Grips. Our Cobra Grips PRO lifting grips are exclusively designed to prevent weightlifting injuries and provide maximum stability for your wrist. Female athletes love our Cobra Grips FIT weightlifting grips. Designed with a smaller wrist circumference than our PRO version, they’re perfect for female hands and can fit wrists up to 5.25”.

  • Not quite One Size Fits All, but Still the Best
Color: FIT Brown Leather
Background: I'm not a big guy and my wrists are only about 7.5". This has always been a challenge for me when I am lifting heavy. Now that I'm in my 40's it has been even more of a struggle. Most recently I was using gym paws, which offered a great grip and athletic tape to support my wrists. I have tried what I believe are every combination, none of which I have ever really been happy with. Then I found the Cobra Grips. They appeared to be the unique combination that I was looking for. My first question was, is the PRO really right for me? I looked up the differences between the PRO and FIT and sent questions to their support and asked on here. All I really got was "Pro is for Men and Fit is for women". Based on other reviews I had a feeling the Pro might not fit the way I wanted so I just ordered both (Leather). Comparison: Based on a visual inspection, the main difference is the length of the wrist wrap. My unofficial measurements show the PRO about 19" and the FIT measures about 16 inches. The leather pads seem to be the same size as well. The padding does Size does matter: When trying the pro, the most obvious difference was the extra wrap hanging off. It also felt like I wasn’t getting as snug of a fit with the pro around the wrist. Because of the more comfortable fit, I did chose not to use the PRO in the gym and returned them. Functionality I was looking for something that offered a good grip and wrist support. The Cobra Grips delivered in both grip and support. You can use the leather to wrap around the bar in place of straps or use them as grips. The feel great on pushing or pulling, dumbbells or barbells. I have been using them for two full weeks and are the only gear I need now for all my exercises. I read where some people felt pinching, but I do not feel any discomfort at all. Conclusion: These are the most complete hand/wrist grip/support I have ever tried. I have no idea at who should use which one, but I think the company should reconsider these as men/women versions. For my 7.5” wrists the FIT is the right fit for me. ... show more

  • Cobra Grips v/s Versa Gripps for smaller hands
Color: FIT Red Leather
I was excited to get the limited leather option to try based on the reviews. I've been using Versa Gripps Pro for years but they don't have a leather option and it was getting expensive to replace as I do lift 3x a week. So comparing this to Versa Fit: if you have small hands, Versa Pro fit is better. I am XS in Versa, this cobra only provide one size for women and it will fit "most". The wrap goes all the way around and felt too long for smaller wrists. It was hard to see the "left", "right" lettering unless you pull the strap most of the way out. The top part felt too wide for my palm as well as too long. doing pull downs I can wrap all the way and more around the the bar The narrow part is actually too narrow if you are doing cables. the handles slide pass the narrow part and would hit your skin between your index and thumb and it was annoying. The thick padding wasn't as firm , it slides around the wrist and I have to readjust. Leather is not as stable as rubber, doing dead lifts you will feel sliding. Pros: thicker padding around the wrist was nice. leather felt more comfortable and smelled less. Price is nice compared to the expensive versa however I am not sure what good that will do as I can only use these for triceps days. Overall the fit wasn't for me but if you have bigger hands this may work for you. I am only 5'2 so... back to XS Versa for me. ... show more

  • Excellent product - very durable, easy to use, and effective
Color: A PRO Black Rubber
I purchased these grips in January 2018 and after using them 5x a week for the past year I can say that they are a great product and well worth the purchase. I am a relatively large human (6' 2", 230 lbs) and I have been seriously doing HIIT and weight training for about 5 years. I started out doing primarily crossfit workouts but for the past 3 years I have been focusing on primarily strength training - with a heavy focus on olympic lifts (power clean and jerk, deadlift, snatch). That said, I bought these grips when my ability to increase weight was substantially limited by the durability of my hands. Call me a pansy or a wimp if you want - all I know is that my hands were being shredded every time I had a heavy lifting session. Something had to change. Thankfully the cobra grips were everything I needed and more. Unlike some grips, the Cobra Grips don't only protect protect the sensitive portions of my hand (where the upper palm meets the fingers). Rather, they protect my ENTIRE palm and inside of my fingers. Consequently, they have entirely removed any grip related limitations from my lifts. I literally went from experiencing a significant tear of my upper palm every 2-3 weeks, to not having a single tear in the last year. As a result, using the Cobra grips has allowed me lift significantly more than I previously could - particularly in deadlift and clean and jerk. While the grips are primarily advertised for barbell work, they are useful for a lot of other exercises as well. In addition to barbell lifts, I use them for pullups, chin-ups, kettlebells, rows, cable work (lat pulls, crossovers, etc.). If the exercise involves gripping a "bar" with the palm, the cobra grips will work and provide a huge boost in grip strength. The grips are also extremely durable. I've used them nearly continuously for a year and they pretty much look the same as the day I bought them, with a little normal wear and tear. These things are TOUGH and built to last. Some of my weight training partners have expressed concern that using the grips will make it more difficult to release a bar, e.g., when they need to bail from a lift. While that is a reasonable concern, it has been a complete non-issue for me. While it takes some maneuvering to grab the bar with the Cobra grip, releasing the grip is simply a matter of opening your hands. Using the Cobra grips, I have found that releasing the bar on a failed lift feels every bit as natural to me as it did when I wasn't using grips at all. While I am a huge fan of these grips and highly recommend them, no product is perfect and there is room for some improvement to these grips as well. First - it does take a while to get set up with the cobra grips on the bar. If you are a competitive crossfitter or someone who is looking for a product that will allow you to grip a bar quickly, this is not the product for you. One way to address the issue is to store the cobra grips in the same position that they were shipped from the manufacturer, as that will encourage the leather to curve in the right direction and facility a quicker setup. Second - the Cobra Grips are a one size fits all product. That means they are designed to fit the wrists of the biggest of man titans to the smallest of poindexters. While I am a fairly large human, I have thin wrists and so I have to cinch the grips down quite a lot in order to get them to fit. While doing so is not a big deal, I think the fit would be considerably more comfortable if the wrist portion of the grip was sized down a bit. Third - the materials used to make the grip are quite warm and absorbent. While that makes them reasonably comfortable to wear, it also means that the grips tend to absorb copious amounts of sweat. After a year of use, my set of grips now smell quite putrid despite being hand washed several times. In sum, the pluses and minuses of these grips are: PLUSES: * Great hand protection * Very Durable * Useful for a variety of lifts * Enhances grip tremendously, but still easy to release a bar. * Reasonable price for the product. CONS: * Can take a while to set up on the bar * One size fits all wrist doesn't fit narrow wrists very comfortably * Absorbent materials can trap foul odors EDIT - In the interest of full disclosure I wanted to indicate that I am not affiliated with the manufacturer in any way, and that I have NOT and will NOT receive any compensation from the manufacturer. ... show more
