I live in an old house with single-pane windows. This summer, the heat coming in them has been awful. I've used this film in previous apartments we've lived in and it's always worked well, decreasing the temperature anywhere between 5-10 degrees. It's doing the same in this old house. I'm in the process of completing a sunroom & a bedroom. You can see the difference between the filmed panels and the non-filmed panels. It does decrease the lighting in the room, but to have a livable space is worth it. The trick to using is to clean the windows really well first, then take measurements of the panels, and cut them. I usually try to leave about a 1/4" extra that I'll have to cut off. Then peel off the backing, spray lots of water on the window and the back of the film. Squeegee it to get out all of the bubbles. (Note: So there are no streaks on the film, use a squeegee with a soft cloth over it. It truly helps.) Once the bubbles are gone, then use a really SHARP box cutter, or similar type tool to cut around the edges. Use a metal or plastic ruler or similar to help get a good straight edge. Once all done, squeegee out any last bubbles. This works best on newer windows, maybe with an aluminum or hard plastic frame to get a good edge cut. My windows are old. Really old. Not exactly smooth, and have wood frames that have been painted multiple times through the years so I can't get the best, most even cut that I should be able to. I can't get out all of the bubbles, either, but those are mainly on the edges. Overall I'm very happy with the product since I've used it so often throughout the years and know what it can do. Will definitely buy again as many times as I need to cover all my windows. (Pictures above show a bedroom with the top panels with the film on, and the lower windows without. I'm waiting on another shipment to finish up the rest of the windows. Note: the exterior window and the storm windows are dirty.     • Works as Expected ... But
The product is basically pretty easy to install. However, like all "cling" products of this type, it is nearly impossible to get out every bubble. Having said that, the bubbles do not distract too much from the aesthetic look outside and do not affect the inside view at all. During daylight (not at night), the film blocks out the view from the outside while allowing a clear view from the inside. These products tend to be fairly expensive but, if they do the trick for you (privacy and heat reduction), they are worth the price. My biggest complaint is that the sizes (width and length) offered result in a Lot of Film Waste (and therefore money). There should be more size options available for each color (i.e. silver/silver, black/silver, etc.) I plan to buy more but might have to find another seller that has more in stock and more sizes available. ... show more

We used this to cover an eyebrow window in our master bedroom because it was too expensive for custom shades or shutters. I was skeptical from reading some of the other reviews about bubbles or the product not sticking. But honestly, I think it was user error. I had zero problems installing this. All the bubbles came out easily using just my shower squeegee. It does a much better job blocking car headlights at night and UV rays during the day than the old window tint that was on there. I’m super happy with it, and you can’t beat the price. It’s also nice if you mess up on cutting like I did, you can peel it right off, respect it with water and reapply it in a couple minutes. Highly recommend. Now, I just need to replace the middle window below it that got air inside the double pane. :) ... show more

We added a shower to our basement bathroom. We wanted some privacy stickers, as the window is flush with the stairs and faces the front of the house. This was super simple to cut and install and did exactly what we needed. My only complaint is that it advises it is a tempering sticker, which it actually is NOT (as the building inspector advised). If you NEED a tempering sticker for inspection, keep looking. But, if you're just looking for privacy, this works great! ... show more

It does a good job providing privacy. Nonetheless, installation was challenging even for my very small window. I'm not sure if this is the fault of the product or me having issues as the installer. I ended up with quite a few bubbles near the edges, which is a bummer, but not a deal breaker.

They use tape to hold the roll together. It leaves a residue that I have not been able to remove. In essence, 6 inches on one end of the roll are unusable because it is "stained" by the tape. A rubber band would have left no mark.

It works well for providing the right amount of privacy but still allowing the light in. The edges want to curl a little, but free I laid it out and left it stretched for a bit, I didn’t have that issue any longer
